I know where to get the buttons but nobody makes the fabric anymore (most hat repros cut up coats and capes for the fabric) and it's all tailor made (officers) so that's a thousand bucks down the drain.

but you could probably get a pretty similar look with any thick wool dyed the proper color

tbh i don't know what fabric they use for uniforms but you obviously have done your research, i'm sure you could come up with a suitable substitute that'll give you the right weight/drape even if it's not exactly correct

I'm probably going to get told for this but, field uniforms weren't made busted up they had to be new at some time. I say keep it the way it is. I actually prefer it when people keep things historically accurate to the individuals death than just spraying fake blood allover a uniform.
