She doesn't look old, but she looks too old to cosplay that character who has a very youthful charm to her. She might have pulled this off better with different makeup.

The padding is really visible which is painful to look at. Also that wig isn't styled and doesn't fit her at all (people need to stop using the Chibi wigs for everything...ugh).

The rest of it you can barely see.

>> No.6575825

>>6575715

I don't want to agree with most of the comments but the person does seem too old to be cosplaying a high schooler. I don't know if it's just the makeup or what but... yeeeaaahhhh. The wig could've done with a little more styling on the bangs and the pigtails. I don't particularly like when people use a bobby pin in place of a good amount of hair spray and swept styling. Pigtails could've been teased a little for more volume or even added wefts because they just seem too thin. Heck, she probably should've gone with a thicker wig all around.

Cosplay wise, she REALLY should've checked to make sure her padding wouldn't show in pictures. That's really the only costume thing I see that really stands out to me as the rest of the costume seems to be good quality.

Random tidbit - but why did the photographer have to make their watermark so dang big? Personal pet peeve.

Yeah, I realize that, but as Anon said, it won't kill you to take it off for a cosplay you'll be wearing for a few hours.

I'm not the person you're replying to, but while wearing rings or other jewelry in a cosplay is annoying for me, I think that flipping it around to only show the band is acceptable. The actual diamond/jewel though is not subtle enough.

No, you idiot. I just don't have any willingness to take it off. It's not disrespecting anything. I'm pretty sure my fiancee would like to take her's off for costumes. I don't mind at all. Refusing to remove jewelry or piercings for a cosplay is an annoying thing since it shows a lack of commitment to the cosplay. The person is essentially saying "I want to cosplay but I'm really not willing to alter my appearance that much, even to remove some basic pieces of metal from my daily wear. I'll just throw on a costume of some sort and that will be enough."

I'm sure you can always come up with a convenient excuse on why you can't be arsed to take off a silly ring for a cosplay. None of which stops it from looking stupid.

Can you honestly say that when you look at OP's pic you don't notice a large gaudy ring on her left hand? Of course you do. It's clearly visible. Why would a teenage cheerleader in high school be wearing a large wedding ring?

It isn't a big thing, but it is a glaring inaccuracy and flaw. And as I said, it shows just how much the cosplayer really doesn't care about the cosplay. Some cosplayers go to great lengths to personify the character as much as possible, others just don't seem to care very much. People with rings and facial piercings clearly don't care.

If you're nervous about something expensive being stolen at a con (don't blame you), then you don't need to bring it in the first place.

There isn't a big reason to display to everyone that you're taken. If someone's getting a bit too close, ask them to back down, tell them you're not interested, ect, ect.

>>6579171
I respect that, but if you're going to keep it on, try to make it as unnoticeable as possible. Turn it around so there's only a small band, wear gloves (if applicable), try to pose in a way that would hide it from photos, ect.
In OP's pic, it stands out. A lot. It's big, the picture is fairly close up, and she's not doing anything to make it any less noticeable.

You honestly expect someone to approach you at a con and say "excuse me miss, but that piece of jewelry your wearing isn't appropriate to your character. I'm highly offended"? Of course not. But that doesn't mean it isn't a glaring inaccuracy. And even if people aren't like me and have a conscious annoyance by it, it will still make your costume look that much lamer.

Again, you can make up any excuse you want for having some superstitious need to wear your rings during cosplay. Maybe you feel your marriage will crumble or the spirit of your dead brother will fade to the after life. But that doesn't stop it from looking bad.
