Actual beer and a very nice selection of mixed drinks. I don't remember too many local crafts, but at least stuff like Yuengling, Killians, Guinness, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, etc.

In the water park. From the arcade entrance, go straight, then take a right after the giant tower that dumps buckets of water on people. Go past the large bar "cabana" and head towards the surf simulator. Go behind that and you should see it.

For reference, it's also right next to the big funnel slide that doesn't require an innertube.

Well the plan is to wear him all day Saturday, but he may be popping in here and there on the other days too. I absolutely love wearing that suit, staying in character as canti is probably my favorite thing to do at cons (so dont be offended if you try to talk to me and i dont speak). I've seen them do ID checks at the hot tub bar, but it's a rare thing. Might just depend on the bartender.

So, you can go as long as you don't look 12, just be prepared for that off chance someone might come out and ask you for an ID. You won't get in trouble, you'll just be asked to leave the hot tub area.

You have to have a waterpark pass to get into the hot tub bar. :/ If you're staying at the Kalahari, your room comes with 1 wristband per bed space (so for example combo suites come with 8).

If you have friends staying at the Kalahari:
1. If they have more wristbands than people in their room, you can probably just ask if you can have the extra wristband.
2. Ask if they can put them on loose enough to be able to slide them off, but tight enough that they won't slide off on their own. That way if someone isn't going to the waterpark, you could just use their wristband. Don't worry if the wristband breaks- you can just exchange it for a new one at the hotel front desk.

I was talking to S0ni and Angel over the Colossal-facebook group looking for some input on whether I should do Caesar last minute for Colossal, since I have everything but knee pads and a blonde wig in my closet.

Otherwise my line up was pretty much Soma Shicksal (God Eater.) Mikuo Hatsune (Vocaloid) , and Satan from Hataraku Maou-sama.

But I'm also going to see if I can fit time to get Caesar done. If not, I'll gladly pose in Mikuo. Fanbase shouldn't just be limited to one series right?

Not gonna happen, because lifeguards.

People were kicked out of the waterpark last year by newbie lifeguards simply for being in cosplay. If a lifeguard spots someone even beginning to set foot in the water with bodypaint, expect to immediately hear a whistle. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if the door check staff turned away anyone who tried to enter the park with bodypaint on.

I don't think you want to meet outdoor, unless the weather would be nice, so I'm definitely vouching for the Kalahari Lobby, which is opposite of the Candy Shop / Restaraunt. There's nothing going on in the hotel itself as far as events go (unlike most other conventions) as all the convention space is in the convention area. You're only going to find rooms there. Though the resort area has some places to hang out and some stuff to do water park aside.

I think the hotel is mostly convention people this year, but there are some normal people there usually.

Here. The purple dots are where badge check was last year and where they'll probably be again this year. The pink dots are where I assume badge checks will be set up for the old half of the convention center this year (last year it wasn't being used at all so it was pretty much just a giant lounge though all panel rooms were locked).

Con Ops and Security HQ (marked help and safety) are -always- outside of the "con floor", and reg kinda... has to be outside of a badge check area, lol.

E4 will most likely just have someone checking badges at the door when something is going on in there just like last year.

The "open" hallway does have plenty of places to sit down and relax, including the fountain at the bottom of the stairs, some tables across the hall from "Right Stuf", and the couches along the outer wall of the Maid Cafe.

The only notable event on Thurs is the Craft Fair, however, the schedule posted a couple weeks back is tentative and could always have a few more events added.

I just asked a con-roomie where we go for booze.

Head north from the Kalahari (take a right out of the entrance). Drive until you get to the Burger King on the left. Make a left at the first light past the Burger King onto Strub Rd.

Turn left onto Columbus Ave and right past the gas station is a small liquor store called Harney's Market. Pic related. It's small but has a great selection. Of course we also usually pick up boxed bottles of stuff at Sam's Club too.

I'll let you in on a little secret: Usually convention hotels don't allow people to dodge paying for a room by sleeping in the hallways, but last year they were perfectly fine with it- one of the cleaning staff even went around putting blankets on the couch-crashers.

I can't 100% guarantee that'll be the case this year, but the Kalahari loves Colossal so much they give the con special treatment. If too many people do it, though, they may stop allowing it, so don't go around talking about it too much.

If you're just looking to buy some quick food to make in your hotel, there's a super walmart about a block or two down the street. There's lots of restaurants nearby. But be aware that while bringing in groceries is fine, going around the con center carrying fast food / drinks is not since the Kalahari wants to make money off the catering service they offer in the con center and the staff may crack down on it.

Liquor you buy at a grocery store is going to be different quality than the type you can buy in a liquor store. Something to do with alcohol levels. However, if the store has a 'state licensed" liquor store inside of it (like a lot of giant eagles) then you can get the high quality stuff in-store, but only in that specific section.

Organizer here. Actually only 4 photographers were invited and each including myself were bringing 1 group. The Jojo group was my choice and they brought their choices, but then people told other people and it got to be a big cluster****. People expect more and more for nothing... Also people were there shot with the tiger actually didnt buy a badge to the convention which after the fact I wasnt entirely pleased with. TDLR; the session will revert back to an exclusive VIP invite only event of less than 10 people photogs included.

I don't know what happened this year, but last year, MangSirene/CatalystSirene (not Syren here on /cgl/, different girl) made a Youtube video about going to Colossalcon. She bragged about doing photoshoots with baby tigers and going to the waterpark and told people they didn't have to get a badge to do all the fun stuff Colossalcon helped provide. When she was confronted by staff, she flipped out and tried to threaten them with her ~7,000 followers~ and told them they shouldn't piss off famous people. Of course not. I'm saying he was drawing the negative attention to himself on top that. If he were young and attractive, I just would have called him a douche bag. Since he's older, I would expect him to know better than to stand up and yell things.
And the guys "praising the sun god" were about 20 and they were equally repulsive.

So, unattractiveness is not my problem with these people. Their behavior is embarassing.

I mean, the guy straight up says it's the con's fault her phone got stolen in the arcade, which unless they meant the game room, is an area that's completely outside the con floor and way out of the con's jurisdiction. Not to mention the fact that it's the attendees responsibility to watch after their stuff.
