So I just came back from the London MCM this weekend and never before have I been so enraged by cosplayers. Hey, I love cosplay and all what comes with it but Homestuck fans take the fucking cake. I have no idea what the fuck homestuck is about nor did I know of it's existance prior to this weekend just past. Holy shit, does anyone else see this as the cancer of cosplay?

Maybe I am behind on this but I never really noticed it. The cosplay is fine also I just can't handle the way they all act.

There's a limit to messing around in a character's persona and literally running around shouting kawaii uguu desu over the top weeb faggotry. I wouldn't mind so much but it's literally everywhere. It was like an ocian of candycorn horns.

If it's any consolation, my best friend approached a huge group of Homestuck cosplayers, shouted "HOMESTUCK? MORE LIKE HOMESUCK" whilst me and my other friend stood behind him in retarded poses whilst wearing suits. People nearby started shouting "OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!".
It was a very rewarding experience.

The main reason so many people hate it is the fandom. And why the fandom is often very shitty is because it's filled with kids and preteens who don't know any better. They do the yaois, dry hump, misinterpret the characters, do bad cosplays, and over all are annoying. Can't blame them though. They are just young and often those group of people who don't understand what personal space is or how to behave in public. Before homestuck they were all into some other anime. Naruto, hetalia, what the fuck ever. Now they all just moved to one fandom and so people notice and think homestuck in general is bad. It's actually a great and well thought out web comic. Not everyone is a shitty weab cosplayer. Learn not to blame the entire fandom.

I just started reading HS last month and I actually don't see it's appeal to anyone under 18. There are a lot of references to early 2000's internet culture when millennial kids were busy learning ABCs. I'd think the pulp of the story would go over their heads and maybe it has.

I went to the actual Homestuck meet at the MCM, and it was horribly organized. Not sure if it was different people, or the same people as last time, but the photoshoot on Saturday just completely fell apart, the organizers were incredibly unprofessional on both days, and there was a disgusting amount of litter left on the field afterwards, to be fair though that wasn't just them, there were other groups leaving a mess, but still.

I think my main issue with the homestuck fandom in general is how EVERYTHING has to be Homestuck. I remember when it was just 4chords and trickster but?? Soft grunge stuck?? Off stuck?? Madoka stuck?? Lolita stuck??????
don't get me wrong, I used to associate myself with that fandom but whhyyyy whyyy whyyyyyyyyyyyyy must everything always be about HS.
i also consider the homestuck 'fandom' as a grouping of its fans, the comic being seperate. and considering 70% of the fandom are 13 yo people from the hetalia fandom........

Oddly enough this was not the case at a recent con I attended.

The /cgl/ meet up was fantastic and ended in drinking at a hotel room/lots of laughs.

Promstuck ended by being horribly beta as they were intruding on con space without permission, funny enough this took place during the same time as the con rave and yet they refused to attend that.... Ya know ... the area of the con where people are supposed to be/dance/be annoying as fuck.
