Can we get a tips and ticks to make your own hair look great in cosplay thread?

Sometimes it's really annoying to wear a wig, especially if it's the same colour/length as your own and it's the middle of summer.

What can people do to not make it look so shitty to use their own hair?

Never use your real hair, ALWAYS wear a wig.
If a wig is too fussy for you, either don't cosplay, or get a better quality wig.

Why would you only want to make your hair look good in cosplay? Why not everyday?

Shampoo, conditioner, marrakesh oil. Thats my routine and my hair is soft and shiny.

I just did a cosplay with my real hair, but it was a comic character and they're a lot more realistic than anime and gaming characters so I think I got away with it.
In saying that I own a million wigs and love using them, a lot less up keep when you can style it like a rock and just chuck it on

Honestly, the character I want to cosplay in the future has hair exactly like mine, same color, same overall cut, and the same style to it. I'm not going to buy a wig of the hair that I already have, that would be dumb. (also, not OP)

It's Cassandra from Soul Calibur. She just has normal blonde hair, sometimes in a high ponytail, depending on the game/outfit.

Pulled back real hair always looks too thin compared to a wig, plus she has full bangs and sidepieces. You need a wig. Same for her bob cut, it's razored but full.

Unless there's funny business with a hairline, a wig is always necessary.

I'm half mexican. My hair is blonde, but thick as fuck, and I think every teenager in the past ten years has had the bang/sidebit fringe. It's not exactly hard to do.

You know, I was thinking of pulling out an old cosplay of mine for Friday at Ohayocon. I'm only going to be there 6 and after, probably, and I was to dress a little, but not a lot. I

My hair is already this color and could be styled like this. Guess it can't be any worse than I'd look if I just plain clothes'd it.

can we see your hair? blur out your face if you want to stay anon

There are rare exceptions. Wigs are better for anime characters because they tend to have big, poofy, shiny hair. If a character has realistic hair, I've seen some people pull it off without a wig. Especially if it's really short; wigs can only be so short. Or if your natural hairline shows.
