Madagascar hissers are INCREDIBLY clean animals. Your beloved dog or cat or bunny has particles of its own shit all over its fur, and most have parasites, some of which can even transfer to humans.

By contrast, high school science teachers with the budget and the interest can do a fantastic experiment with their students showing the outrageous contrast between how many colonies of bacteria will grow from students' CLEAN FINGERS vs these cockroaches (spoiler: the fingers are far, far more disgusting).

Plus they have a surprising amount of personality for such a tiny, essentially brainless animal. Stop hating on hissers.

Where are people getting these laws about no roaches in restaurants? Granted, no pets are allowed of any kind in most places, but restaurants don't get shut down or fined for one roach existing there some time. Only if there's a full on infestation can they get in trouble. I've worked in a hospital with quite a few roaches and some mice, it's just expected around food. Try looking up legal allowable bug parts and rat hair in your food. Sounds like you'll be in for a surprise.

Who the fuck cares if it's legal or not anyway, the point is that bringing a pet of any kind (roach, ferret, cat, dog) to a meet is disrespectful to OTHER PEOPLE ATTENDING THE MEET. They may have allergies, phobias, and who the fuck wants to deal with corralling any extra beings with their own will. I'm sorry, but if someone brought their chinchilla to a meet (which I find adorable) I'd still find it incredibly rude to just show up without letting anyone know in advanced. And certainly if we were going into any private establishment (and CERTAINLY if said establishment sold food)
