... Why isn't there more Gundam X cosplay? I've been considering cosplaying Jamil Neate thanks to my naturally wavy brown hair, but I'm somewhat put off by the plethora of con horror stories I've read on here.

I mean, I'm sure there's some out there, but all I ever really hear about is UC, Wing, 00 and on the rare occasion, G Gundam cosplay, but not very much X cosplay. Is there any reason besides "It's too obscure" or "It wasn't popular enough"?

I COULD be a decent Jamil, provided I get the proper materials and costume makeup applied. I'm right around the 5' 8" - 5'9" mark, so I'm just the right height for the cosplay as well. My eyes are a sort of brownish green color, whereas Jamil's are stated to be brown, but thankfully, Jamil was wearing dark aviators throughout the majority of the series, so I think that's a minor detail I could get away with.

Horror stories really aren't as common place as you might imagine. And I actually always thought that Seed and Wing were cosplayed the most out here? They're always in the majority when I look at gatherings, it seems like.

And don't worry about your eyes! They really are a minor detail that people generally won't bother you about. I'd bet you'd make some people really happy if you cosplayed from X. I personally love it when I see cosplayers from lesser known things I enjoy, makes it all the more special!

I'd honestly forgotten about SEED, mainly because of Destiny. Can you blame me, though? Anyway, yeah, Wing, SEED, and 00 seem to be the three most common, with Universal Century trailing behind, with the occasional G Gundam cosplay.

Speaking of Gundam cosplay, what are some of the more well-made mobile suit cosplays you guys have seen, either in person or here on /cgl/?

I'd love to see G Gundam cosplay. I met someone at a hotel I was staying at for AX '12, and they said they saw a Domon and Rain. I couldn't believe that I had missed them! So disappointing.

I haven't started paying attention to gundam extensively until recently, but right now my favorite pilot cosplay I've got saved is this Sai Saici. For a little while, I wanted to cosplay Saici, and I really liked how this person handled their wig. I liked the way they managed to mock his crazy hair line with just some nice cut and style work.

I've seen a couple of really handsome, well done Chars as well online, and I regret not having saved 'em.

I hope to be a good Char too. Hopes and dreams.

there are like 3 groups of NA Gundam fans:
1. super hardcores (zeon apologists, UC purists, can normally name of hilariously obscure MS variants like nothing)
2. 'casual' Gundam fans (have seen some UC but mostly AU series, all around the best of the 3)
3. SEEDfags (I HATE using SEED as the scapegoat for this tier but after being exposed to this fandom for years I've realized that almost all the narutard-tier Gundam fans dont explore too far from SEED and Destiny, maybe 00 or Wing, the worst of the 3 tiers)

I have no idea where I'd fall... I've got 0079, Zeta, CCA and G under my belt and I wouldn't consider myself a super expert in anything by any means. I'm just kinda slowly working my way through as much as I can.

I've got my favorite mobile suits but as a role player (hurr durr) I enjoy observing characters most. Probably kind of explains why I find Char so fascinating..? I dunno', I'm a loser dork.

That shade is pretty much in line this the HG models, so I wouldn't sweat it.

This guy here has a nice solution for the hands. You can always take your hand out of the mech hand to grab and hold stuff normally.
