No wig thread?

I guess I'll have to start one then

Cosplaying pic related and I need to keep the curls in the wig nice and soft. They are already starting to get a little messy from just minor styling. How does /cgl/ recommend I retain/reset the curls?

Also, wig general.

Is this salvageable? It's a bit worn. I've tried using Mane and Tail, but perhaps I didn't have enough patience and rushed it?

I carefully straightened it since it arrived wavy, much to my surprise.

I need to know if anyone has any crimson viper wig tutorials, I have a pretty general idea of how I want to go about it but I wanted to know if there were any hints/tips/tricks/etc

I'm stuck between two wigs for Valkyrie from Marvel. She's a pretty pale blonde, but I tend to look better in darker/warmer shades. What do?

Does anyone know any good tutorial on curling long wigs? I'm new to wig styling so basic wig care tips would be much appreciated too. I have an 80 cm curly wig thats straight near the top, then eases into some nice curls. I'd like to add some more into it though. It's slightly tangled in some areas, could I just brush out the tangles with a wig brush?
Pic related, it's the wig.

They are awesome. It like takes three years for it to get even near messy. All you have to do is hand brush it and it's basically like new again. And also the skin tops are awesome. Worth every penny.

They are very nice. I own two from them. If my straight wig gets tangled, all I have to do is fingercomb it and it's back to being ready to wear. The fibers are not suspiciously shiny, very soft, comfortable to wear, etc.

I'm stuck with Arda because of my larger than average head and budget constraints, but they don't have the exact shade I want. Do their silver/white wigs take sharpie dye alright? For that matter, is their teal actually teal, or are the gallery shots accurate in that it's actually a bright fuckin blue?

I liked how thick Buttercup looked, but it looks like I need http://arda-wigs.com/products/le-tigre-long for the length.

Anyone have good online sources for lace front wigs? Not arda, please. I got a lace front from them and not only does it not fit right, but the lace was so badly bent that it won't lie flush on my head even with glue, tape, etc.

>> No.6780265

>>6780019
yes, use hot glue.

You will pull the wefts through the back, cut the needle loose and then lay them on a piece of wax paper. Just go to town with some hot glue, then with a spoon and another sheet of wax paper (so the glue doesn't stick) smash that shit before it dries. Turn the piece over, repeat. When you are all done you can trim a lot of the glued part down and you can glue the "tabs" that are created flat against the wig. It will make the wig fit tighter so make sure you have room.

I can try to take you some photos of wigs I've done this way later if you want them

What do you do to hide the hair on the back of one's neck when they're wearing a very short wig? In their FAQ, Arda mentioned make-up, dye, etc. etc. I tried googling for it but had very little luck.

Pic related, wig and character. I think part of the problem is that the wig is just a tad too small, but Arda goes up to 23 inches and the head of the person in question is 24 so I'm kind of out of options here.

>>6780275
If where the wig ends only contains short hairs, go to a great clips or something and tell them to shave it off.

>> No.6780285

>>6780277
His entire hair is short, so yes there's only short hairs. And it would be the simplest solution, I suppose. (I could even shave it for the person myself.) My only worry is that I'll need to shave too much and it'll look bad once the wig comes off, so I want to save it as a last resort.

What kind of wig would you guys recommend for Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia? Something with the wefts upside down so it's easier to get the sticking up?

(tutorials or something would also help)

I have a dark brown wig that is a shade or two too light for the character I bought it for, is there a simple-ish way to darken it?

>> No.6781495

>>6780275

I'm dealing with a MArty wig right now too. I've been sewing extra wefts into the entire thing, but making the ones at the nape a little longer.

Also, I almost always use the wash-out color spray one shade lighter than the wig on the nape of my neck and on the wig cap so that my dark hair doesn't show. You won't be able to do this on your forehead with a lacefront like this one, but it should be okay at the nape.

Okay I posted this is the general help, thread, but, might as well post it here because it's wig related.
Is it possible to add a foamcore piece to a short wig (aka no stub)?

>> No.6781571

>>6781567
Yeah, you just rig it differently. Glue, if you're okay with a permanent attachment (although maybe you could wash out school glue?), sew it down, or have wire attached to a headband under the wig and have the wire ends pointed up to skewer the foam.

If you have a straightener/curler, wrap it very well in tin foil and use that on its highest settings. You can then just peel off the foil to get rid of any melted wig gunk.

>>6780290
I think one of Arda's lacefronts is specially meant for spiking, so I'd use one of those since it'll take care of the hairline and fiber direction. You can use any KH spiking tutorial and just adapt it to suit Lloyd's hair shape.

>>6780356
You have to dye it using one of the normal methods.

Anyone have suggestions for the color of Sumia's wig? pic related. I have Ardas color wheel and 'light brown' looks pretty nice for it, but it doesn't come in any long wigs.

Considering getting a dark grey wig and adding some brown/beige color into it, but I've only ever really had success with sharpie dying and there aren't too many beige sharpies in this world. Not sure if just brown or just grey would look better. I don't mind having to style from a straight wig, I just can't even find one to start with. Halp please.

Sure! For unnatural-colored wigs, especially white and silver, I use Team Colors because it goes on thick. For blonds and reds I just go with the natural-colored Jerome Russell line. I usually restock base colors at drugstores around halloween, but you can sometimes find them at beauty supply stores the rest of the year, and they're definitely available online.

It works like this: After you put and pin the wig cap on. clip a towel around your shoulders and have a friend around to check, and spray the bottom of the cap and any exposed hair, let it dry a couple of minutes while you do your makeup. If you're not wearing a lacefront you can do this to your hairline too, same procedure. If I'm wearing a lacefront I just spray a puddle of it into a disposable cup and paint the darkest parts that show through with an eyebrow comb, but leave enough clean that the tape will still stick, and then do the coverup makeup after the wig's already stuck.

I've been putting some thought into doing an N cosplay from Pokemon, and while most of it would be fairly simple the wig is going to be a snag. Any tips on where to find a wig that color or close to that color and how to style it to look like his?
