Hokay, so, /cgl/ I seek your advice.

I am going to dip dye my hair in two tones this week (possibly tomorrow actually). My friends dyed stuff before and I've seen her work on some of our other friends and I'm impressed with it and confident to let her do mine, and she agreed to do it too. So I'm covered on the how since I'm leaving it up to her

what I'm looking for is good dyes? Most places I look up or on tutorials I find say manic panic, but I feel like I've heard trash talked about them before here on /cgl/ so if you guy's have some higher quality recommendations I'd be super happy. Bonus points if I can pick it up in a store instead of have to order it in.

Pravana a thousand times over. Manic Panic is shit. Pravana is legitimate salon-tier whacky hair dye that doesn't require developer. It provides gorgeous color and lasts for a long, long time. I get mine on eBay for less than $10, and it's a pretty decent sized tube. Look for the ChromaSilks.

Fuck no. Special Effects or Directions all the way. Blue Velvet (SFX) is my favourite for a really deep purply blue, and Midnight Blue (Directions) is also fantastic. Stay away from Blue Haired Freak and Lagoon Blue though, both washed out really fast on my hair.
