I was actually hoping for a thread like this.
My best friend, she's a huge koreaboo. She's well.. fat. and her current fashion obsession is knee high socks. its unbearable. really fucking unbearable. hanging out with your plump friend who wears shorts, striped knee highs, and crocs. knee highs and crocs. please help me. please. She has no problem collecting BJDs so I don't think buying fashion for herself will be a problem. but where the fuck do you get clothes for someone that big?

She's in for a rude awakening should she ever actually visit/move to Korea.

Why would you go to SK?? Are you retarded or something or just a big koreaboo?

She knows it. She was on her way to losing weight but she's currently taking medicine that made her blow up....

this is what she wore last week.

now imagine that on someone fat. I love my friend.. but she looked like a domo-turd that day.

All I know is that you'll want to be as skinny as you can be while still being healthy if you want to fit into the clothes.

By the way this a girl that went to South Korea and still made a lot of friends in her previous weight. Then she went back as the new weight, and they were amazed. She must be quite skinny now, I wonder what she looks like.

This.

When I went there were two overweight girls in my group and it never seemed to be a problem. We all speak Korean and none of us ever heard a bad thing about their weight. If anything it was old Korean people complaining that our accents were off.

I didn't hear any explicitly racist things either. I think they're all too *amazed* that someone that doesn't look like them speaks their language. Don't get me wrong though, they're terribly ignorant about other cultures and so they believe a lot of shitty stereotypes.

Also, it totally depends on which part of SK you go to. Most girls don't dress like Kpop stars, a fair amount dress like those street snap fashion photos though. They're very trendy so just go and bring like 100 bucks then buy shit from street vendors. Done.

Or you can just browse taobao shops and recreate those looks. The only things that seem to stay throughout the trends and seasons are high heels and micro mini skirts.

She's given up at losing weight at this point which stresses me out. I'd just be glad if she didn't look like a domoturd.

How big is she? Did she tell her doctor her medication was making her gain weight? Can they switch medications?

>> No.6483451

k-fashion looks more about being thin and pretty (ulzzang) than the actual clothes themselves

so if you're not all of the above, visit some of the plastic surgery clinics there during your stay and you'll be right as rain

This. Maybe copy the looks on op: http://english.gmarket.co.kr/

But it will be a lot cheaper when if you order when you get to Korea.

I would say to prep now, get as many fashionable clothes as you can from wherever you are now. Remember that showing shoulders in public is considered slutty to koreans though. Koreans will go crazy over American or whatever foreign country clothes.

Thanks, this was helpful!

I heard Koreans aren't to hott on tat's and I have ones going from my shoulders to an inch above my elbow, so showing shoulders would probably be a no-go for me anyways.

Just buy a dresser full of horizontal striped shirts, when I was there I swear it's what 1/3 people were wearing.

They aren't going to shun you if you have a tattoo necessarily but the stereotypes surrounding them are much more dramatic and they are seen as unprofessional by many people.

Ugh, there is no way any plus size girl should use being plus sized/fat as an excuse to dress like that. There are plenty of fashionable shops that make plus size clothes that look fine.

I don't know how you feel about Simon and Martina, but they did a video not to long about fashion and foreigners there.

This.
Korea isn't quite like Japan when it comes to Tattoos. It might hinder a job, but unlike japan you aren't going to be barred from going places if you have them.
