NDK can't come soon enough

>nazi hotel staff
>5 hour line for pre-reg/reg day 1
>no con program

I did enjoy hanging out with friends and stuff. The cosplays were really great, I hope more people took pictures.

Ultimately this convention was the most impressively bad convention I've been to in terms of organization. I see why they wanted a picture on the badge, but they were in no way equipped to do that for everybody.

I'm feeling relieved that I couldn't go this year. I went once a few years ago for a couple of hours.

I'm really glad I saved my money for Denver Comic Con.

The picture on the badge was required by the hotel staff, not by the people organizing the convention itself. From what I understand, this was a near last minute change by the hotel staff which sort of fucked over the organizers. I'm just glad they relaxed on that picture crap, because the reg line went from 4 hours to 1 hour.

And I can't complain about wasabi, for some reason it is easier to interact with strangers at that con, whereas NDK seems to be filled with pretentious dicks and cliques that are hard to penetrate.

Eh. It was okay. I only went on Saturday because I really didn't feel like spending the money to stay in a hotel all weekend.

The artist's alley/dealer's room was okay, I got a cute alpaca and some cheap manga. But I'd rather go to NDK's dealer room, even with the crazy lines and massive amounts of people.

I liked Wasabi because it wasn't extremely overcrowded and it felt like a place to hang out with friends rather than some huge convention. But I'm very introverted and don't like being around a lot of people, so maybe others would disagree.

It was my first year going and overall, it was a good way to spend a Saturday. But I don't know if I'll go again.

btw I was Pikachu, and I did not get my kigu from the dealer's room, I've had mine for like a year.

ps. Homestuck, Homestuck everywhere.

Oh hey I took photos of you and your lolita friend.

So things I have to say about Wasabi, having been staff:
>Hotel royally sucked and I am extremely disappointed and I would like to say that much of the drama at the convention this year was largely the hotel's fault.
>That said, yeah we did fuck up a lot. Mostly the higher ups and their inability to do things when they need to be done; they know they need to do them but don't get on it and end up half-assing them last minute.
>This convention was the worst Wasabi ever and we all agree and we're all very upset.
>I'm very sorry it sucked so bad, I was busting my butt to make the convention better, but a convention takes a well-communicated staff and volunteer team. That was something that was unfortunately not worked out well before the convention. And it makes me very angry.
>It can and will be better next year.

Given that, the panels were still not that great. There were one or two decent ones, though. It's funny that everything wasabi does well, NDK does really poorly, and vice versa. The video game room, anime room, and lack of crowds and lines were great, but the panels, dealer's room, and cosplay competition weren't good.

That video game room always had room and rock band was a lot of fun. Anime room isn't usually worth mentioning, but I remember it was funny going to the anime room at NDK and seeing like 5 people waving fans at a blu-ray player trying to prevent it from overheating and the video crashing all the time.

The dealer's room and cosplay competition are far and away better at NDK, obviously. Pretty much goes without saying.

Sooooo that's why there wasn't a gripe session? That was really the only reason to go on a sunday.

I kid, I kid. Moving to another hotel is going to be rough next year though.

Rougher than staying in this terrible hotel?
>Hallway of a convention
>Extremely uptight about a dress code (that as far as I'm aware, we didn't know until we got going)
>Rude staff

Also yes there was a gripe session. I didn't check the schedule but I walked into main events around 6:30 or so and there was some sort of feedback thing in session; 6 or so of us sitting in chairs circled around one of the con directors.

I'm aware that RMFC is hosted here, or at least has been in the past. But that convention is much smaller and not so taxing to the hotel. I heard that we're the biggest event they've ever hosted, but I can't confirm.

We will be moving hotels next year. We will not be staying here.

Wow, 7? I knew about a few but I didn't know it was that many.

Some girl was mixing alcoholic drinks in the bathroom on Saturday afternoon. Some other guys were taken out for multiple(?) accounts of sexual harrassment.

What I really hated about this con was the rave, it attracted a ton of undesirable characters that only came for that event alone.

>> No.6667284

I feel like this is true of any rave at a decently popular con.

>> No.6667319

I had a good time. All in all, I actually had a little more fun at this con than I did at last NDK. I don't go to panels though, and I agree that the lack of a schedule/map is a problem. I'd post a pic, but I'm on mobile. If anybody's got that kickass Protoman, please post him for me.

There's your problem, OP.

You live in a state where you can smoke pot, but can't buy a magazine with more than 15 rounds.

Move now.
