Sewing, crafts, make-up, snf lolita room thread!

Organising your space is very important in crafting and a big part of the lolita style, especially as it's wardrobe time again. Going to start with some OC, try not to post rehashes from previous threads. Bonus points for lolita/harajuku style rooms and ingenious storage solutions!

I keep a lot of my materials in clear plastic bins of a lot of sizes and that stack on each other, and smaller items like spools of thread in small organizers, which I think I'll change out or later.

In an organizer magazine, I read that it'd be good to organize the sewing items by color in small clear bins/organizers so if you're only looking for "blue" threads, buttons, etc., you won't have to search through your spool rack, your button jar, and such for blue things among other colors.

Aaah I think these little racks would be a nice place to start when I finally have a need to organize my stuff...
For some reason that reminded me though of my little dream room, I sort of want to make a spool-rack thing on a larger scale and store wigs that way, on a wall where the window wont shine on them too much.

There's just something so appealing about the idea of a huge wig-rack wall.

It's part of the lolita aesthetic. Back in the day, when lolita first started out, lolita was not about the next print or brand dress, it was about going out in the dress you'd sewn yourself, hence why the GLB's still produce sewing patterns and tutorials. Making your garments was half the fun, and so it is an essential to have an organized sewing space. Having a sewing space that reflects the chosen lolita aesthetic is simply logical, especially when one sees the effort of lolita brand stores interior decorating and the interior decorating of lolita model's homes.

here, I actually do have cats and they do like to smash into the wall, any wall, for no reason. We don't usually hang smaller stuff on our walls but if we did, it wouldn't stay there for long. There's a very good reason our cats are not allowed in the sewing room.

Then I'm sure you will be aware that cats have very different personalities from each other. You can't judge if that person's cats are the type to bounce off the walls, or if they are more laid back and just play on their toys. If they put the cat climbing thing near the sewing room, I'd imagine that their cats are not particularly interested in climbing onto the sewing desk and injuring themselves on the scissors on the wall. I'm sure the owners are very aware of their cats and how they behave.

Self posting some new stuff.
Sorry for the crummy pics, I'll be re-taking them + reorganizing some of my stuff if I end up doing a wardrobe post.

My room is pretty eclectic at the moment (aka I buy a lot of weird crap.)

I just realized that I still haven't put a picture in that damn picture frame in the bottom right photo! I really need to get on to that.

I think it's more for places that have a spare room or an unused linen press. A lot of people don't really need a full office so it's a nice space saver.

I'm jelly of so many of these sewing rooms. I recently organized mine and I still have zero room to build shelves for it. It's a pathetically small room and I have way too much fabric in bins.
