So just found out that I might have ovarian cancer but don't get my results till tomorrow. Can we just have a cute cosplay thread to keep me from freaking out till then.

It's either that or cancer the doctor said, hopefully that. One is no big deal, I just might have to move back my wedding. The other might mean that best case scenario, I never have kids.

Less drama more cute pictures though.

My doctor told me the weird sensations in my right side could either be MS or a tumor or some other kind of lesion on my nervous system.
Got two MRIs of my head and neck, both clean, still don't know what it is.
I was super scared that I might have cancer or need brain surgery, but the best thing that calmed me down was to shoot hoops. Get some exercise doing something you enjoy.

That's basically what I've been trying to do. Took some retail therapy today but now that the sun is down and it's too late to go anywhere, I can't get out of my own head so came to /cgl/ for a distraction.

But I'm so glad your's ended up okay! That sounds really scary!

I don't see many cute things other than my occasional strolls through Peds. I don't take pics of them for confidentiality purposes.

But here's a picture of a white blood cell that I thought was funny.

Also if you have any Q's the docs or nurses weren't able to answer, I'll stick around and tell you what I know. A lot of the time *not knowing* is the scariest part of medicine. Thankfully you'll get more info tomorrow.

I had a similar scare a few years ago - I had an ovarian cyst so large I appeared 6 months pregnant (was 20 x 10cm). Strangely enough, I felt no pain...but I did lose my right ovary when it was removed, because there was pretty much no ovary leftover. I was terrified it would be cancerous, but thankfully not. I'm basically permanently on hormal birth control now, but I've been cyst-free for 4 years now, which is awesome!

I don't have any cosplay photos, so I chose something from my J-fashion file - I hope that's ok.

Best of luck to you. Thankfully, a malignant cyst is way more common than cancer (and it's rare for them to get as big as mine did).

That is a lovely outfit! I don't mind at all!

That sounds terrifying though! Good that you're healthy for the last 4 years!

But oh god! That's basically what I'm super afraid of. I don't have any family so kids are a big part of my plan for my life and this is going to be devastating if this renders me unable to have kids of my own especially now that I'm getting married. But adoption is always an option so it's not the end of the world, it's just crazy frustrating and upsetting.

The doctor who did my surgery said that if I do want to get pregnant at some point, I can go off the BC and my chances of getting pregnant are still about the same even with one ovary :)
I don't know the specifics, but apparently you still ovulate every cycle even with one, like your body compensates or whatever.

Have another picture~

Were you getting pap smears every year? Every 3?

The reason I ask is because I just had to go get an odd pap smear result inspected and the obgyn basically told me that for younger people it takes 7-10 years for precancer cells to go fully malignant. It's usually caught pretty quickly and can be dealt with before it gets bad. I wish you the best.

Also it seems like everybody these days goes through a bout of endometriosis and PCOS isn't even that uncommon. You'll be fine. Even with endometriosis a prescription for birth control will have it cleared up in 6 months. If you have a doctor that isn't putting your mind at ease over your chances of getting cancer (which are slim) you should find a new doctor. There is plenty that can go awry down there without really having any permanent effect on your health if you get it treated.

Yay, I'm glad!
Just make sure you get a PAP every year - they say every 3 now, but since you had issues, it's better to do it yearly. My gyno won't even refill my birth control unless I've had a PAP and a check for more cysts.

And to expand on what >>6762508 said, I had an abnormal PAP...about 2 years ago? Very scary situation, but apparently it's fairly common in 20-somethings (usually a viral infection that clears up) and isn't cause for concern 99.9% of the time.

Reading this I realised I'm 22 and haven't had my first one.. When I was about 15 I had to go to the doctors for something downstairs related (tampon issue), but I remember the contraption the woman used was painful for a few seconds, so god knows how this will be.. I don't think I ever want to do a smear test, I'm too paranoid of getting a dodgy person doing it.

You're an idiot then if you're unwilling to get a possibly life saving screening test based on some fears and a few seconds of pain. Find a doctor you like and trust, the majority of doctors are not dodgy at all and smears are very very routine. No, they aren't comfortable, but if you breathe deeply during them and consciously relax they're better. I'm not sure what country you're in, but here we have nurse-led smear clinics so if you prefer one of the nurses you can get them to do it.
