Does anyone have a pattern that could be used for Tsuhiki's kimono thing?

>> No.6680000

Use a normal kimono pattern and hem it shorter...?

>> No.6680007

That's what I mean, I was asking for a kimono pattern that someone had used and would recommend.

Make your own pattern?

I'm not experienced enough with patterns for that I don't think, and I would rather have something to modify as a base.

For the kimono? You can find guides all over the internet and the actual print can easily be replicating. Yes, its going to require some hard work and if you have a problem with this. Then I suggest that you look at something else that meets up with your experience.

Kimono are just squares sewn together... It's literallt the easiest garment to sew.

>> No.6680212

If its of any help to you, that looks to be two parts. A pencil skirt that opens with a wide part (can be done with tiny metal clips) and a kimono esque top.
I can draw you up a pattern when i get off work. Still youre better off posting this in the help thread. They may get to you faster than me.

It's actually one piece. When you wear a kimono you fold it over at the waistband to make it the appropriate length. Of course, putting on kimono is kind of difficult to get right so if you're not familiar with how to do it you might want to make it two pieces.

Wouldn't that be a yukata? I'm not exactly an expert on Japanese garb, but it looks more like a yukata than a kimono to me.

A yukata is a type of kimono.

Just buy a generic kimono pattern from JoAnn when they have those $1 or $1.50 sales. Butterick patterns are currently on sale for $1 each until March 9.

Basically if you can draw a rectangle and use a Ruler, you can pattern a Kimono

>> No.6681085

Those joann kimono patterns are AWFUL. Please don't use those.

http://kurokami-kanzashi.deviantart.com/art/Kimono-Tutorial-Part-1-73781755 is the start of an EXCELLENT kimono tutorial. You'll just need to hem it shorter.

>> No.6681088

http://www.folkwear.com/asian.html and the kimono pattern here isn't bad either.

Also if you want to go full on authentic here's a tutorial for an Obi Musubi that is similar to hers. The kind of Obi that you would want to use for this is called a hanhaba, they're easy to find in Yellow.

>> No.6681102

yeah, that's a super easy obi knot to tie. Basically, the easiest there is.

http://www.shimazakura.com/how-to-tie-yukata-obi-s/81.htm <- to get it to match hers, you'd just have to bring some of the fabric of the bow down to form the tails. Most hanhaba should be long enough for this.

If you need any help for the little designs on her Yukata this would probably be the best approach.

I like to use this brand of paint with this technique.

By awful they mean there are two seams that a Butterick pattern has that a real kimono doesn't.

Trust me when I say, no one can tell. I've made three from Butterick 6698 and no one gives a fuck that there is a seam at the shoulder and there are no arm vents.

But you must wear them properly. No sloppy tying that lets the front open or makes the whole thing sit weird.

These two vids will help you wear it in a tidy way. It will also teach you to tie the obi you want.
