I don't personally make a big deal of it when I cosplay, I actually focus more on making stuff look a bit more on the realistic side (unless it's a particularly inhuman character). But I think it's interesting, especially when people do it for personal fashion instead of just cosplay. I'm always fascinated by people who seem to blur the line between reality and fiction. It might be unhealthy if you take it too far, but I dunno. Most of the time I just find it cool/intriguing.
