Wow. It would do you some good to dial back that attitude a bit. Whether or not you think it's "sucky," she had the balls to try and make it and didn't just mope around /cgl/, complain about being unskilled, and ask people to motivate her. She got off her ass and made the costume. And as for it being "sucky," it's not the best costume I've ever seen, but it's far from the worst. Her wings are better than half the Morrigans out there, that's for sure.

To reply to the original post, I think it's just fine for people to cosplay from hentai and ecchi series as long as they 1) follow convention guidelines for public decency and 2) expect some vulgar comments and don't accuse everyone taking their picture of being a rapist. Normally I'm pretty gung-ho about saying that obscene comments aren't acceptable even for skimpy costumes, but if you're going to cosplay from porn, expect to hear things that would make your momma cry, especially if you post your photos on the internet.

If I thought it was the worst I would have said so, but it clearly isn't. I agree it's not the best too, which is why I used "sucky". The skirt is poofy so having a hoop skirt underneath could have made it a lot better. The wig's pretty cheap looking too. Other than that, the fact that her bra is showing and she should have worn some proper undergarments to hold her boobs up are things that would have made this look a lot better.
What's wrong with asking for motivation when facing a challenging costume??

I have a story

My friend is a photographer and what one might call a hentai aficionado, but he would never bring up the subject matter unless he knew you were comfortable talking about it.

anyway, he's at a con and he sees this girl in a bible black costume with a couple of other girls in other things. He asks her for a photo, and then makes some kind of joke relating to bible black. Girl goes nuts, she's so offended and uncomfortable. He's like...what did I do, she's in a bible black uniform? So he asks her where she got the costume and she says her friends put her in it, it would be fun. He lets her know she might want to go ask her friends about the series it's from.

I wish I knew what happened when she confronted them.

Yeah, that was my plan. I figured that if I was feeling a bit unwell, or it's really hot, then I don't have to wear a wig. But I can wear wig to change up the costume a bit too, so it won't feel too much like wearing the same thing all the time.

I thought about doing that, but I don't think it's Emi's personality. She doesn't like being in her wheelchair and she's really sad when she has to go in it. Although I can walk short distances so it might be fun to do Emi at some point anyway. Plus striped socks are so cute! I want to make my boyfriend cosplay as Hisao but he hasn't played the game yet.

I never understand why this question always gets asked over and over. If someone wants to cosplay from a hentai, that's cool. Bonus points if they're actually recognized outside of Bible Black or La Blue Girl. I don't think people realize that conventions are 90% casuals, and you can bet most don't play eroge/visual novel, nor do they stay up to date with hentai releases.

Do people frown upon it? I'm sure some do, but people frown on all sorts of things with cosplay. This wouldn't be any different.

I cosplayed as a character from an eroge called Alice Parade, and all of one person said something to me. Even better, what they said was "I love your Lucky Star school uniform! It's really cute!"

So yeah, most of you need to calm down and just cosplay what you want to. You can get haraassed wearing just about anything. Something from a hentai won't necessarily up the number of creepers you'll get.

I can't see this as a bad thing. Some hentais and eroges have very nice character designs (picture related, my dream cosplay), and even good plots to support them. So why not cosplay from something you've really enjoyed?

There's a decent number of hentai and yaoi games with great character designs. I still think it's important for the cosplayer to play or at least be aware of the original material though. I don't have a problem with people cosplaying from hentai since some hentai games/VNs/animes/mangas have good characters and good storylines with porn included, like Violated Heroine and Bible Black.

But I DO have a problem with people who cosplay from hentai just to get attention and/or be all edgy like they're the first person ever to cosplay from a porn series. Like 80% of Bible Black cosplayers never do the certain characters, they just get the eBay-made uniform and prance around with their normal hair claiming to be a lul random black bible student teeheee ^^

I don't think there's anything wrong with dressing up from a hentai if it's a similar outfit to any other cosplay. The only people who would truly know are other perverted folks that know the source material and might get a smile out of seeing somebody dressed from that. Contributing to the topic, just be prepared when you choose to do hentai series. Expect some inappropriate comments and all (It will be better to get a partner to help out and stuff), but yeah it's the same as other cosplays IMO and same rules should be applied too.
