I've never made a cape before. Any tips?

This is the cape I'm looking for. The fact that the front can't ride up to your neck sounds difficult, as well as the shoulder pads. Other than that, I guess I'm just looking for what would be the best method to make it, and with what materials.

I'm thinking of just using a chain or two for the front bit, still no idea what to use for the shoulder pads, mainly so they stay on my shoulders.

I'd make the shoulder pads out of foam or sterene.

I've heard velvet makes for good cape material, but I don't actually know how it would look.

I think it's a dark enough color that anything that doesn't shimmer or look glossy will be fine. And even then.

Anyways, what concerns come to mind:
the length
the way it bends around shoulders
keeping it so it doesn't ride up to my neck

Thas bout it right now, and I haven't started

As for what goes on under that, I actually just might use an actual McDonald's uniform if I can get my hands on one. There's one a block away from my parent's home that I'm visiting tomorrow. That'dbe for humorous effect, otherwise just a red polo is fine.

Buy cheap bedsheets from a thrift store and figure out the pattern with those. Capes sometimes have ties that go around the shoulder that might help. If you make it long, don't get it caught in an escalator, that Tuxedo Mask had one sturdily constructed microfiber cape that required someone with a pocket tool to saw off the end.

Find a basic cape pattern and follow the directions. Looks like the cape is lined. Polyester suiting has a nice weight and drape and make sure whatever you line the cape with doesn't cling onto you from static easily.

>velvet
Real velvet is very expensive, like $20-$30 a yard and OP would need about 3-5 yards to make that cape, depending on his height.

What do you mean lined?

the color is different on the inside, so that must be a different fabric, "the lining"
usually a lighter more comfortable fabric because of it's contact with skin.

the devil is a part timer.

Pretty much, Devil is a ruler in another world/dimension. Is losing a battle, escapes, and ends up working a part time job at a McRonalds so he can save up enough money and time to rule the human world. It's a fun watch, even if the character designs are a little generic. Mostly worth it for the reaction images alone.

Bumping this thread because I'll be home in about an hour as well and I'll be making the cosplay all day, and then heading to ACen tomorrow. Only one sleep deprived to day to make this with nothing started.

I wonder if McDonalds uniforms are still red, and if they'd even let me have one. They're a bunch of different colors, aren't they.

Thanks, I've not seen this before.
>I will be doing tutorials for trimmed capes or double-layered capes (or capes that have different coloured layers) at a later date, as well as a proper tutorial on collared capes.
Has she fulfilled this yet?

Did a quick Ebay check for ya and there are plenty of red ones, in plenty of sizes. The average cost seems to be about 20$.

Hahaha, this threaaadddd. I was just looking around the catalogue for the help thread to figure out his cape, too...

>>6841192
I used worbla for my shoulders, put in little hooks in the front of them so I can hang chain from one to the other. Unfortunately, having the chain there is consistent with the origin promo image, but not the show/opening. Oh well. I was thinking of using small magnets to attach the cape to the shoulder armor, but I think now I'm just going to use one fat velcro strip to connect each one. And if the cape starts to slip, I'll probably just safety pin it to my shirt or something. we'll see. Gotta actually make the cape first.

Oh, and I'm using a black sueded suiting-ish material (I used the same for my Jack Frost cloak and I like the weight) lined in a purple silky lining of some sort.

>>6845124
I made his shirt, it's really easy. I just found a pure red polo, used bias tape for the white and yellow lines, and made a new collar. It took maybe three hours (and I'm REALLY slow). The toughest thing were making the MgRonald patches.
