honestly thank you. Usually we get a few good ones. Summer we had some sweet ones. Winter is always lower quality, especially being the same weekend as anime LA. I think that is why when people said mine and my Eridan's were the best we were confused since they were made with cheap material.

I'm not the anon you're responding to, but I'll say this: I've been cosplaying for about a year and half now- I know I'm still relatively new to the scene, but so be it. I've also been trying to lose weight for the past year and a half (for the sake of cosplay, but also so that I'm happier and healthier etc etc etc). And you know what? I've been losing weight- there's a noticeable difference from when I started, and I feel great about that. But I'm not there yet- I'm far from a twig, and I've got quite a lot of meat on my bones. Does that mean I'm going to stop cosplaying until I finally get to that "ultimate goal weight" or whatever?? Jesus tapdancing christ of course not! I'm not about to quit a hobby that I love just because I'm not perfect at it! I am, however, going to keep working harder- to get better at cosplay, to lose more weight and become more toned, to live a happier and healthier life in general.

I feel like we spend a lot of time over here on /cgl/HSG giving critique- some of it harsh, some of it unwanted, but at the end of the day it's always best when the person hear's a critique and heeds its advice. The thing is- if a dress if poorly made, if a wig isn't styled right, if a fabric is the wrong color- you can always change those things, usually within a matter of hours. Losing weight takes time, though- I can't just say "Oh hold on let me go take out these seams and take it in a little."

So, yeah. I guess what I'm trying to say is stop being a bag of dicks.

I made a sewing tutorial for a Homestuck prop/accessory a while back and now I've noticed a commissioner selling items that look an awful lot like how my pattern turns out. i've already done a terrible cosplay of that, haha. the design is from duedlyfirearms (same person who did the trickster roxy one) and it's been around for ages.
i only say it's terrible because i have no good pictures of it and the skirt is a handsewn nightmare, but now i have motivation to actually fix it. i'll save you the self posting nightmare, but i'm pretty sure you could easily find it by searching for trickster jane cosplays. please don't.

FYI, my prop wasn't shitty. It was the only fork-scepter there that was actually proportional, had the correct number of prongs, and the right skaia design on the bottom. However, yes somethings could be improved. That morning, the ball on the bottom had been kicked off by a little shit of kid on the way back to my hotel room. I fixed it the best I good for the remainder of the con, and I am currently working on completely redoing the ball because there were so many people at Sac who were incredibly rude (I had my prop grabbed from me at least 3 times, the ball kicked more than once) regarding respect of other's props that the ball was practically destroyed.
So if you have any actually advice, I'd be willing to listen. Otherwise you're being as much of a dick as the kid who damaged my prop.
