Lolita Lifestyle, whilst some debate it isn't real, post pics of ways of ruffling up your life. Got pictures of lolitas in your organizer? Your bedding has a tea rose print? Your oven mitts have kawaii muffins on them? Let's talk about all the little aspects of life that get ruffled (bonus points for someone who has lolified their car)
Pic related, loliable travel baggage anyone?

Decoden is a huge thing, so mobile phones and stuff get covered in it which is supposed to be a lolita thing. I'd like to see an office desk done up but none of that overly done hello kitty stickers and plushies everywhere...they always seem so cramped. Ideas? I'd like to use a lace table cloth but it would get in the way of writing...

Shabby Chic pink rose sheets, white lace curtains, black harlequin and pastel pink walls, Moi dix Mois posters next to EA posters, a writing desk... Also have a few of my lolita dresses hanging around the room at all times paired up with different shoes, blouses, ext. Not sure if this qualifies.

I wish I had the drive to wear frills or frilly inspired things every day, but I'm as unmotivated and unorganized as they come about almost everything but schoolwork. I want to try to have drive again, just no idea where to start.

Someday, I will have a Romantic decorated and furnished office. It will have a Louis XVI inspired swivel chair for me and two similar styled chairs for my clients. I'll have a vase full of fresh flowers every other week or so (I'll always try to make time to get fresh water and trim the ends). My family and friend's pictures will be framed in ornate "shabby chic" styled frames. I'll have a portable kettle or K-cup machine, a place to organize my tea selection (maybe put them in a cute basket for display), and a small collection of tea cups for my client and I. I'll have to have a small cake tray for sweets. My name and title will be engraved in cursive. I doubt that my company will let me change out the drab curtains, but maybe I can tack some rose garlands around the windows.

Can't decide what to do with artwork yet, but I know one thing: the desk will have a "secret" opening on the top that has booze inside.

Lots of booze.

This is my basic problem in a nutshell- not allowed to have pens or writing implements in my cube, because my company thinks I work in fucking MI-5 and not a sales call center. I don't want to keep a candy dish at my desk because I'll gain weight, I don't have a sweetie or kids to put photos of in frames, and even if I do I'm a lesbian and out at work but not real comfortable with rubbing it in people's faces. I prefer water to every other drink, no paper means little to no need for a wastebasket, etc. I want kind of a hollywood regency inspired look to it, but all I have is my required posted documents rewritten by hand with a calligraphy pen and a really cute clock I got at a thrift store.

My apartment is even furnished; all I have are live plants and one of those teenage girl wall collages mostly made out of roses.

Someday I want a shabby chic meets voodoo shrine home, all rich colors and vintage valentines and incense and weird dark corners crammed with esoteric looking things. And even though all my books are cheap paperbacks, I wish they were all thick leatherbound things.

also, I have my own bathroom. I'm going to break out the bathroom set that I used for my dorm bathroom (dorm bathroom pictured) and decorate it.
the bathroom has two parts. a toilet/shower area (which is destined to be hellokittyified) and a carpeted sink area with a big mirror (the wallpaper is pastel floral)
not sure what to decorate the sink area yet, but I've been told that I'm allowed to hang photos and decorate the area as I please.
if any of you ladies love floral prints, give me some good suggestions or links (or tell me if you went to your local store and saw some cute floral bathroom stuff)
I think floral is cute, but Its not really my style, so I'd love to enlist the help of /cgl/ to help give me suggestions to roccoco my bathroom.

I'd also suggest browsing local antique shops and flea markets for pretty pastel china or bottles. You can use things like vases, bottles or teapots as toothbrush holders, and teacups or saucers as soap dishes.

have a row of buttons down the front, you could go with that.

Alternatively, the jsk version looks easier as I don't think it has any zippers, you may want to sew the straps directly onto the dress so the buttons at the ends of them don't poke you in the back when you sleep.

If you want the long sleeves you could add them to the jsk style, as long as you keep the neckline wide enough to have a full shirred back so it can be pulled over your head. Personally I thought the jsk plus a long-sleeved bolero would be cute.

Aw dayum. I should really make bento lunches now. I'm not getting a meal plan and my fall schedule isn't going to allow much time for a decent lunch. Thanks for the inspirations.

I recall having a lot of shitty days last semester and my last roommates had a drinking problem, so I would take advantage of their empty collection of wine bottles (for some reason, they have a buttload of Barefoot lined up on the cabinets) and use them as vases for flowers I bought for cheap at a local florist. I wasn't allowed to have pets and taking care of the flowers was as close as I could get. It sounds really cheesy and almost ita of me, but I thought that I was becoming a life-styler because of this. It was fun though. I'll probably treat myself to some in the near future.

It's small so I can move it around when I move so it's great for renters, plus the fact it's all completely edible and lets me pretend I'm eating healthy when I sprinkle it into my pasta and stuff. Plus, unlike bought flowers from a store it only dies if I don't look after it. I love having flowers around but it's not really a money wise option having to replace them all the time.

they are bogus in that they're just a bunch of salt. however, they are awesome in that they're a big glowing piece of salt. i have several of the nice quality ones. check the base to get a gauge of the quality - if it's a splintery piece of wood with a loosely attached lightbulb, keep looking. they are extremely warm and dim light (think nightlight) and pleasantly warm to the touch. you should seal them tightly in a bag if it gets humid in the summer as water moisture will slowly dissolve them.

My friends and I have gotten sugar migraines from a local tea shop, and it was not fun.

I've always found it weird when people suggest music that's "lolita". To me, music is music, no matter who listens to it. I'd hate to think that listening to trip hop makes me any less of a lolita than those who like classic and/or j-pop. Hmm...actually, it would be cool if I could hear that kind of music while shopping for lolita clothing or going to a tea room.

Hypothetically speaking, would it be more of a hipster or a lolita lifestyler thing to do to invest in a gramophone?

>> No.6860311

>>6860205
The thing is that even if a part of lolita comes in fact from a music band (let's face it, it's mostly Mana/Moi dix mois and the rest is just some rehash), the whole fashion is not directly linked to a musical genre nd is not connoted as a "music look". When you see a lolita, you don't directly bound it to a certain musical genre (except maybe from punk-lolita, which make sense since it uses a style that is bound to music).
The other thing is that unlike some other fashion, lolita did not start as a way for some music fan to stand out from the others. It is intended to stand out, but was not really born among a subculture generated by music. Of course, there is Mana, but he pretty much caused the opposite effect : some people mentionned him for his look and then were interested in his music.

I forgot to mention that it seems like there are different ideologies that surround the fashion, depending on who you talk to/what part of the world you're in.

It seems to me that in Japan, at least when the fashion began, it was all about emulating the cuteness of being a maiden or housewife (at least otome-kei was like that), then as the fashion evolved and spread, it was a little more about expressing femininity through modesty in contrast to dressing sexily. There are those who wear it to feel empowered, and there are those who wear it to feel princess-like - or both.

With other, more grounded sub-cultures, there seems to be a more unified idea that reflects in their clothing choices (i.e.: Hippie culture is about freedom and returning to nature, thus the loose clothing, natural fibers, untamed hair; it's also grounded in music.).

However, my The Duchess set is all slightly stained/chipped and my Durham I accidentally chipped myself... I grew extremely attached to these tea cups and I looked up prices for them and I would definitely pay the price for them since they're just so beautiful. Finding them is another matter... The detail is just spectacular and as long as you take care of them properly, they don't get damaged from just washing them, as some tea sets do, such as the designs getting washed off.

Oh Royal Albert, surprisingly around early spring The Bay (oh and if you're Canadian) carries these very cute and flowery tea sets by Royal Albert, and a lot of them usually don't sell so they end up going for huge mark downs to clear them out. I used to work for the gift registry and china department so I've seen so many wonderful sets come and go. Many families still carry RA and their flower sets, ESPECIALLY Old Country Rose. It's terribly sweet to see grand-daughters carrying on their grandmother's sets. Sadly I know we had some people try to return their sets at the store just because we still carry them, but they are clearly used and old (different marks and stamps).

Keep an eye on craigslist, local markets, and garage sales. You may just be lucky, or else if you know a fine china store, keep an eye on particular brands and styles, and see if they ever go discontinued/clearance. Or else check online for particular brands, some clearance patterns go on sale (ie. Royal Albert, Noritake, Mikasa, Royal Doulton).

PS: I prefer Royal Albert - Memory Lane, just a touch of light blue, not too busy like OCR and the blue version of it. I forgot a lot of other patterns I enjoyed, but Royal Doulton and Mikasa has some beautiful sets. I still can't shake the habit of looking under saucers and plates to see the brand and pattern...

Gosh, depends on how social is the person, you may want to get at least a setting for 4 people, and you can go as high as 12 settings (a very common number but usually for huge families). Unless you just want that special set for yourself, have 2 sets (especially if one set breaks ahh... but 2 is a nice number for a company and you).

Type of china wise, bone china is the best and usually the most expensive of the types. It's very strong because of the calcium mix, and it's transparency. Hold up a piece to the light and see if your fingers show through: that's a sign of good quality. Bone china tends to be thinner and lighter than porcelain and fine china, but some modern brands' strength qualities are about the same among those three.

I'd research brands and patterns because there are so many variety of styles and qualities, some are prone to chipping more than others. Also, are treated differently when it comes to taking care of them and cleaning (very rare do patterns get scratched off, usually from improper cleaning and use). While you can research online, there are some things you just have to see and feel for yourself. The handles of the cups is important to the person; some designs are rather challenging for some fingers, or just awkward to hold.

I got several different views about china types for teas, and most have told me bone china is best for drinking tea due to its thinness so the tea cools a little quicker but just right to drink from without burning yourself. Even some have tried drinking the same tea out of different types of china cups, and they felt it was different from each cup. Hard for me to say, I've never tried it myself, but it's interesting and based on preferences for sure.

I'm a Dom who's more in my element when wearing normal clothing. When I'm in Lolita, I lose my dominating spirit and feel more submissive. I've never thought about being haughty in lolita... I don't feel quite grown-up and able to be demanding in it. I don't mean to sound like I'm into age-play, I just don't feel quite...I dunno...as strong in lolita?

This is going to be such a waste of space and money, but I found this fuckers (and more assorted shapes, designs, and sizes) at the Dollar Tree. I'm thinking about getting all of these and arranging them on a tiered cake stand as decoration.

haha, this is me and my boyfriend to a t.
when I'm all dressed up I can tell him to do anything because I am a princess and he happily goes along with it.
but outside of lolita the roles are pretty much reversed and I go back into loving pseudo-housewife mode. nobody will ever know my true power levels.

I'm open to getting another person to boss around in frills.

The majority of the tea places in London are waay overpriced. Like, you'll have to pay the best part of £20 for a couple of tiny triangle sandwiches and a tea.

I've found tea to be absurdly filling. There certainly is a minimum price around £25 which is pretty excessive but all carbs and sweets are very stuffing.

things I want to talk about that might keep this thread going:
>where to get rori suitcases
>the art of bento (recipies, sharing links)
>do you dress up your pets or collect cutsey\roccoco or gothic things?
>do you have a lolita specific perfume?
> does your personality match the style you wear?
>do you act differently from usual when you wear lolita? how so?
>what do your parents, relatives, close friends, and regular friends think of the fashion?
> do you prefer playing videogames with "loliable" playable characters? if so, what videogames would you reccomend?

Amazon.com has many cute bentos+accessories and I would recommend getting ones that say they are microwave and dishwasher safe. I very much like taking my bento to work though I'm not particularly good at waking up in time to make it cute usually it forces me to think a little healthier because of the small space.

you want a lolita store? fuck yeah you can have a lolita store. you want to put coords on a mannequin? you bet your sweet tits you can. and if someone comes into the store asking for a motherfucking outfit, you can give them a motherfucking oufit so sweet they'll cream their panties over it. hell, they might like it so much that they'll invite you out to hang out later because you are that fucking awesome.

might as well answer my own thing

I collect old gen MLPS, dress up the dogs in the house hello kitty style, and I was fortunate enough to find a meduim sized carousel horse while thrifting for $20

Kokusyoku Sumire or Kanon Wakeshima or Moi dix Mois or Malice Mizer etc. etc.
