Question.
I'm stuck between who I want to cosplay. Skill level isn't an issue

I love it because it's accurate. I personally strongly dislike those milkshake coloured wigs because (like you said) they're too light. It's even worse when people use body paint in the right colour, and thus mix up her colours (hair light, skin darker). PB's hair is one of her most important aspects. Considering we can't really translate her hairstyle/material 100% correctly to real life, we should at least go for an accurate colour. It's like those people that cosplay Pinkie Pie with milkshake/soft pink wigs. Gah!

i've seen these guys all over my tumblr dash and i'm not sure why they're so popular. the costumes are mediocre at best, the makeup application is poor (did FP paint her legs instead of finding tights?), i'm not even sure what's going on with FP's wig (looks like a flower) and many of the details from the original work are missing. the only one who looks remotely passable is the lemongrab.

am I missing something here?

Completely agreed. Milkshake pink PB wigs drive me absolutely nuts. Her hair is never depicted as that color, and same skin color/hair color PB cosplayers just look gross. It's even worse when the skin paint is darker than the hair.

I also 100% agree with this. They honestly all look pretty sloppy- the complete shapelessness of PB's outfit is especially cringeworthy, and while Flame Princess made an attempt for the wig, it fell flat. I think they're only getting so much attention because they're the first to try doing these cosplays, idk.

i made some design changes to her dress because i didn't think the high collar would be flattering on me (i think my face looks weird with crew necklines). since i took this photo i also added some more details- there's a bit of subtle beading on the lace parts, and a bow for the back of the dress.

i'd just like to know your general thoughts on it, and if you think the current petticoats i have going on are sufficient (i'm wearing two), or if i should add one more or take one away. it seems that whenever we see her default gown in the show her skirt has varying fullness.
also, i'm wondering if perhaps i should have the sides of the wig over the crown? i know her crown goes all the way around her head in canon, but her hair is super thick, so i was thinking that perhaps brushing the wig strands over the crown on the sides will make the wig look thicker on top (it's already two wigs sewn together so i think i could feasibly do it).
