Could we have a "prints we want to see in lolita" thread?

Pic related is mine, I'm a mycologist and would kill for an antique-y mushroom print dress, or really any mushroom print.

I really want more bird prints. I'd like a print with Britsh wading birds like curlews, bitterns, avocets, dunlins etc. And I'd love a print with sea birds like gulls, gannets, albatross, puffins etc. but I doubt I'll ever get either.
I'm a birdwatcher, you see, and I would really like if there were some prints that matched my hobbies.

Birds are so variable!
For sweet, fat little derpy songbirds would make a perfect addition to the kittens and bunnies that we see so often. For gothic, owls! Barn owls in particular have a very mystical, dark feel to them. They'd also work for classic, as well as other more elegant birds like cranes and swans. Hell, swans work for everything.

It all depends on the overall design of the print and the cut of the dress, though. I can talk all I want about how much I'd love a dress with barn owls on it but if the print turns out ugly or the dress unflattering, I still won't buy it.

I would totally buy the mushroom print OP describes.
I'd love to see some william morris or art deco wallpapers in lots of colors. My top ones would be Sage, Teal, Peach, Plum, and Burgundy. Preferably with highlights in each print of more common loli colors like cream, pink, chocolate, sax blue, etc.

Also, vintage maps in a lower contrast especially. Like cream with taupe blouses or black with dark grey.

I would totally buy the mask prints, and would consider bird print items.

I would like to see casual-classic cutsews or something inspired by the crazy old ones from putamayo with public domain illustrations from Sur La Lune's Fairy Tales Gallery. Pic related. Like just take the image in the foreground of the girl with the bird perched on her hand. Pop that onto a cutsewish blouse, wear with a cute headband and a lace skirt. I can picture it in my head.

They can be elegant too, though. Imagine like, a dress with a ruffled bustly thing in the front and a skirt overlay like a moth's wings and a detachable fuzzy peter pan collar. It's pretty much a gijinka at that point but I'd still wear it.

I've always wanted to embroider myself a skirt or JSK with moths, butterflies and/or colourful mushrooms, but I hardly have time to make a simple skirt, much less embroider anything.
Recently I bought a huge amount of beautiful green embroidery silk for a few cents at a flea market, but I can't think of anything that's predominantly green besides, well, flowerless plants. Shrublita?

Watership Down isn't as depressing really. Blackavar doesn't die in the book. To be honest none of the rabbits that die in the book are important. Blackavar dies in the movie but the rest of the deaths are nameless really and it ends on a bittersweet note. Plague Dogs however heavily implies that the dogs die (movie does anyway) and the rest of the movie is a soul draining experience. Plague Dogs is way worse.

I once saw this book filled with block prints about a victorian woman courting satan. One really stuck out as this woman was leaning back kissing a man with devil wings, and I don't remember perfectly but I think she had wings too. I believe it was all about how victorian women were losing their souls to the devil by engaging in such scandalous activities as courting men without supervision or something.

the prints were beautiful and every time I think of them I want to kick myself for not writing down the fucking name. I would pay for my own fabric with those prints on them if I could only remember!

He's not the original artist, but rather someone who collected a bunch of surreal Victorian prints and made even more surreal collages out of them. The original artists are probably unknown but searching 'Une semaine de bonté' will get you a whole bunch of these crazy crazy images.

And if this isn't what you were talking about then that must mean there's even more of this stuff out there. Intriguing.

Max Ernst is the one who took normal pictures from illustrated novels, magazines etc. to create freaky people with fish tails and bird heads using some kind of magical 1930's version of Photoshop. The Victorians were crazy but they weren't THIS crazy.

Hey anon, I actually studied this stuff for a printcollage series I did recently that was inspired by Ernst's work/weird Victoriana. I'm not 100% sure how they did it at the time, but you can get essentially the same seamless effect today without photoshop by the use of xylene solvent transfer. Just in case you're interested in the process. I imagine he might have used a similar, older version of this process if he didn't have access to the original printer plates, similar harsh chemicals that could have lifted the inks must have existed back then.

(Word of warning to anyone who looks into xylene; it's extremely toxic and shouldn't be done without a mask/ventilated area yaddayadda)
