6473731 No.6473731 [Reply] [Original]

I've got a specific BL shoe question, but in the meantime waiting for assistance this can be a general "post things from Bodyline you love, own, or are curious about" thread.

Anyway, my question is about sizing for Bodyline's RHS. More specifically, pic related. I've ordered flat canvas Converse-esque shoes from Bodyline before in size 250 that fit perfectly, however Google results for Bodyline RHS say to both order a size up, a size down, and just order true to your cm size.

For me this is a problem, considering I have my heart set on the white ones, but they are out of stock on both Bodyline and Cosmates.jp in my size, and Google also tells me that Bodyline nearly never restocks their shoes unless they're very popular. So:

Question A: for shoes263, should I (in theory) just order 250 or dare chance a size up or down?
Question B: How screwed am I? Is there nowhere else to get those shoes new in white without having to pay far more than necessary (BL Rakuten via SS).

Not the person you're replying to, but I own it in off-white.
It's actually pretty nice, the material is really soft and if you wear it as a cutsew with something over it, it's pretty cosy. The embroidery on mine was good, the lace was decent and the fit is pretty nice. Only complaint I'd have is that one or two of the button holes were sewn too small for the buttons and I had to open them up a bit, but that's not much of a hassle.

I know what you mean about the collar, but I actually like the hugeness; I tend to wear it for casual outfits like a very minimal lace tiered skirt and solid tights and maybe a few very small pieces of jewelry and headbow, and since everything else is so incredibly toned down, the cardigan has most of the attention and it balances out fine.

Basically it works really well for toned down casual looks but in a bigger coord I could see it being a problem.

I'm really liking this new design by Bodyline. Opinions?

>> No.6480626

I've only bought the L315 (long sleeve peterpan collar blouse that comes in a couple different colors.) I needed a cheap sweet pink blouse for the one sweet dress I have. The other classic blouses I do own didn't match.

I have to say I was really disappointed by the fit. Usually I buy for my boobs and the waist naturally fits (I've had this experience mostly with classic brands/offbrands) but the bodyline blouse was literally a box. the waist was really big. It has some crappy corset back, so when I did wear it- I just tightened it around the waist as much as I could. The armpits were also strangely low, which is a common construction problem in cheaper companies- This is a pain because when you lift your arms, the whole shirt comes with you. The lace was on quality with some cheaper taobao pieces, and the fabric was a bit weirdly stiff. I'm sure the fabric would have softened up after a few washes.

In short- I sold it. I'm hesitant to buy more than shoes from bodyline now.

Oh God I could see that. I think it looks nice in dark blue and pink. The light blue screams "Alice in Wonderland" so I'm torn on liking it and not liking it since that theme is kind of overplayed.

I do like that Bodyline is making a few of it's new prints in dark green though. It's not a common color in lolita but can look really pretty if done right.

Cards though... all I'm thinking is poker table loli now...

>> No.6480645

>>6480640
I'm just not a fan of the allover print. It would look really cute in every color (except poker table) if the cards were just on the bottom half of the skirt.

As it is, I like the idea of the pink and light blue but the print looks too muddy on it. The red one is the best one. Just go full-hog "off with her head" on the coord.

>> No.6481523

>>6480508
This skirt is great, honestly, I have it in black as well. As with most Bodyline skirts it isn't the fullest in the world but it's really decent for the price and the corset waist is very sturdy, I was very pleasantly surprised. The fabric is their typical matte cotton, all edges are finished with overlock stitches.

I'm also interested in firsthand info on >>6480044
I've looked through all the reviews and photos of it that I could find via google, and it seems to be really beautiful IRL so I'm just worried about the sizing. Since it isn't adjustable in any way, can any owners give their thoughts as to how it fits on your measurements please? This dress is a good 5-7 cm more than most of Bodyline's size M items so I'm worried about the fit.

>The armpits were also strangely low, which is a common construction problem in cheaper companies- This is a pain because when you lift your arms, the whole shirt comes with you.

This is also a major problem with Bodyline's military OP, and I'm will within the average measurement sizerange for that dress, so yeah. It's a thing with them unfortunately.

I've never liked a single Bodyline blouse I've worn. They just feel very "cheap" against your skin. I like the dresses I've had from them though, so maybe it's just a thing with their blouses idk.

>>6481543
Yeah, I suppose it has something to do with blouses usually not being the center of attention of an outfit. It's usually the part that touches your skin the most though other than undergarments, so I don't get why they wouldn't make them more comfortable at least.

Since nobody else has mentioned Bodyline's coats, just putting it out there - they're made of synthetic felt-like material, some are lined and some aren't. They're warm until the first wash, then the material becomes a bit more porous and wind starts coming through (?). For the ones with the little capelets, the capelets make a huge difference in warmth.

They're very much one season (and at best two season) wear clothes, the felt-like material starts pilling very heavily and looks ragged after a while even with washing it turned inside out and so on. You see noticeable damage with each wash.

You obviously dont know how to take care of your clothing.
Spot cleaning can be done with ease for spills, and the cleaning process is suitable for delicate pieces because its the soap that ruins the coat, not the act of washing it.

Stop making bullshit claims about how I must not know how to take care of my clothing because you're a disgusting slob who thinks "spot cleaning" makes coats actually clean and goes around with filthy smelly coats.
>the soap that ruins the coat
It's the water, dumbfuck, not that you'd actually know from the rest of your post. Suede and wool coats are ruined by water because the fibres undergo a process called "felting", certain polyester fibres stiffen and break down. These things would happen short of a protective coating regardless of whether the coat was in the laundry, in the rain, snow or if someone spilled coffee. Also.

>Cleaners can also do washing for you that is not dry cleaning.
Again, do you believe that dry cleaners do not do this washing with oh, washing machines that involve tumbling the clothing around inside?
>What makes it dry cleaning is that it is done without water. (I was assistant manager of a dry cleaners for 4 years)
Actually, it's a petroleum-based chemical solvent that is added to water and the idea that it is 'dry' is a misnomer. You were a shit assistant manager who failed high school chemistry class because you would have learned that.

It doesn't look cheap/ugly in real life, I own it in black.
Pleasantly surprised me.
Not a fan of velveteen anyway, but it definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

While we're talking about clothing care...

I've heard that drycleaners are not an option for dresses with screenprints because they'll melt off. Would an otherwise cotton white screenprinted dress be okay in Oxyclean? I want to get it back to its bright white- a single day's wear in the city seemed to rub off all the fucking grime in the universe on it, somehow...

I have it in beige and I'm hoping they restock the red version, because it's one of their better products. The waist is a bit wide for me, but I usually wear it with corset on.

I was interested in this at first, but Bodyline really can't do mutton sleeves properly, and it looks rather short for my height. Besides, I'm suspicious about the fabric.

I would advise, provided that it's cotton and not velvet or peach skin or something, that you wash it on the gentle cycle in your washing machine. Put it in a lingerie bag and choose the "extra rinse" option. Often, when white things are a bit dingy, it's because detergents and pollutants didn't get fully rinsed out.

It also helps to use a super mild detergent, like the kinds recommended for washing babies' clothing.

It's a knit cotton, it's a cutsew dress. I'll try this and then air dry it, thank you very much anon!

Is anyone else having trouble with Bodyline's site not loading? It's been like that all day for me today, and the only way I can see it is with a cached copy of the site which isn't helpful at all because I still can't browse for anything.

make sure to turn it inside out to protect the print.

Yes, me too. It's normal, it does that sometimes, their server is crap and they have never fixed it.

Maaan, If they would fix that, their non-Japanese customer service and their restocking system they would do SO much better. Right now their only appeal is their shoes and cheap accessories and beginner-loli items. It's a wonder Bodyline has lasted as long as it has.
