So seagulls, what do you do with your old con badges?

Do you keep them on the lanyards as momentos? Do you toss them? Have you found a way to make something cool with them? Do you have a special way of displaying them?

Share your thoughts, ideas, pics!

I keep them on their lanyards and hang them up on my wall in order of when I went. I make sure to get a button and a bow to clip on just for a few more memories.

I have a loft bed (like a bunk bed,) so I just hang them all in a corner underneath.

>> No.6647912

I keep wanting to frame mine or something, but i have about 15, so it really seems silly... Though it's hard for me to just toss them.

>> No.6647934

I just dangle all the lanyards off a post of my bed.
If they're the clip-on kind, I clip it to a "main" lanyard.

I have two walls where I hang my badges. One for ones for cons that I attend, and badges specifically for badges who's art I got onto them. I'm a badge contest hoar.

Right now, they're hanging on my doornoob. Plan on putting them in my "Memories Box" in the near future.

>>6647912
Never thought doing that. I might fram my own badges one day.

I keep all of mine as mementos from the con. I have a little tin I like to keep them all in. I think I'm only really missing one con badge from Zenkaikon the first year I went, because it was a printed piece of paper on string.

>> No.6648185

I keep mine and my boy's clipped onto some cute bunting on the wall in our closet. It seems like a waste to throw them out when you spend so much on getting that little badge in the first place. (plus some of the artwork is cute!)

want to waer all 6 years of them at the same tim to con. or maybe hang from ears

I'm young and know that I'll be going to conventions for at least a few more years before I stop (whether I continue going to conventions in cosplay or not, who's to say).
Getting them framed is a neat idea and I'd really like to do that, I think. But I don't want to go out of my way to do that until I'm done, hah.

I've met a lot of really great friends at conventions and made a ton of connections. Also conventions got me into cosplaying which has become a real hobby for me now and has helped me branch into other things like ball gowns and things. And what >>6648185 said. Why throw them out when you spend so much money on them?
Right now I have them all clipped onto the lampshade of a light I have at home. But eventually they'll be clipped around the entire lampshade, so I'll need to find another lamp to use, hah.

>> No.6648260

I throw them away. Useless things unless you plan to create fakes for next year.

>> No.6648274

I keep them as mementos. Right now, they're hanging from a chain on my wall in the order I got them. But I have a loft bed that has Christmas lights, fake ivy, and fake flowers pinned all up underneath it, so I'm thinking I'll just pin my badges along the lights.

I one a T-shirt one year for pre-registering, but I'm not a T-shirt wearing person. So I pin my old con badges to that and have it hanging up so I see it every day. The memories associated with each year still resonate within me.

That's a really good idea. I won a prize at Otakon's hall costume contest a few years ago which included a 2XL shirt. Being a XS female, I never wore the shirt, but that sounds like a good way to use the shirt and display the badges! Thank you for sharing!

>>6648376
That's pretty badass. I love this idea too! Hahah.

I'm mildly into scrapbooking, and I have an entire scrapbook dedicated to my badges and the little things I acquired at each con. It's a nice way to store them and all of the memories you have.

>> No.6649527

That's a cute idea too and as you say, a nice way to also incorporate other things you pick up. Do you have templates you use or do you just set your pages up just using things you have?

>> No.6649564

I just keep them lying around in my room. So far I've only been to 5 cons, but I love collecting badges. I don't ever want to ghost just because I like badges so much.

A friend of mine in high school would take XXL shirts, stretch the neck to the size of her waist, and cut the shirt into a miniskirt.

Only have a very sad 2 badges (will be 4 by summer), I just keep them hanging on my wall in a mural with other sentimental things. They are covered in all the pins and buttons I buy at the con (because I'm a whore for those things).

So far I just hang them up on a string. I'm missing three, Kumori '09 and '10 (didn't preregister so they were just printed pieces of paper with my name hand-written on it. pretty weak so I just threw them out) and Aki '11, but I'm gonna be getting 6 more this year so I guess that makes up for it

>> No.6656139

I wear the most important ones on a clip with keychains, keys, and a couple lanyards I almost always wear when I go out. Others I either keep in a box somewhere, or in the case of cons that were total nightmares, I throw them out.

I just throw mine away.

I made a guitar pick out of my credit card a couple of weeks ago, maybe you can do that with your con badge.
