A while back some anon asked how the five wits' grand high demon was for vriska or jade. I just got mine in the mail and it will definitely work for both just keep in mind that the color runs very dark (a blue/black almost) so it might not be flattering for jade in color.

That said I can be a be too insistent at times and it's been cringe worthy even for me a couple of times so if I've bothered you or your friends at cons before, I really am super sorry. I'm kind of just a loud bully of a guy, not going to make any excuses. Still, security has not once at a single con ever told me that I was 'creeping people out' so I can't imagine that too many people are complaining. Like you said, it's been over a year and a half.

You can make one using a foam base + cover it with either model magic or paperclay, buy a real lollipop and just keep it in the plastic, or buy a realistic fake (ie http://www.etsy.com/listing/124858178 ). Then just use either alligator clips or a small hair comb to attach them!

Apologies for the late reply, but I've only bought from them once, but the wig that I do have (it's not in stock anymore, sadly) is really great. It's thick and the fibers are really nice. I may be unusual on CGLHSG but I only judge HS cosplayers harshly if they appear to be older (~18 or more) and/or they're constantly mouthing off on their blogs about how they are THE BEST ___ EVER. Should people not do a cosplay if it's so easy? Like, Dave's easy to do: Topatoco shirt + blonde wig + sunglasses, and if you want to get to the details, black jeans and usually, red Converse shoes.

But easiness sort of leads to a lazy way out, so it's looked down upon, right? I mean, that explains why there are always a billion Daves at every meet and con, ever.

I like wearing Alpha Dave to small, casual meetups. It's comfortable to drive in and relatively inconspicuous if we're in a public place like a park. I don't really look down on people who do "easy cosplays" because the way I see it, a bad cosplayer will be bad if they're doing an easy outfit or a tough one. Just because something is easy doesn't mean you'll look mediocre.

Because my first Homestuck cosplay was Alpha Dave, and I made sure I got the jeans and shoes right, and I've even made two timetables, although one kinda broke. I suppose to really complete the outfit I'd have to at some point make the Caledscratch, and then fine tune and touch up the details. Easy to start, but it'd be difficult to really perfect and actually stand out, look presentable, etcetera.

That they don't exist. I don't mean to be negative. But character panel's are usually awful. The costumes could be amazing but good cosplay does not equal good acting nor good writing. Even the panels that are done by people with theatrical experience (I'm looking at you homestuck monologues) are usually terrible simply do to the overacting and bad tone. Homestuck is genius because it leaves the readers to interpret the emotions and feels and character development and doesn't shove it in your fucking face with horrid bland dialog like most character panels I've seen.

PT 2. To be the devil's advocate of my own response and to provide some actual positive feedback. If you're dead set on doing a character panel, at least to the following.

>Have a dedicated, talented cast.
Don't just recruit people off of tumblr for a panel. You need synergy with your performers and they need to WANT to be there.

>Write around what you have
Getting a dedicated cast is a bitch. If you reaaaaallly want to write a script about your terrible SolKat ship but don't have either a good Sollux or Karkat cosplayer? Guess what you probably shouldn't write about.

>Be serious, but don't take things so seriously.
This is your work. Do the best you can but at the same time you're there to have fun. Homestuck at it's core is a comic based off of humor. A 10 minute show about Nepeta crying about how she's dead and can't see Karkat is going to get nothing but eye rolls (And maybe tears from shippers, but they're not people)

Seriously. Proof read. Write your script. Read it. Read it out fucking loud. Then have your friends read it out loud. Then have fucking strangers read it out loud. Because you know what? Eventually you'll hear something in your writing that sounds over done, misfitting, or just plain terrible.

A panel at it's core is a show, and nothing hurts a show more than everyone doing their own shit. Rehearse. Make sure everyone is on the same page so you can expect things to go smoothly.

I go to fan panels all the time. Not because they amuse me but because they tend to be terrible. No one wants to watch the five people sitting behind a table answering questions while half-assedly trying to be in character. Do something unique. If you want to be successful, be memorable.

I did my first makeup test today for Aranea which was actually a lot of fun, but I was wondering if there's any way to keep the makeup from possibly smudging where my glasses rest on my nose. I wear normal glasses as is so I'll be switching from one to the other [I'm blind as a bat].

Would extra sealing spray and more powder help or is there possibly another solution? Any advice would help and thanks in advance!

Garments, even if they're only costumes, are classified as "functional garments" instead of original artworks. This they have to fit much stricter guidelines for how original the artist's design is before the court will consider violations. Just in general, you can't copywrite clothes patterns or methods of construction (which is how Halloween companies get away with all their knockoffs). Items like striped scarves, anime glasses, cat face hats, have all been produced by other garment makers and seen in other media and there's no way to claim an original or significantly artistic contribution by hussie so. The class outfits are based on a lot of generic medieval fantasy costumes and anyone with an art history textbook could prove it.

ALSO in homestuck's case in particular there's the issue of any cosplay being made has to make significant original alterations/interpretations because the art is so shitty and simplified there's no way they could ever make a case that the cosplayer stole their methods of construction (because you can't copyright color or silouette)

All that said the symbols on the costumes that are ORIGINAL to hussie (the kids and the aspect symbols) are copywrited so I guess they could get you on that. The troll symbols are public domain though so tough shit on Hussie.

Tldr; clothing can't be copywrited but the symbols and name can so if you do commissions don't call them homestuck and be subtle about offering to stick aspect symbols on
