250 euro for a wooden replica weapon?

Is cosplay really this expensive?

>> No.6487432

No, that's just trekkie fans selling LARP weapons

But why are they so expensive?

I've bought quality machetes for less than that ...

Is it purely because they're Star Trek?

Do people really pay this much?

never question the power of a fanboy with his wallet ready. most people would agree with you that it's stupid to buy. but put something in front of them that they like and BAM logic goes flying out the window. i've done it myself.

I do commissions for props and armor, and often for me it's the opposite. People want to pay way less than just the cost of materials.

The older Taobao thread has some Sailor Moon plastic wands for eight thousand dollars.

Like >>6487438 said, fans will buy damn near anything.

I know a LARPer who gladly spent $250 on a simply boffer two-hander because he doesn't know how to haggle politely. Yeah, mats and man hours are going to figure into cost, but a lot of people overestimate those costs.

Make your own if you only want to spend the cash on mats.
