reposting here -
Looking for different ideas for lotta. I've done white/brown/bordeux/ivory/default fawn colored accessories.
But I'm really looking for something more unique? I was hoping to get some ideas on baby blues? I'd love to pull out the blue in the print from the birds. I have some baby blue fawn accessories I would want to go with it from ashley_rose on etsy (collar and anklets). Any ideas?
of course, any other different color combos you can think of would also be welcome!

oh i love the earrings! I have a brown sheer sleeved blouse to sub in for the one pictured (also kidsyoyo) and I have those shoes and a similar pair of tights. This is great, going to dress up my form tomorrow and see how it looks. Sauce on earrings? I do not think the anklets will work with the boots, with such dark blouse and boots I could toss in my chocolate IW book bag and maybe tie a blue ribbon around one of the straps. Thanks anon.

Would you think a purple or lavender would work? I can't really picture it in my head.

Not sure if you intended to, but you originally mixed quite peachy pinks (tights and rose) with the blouse which looks like quite a blue, icy pink, which bugged me. I couldn't quite decide if I wanted to go more military or more conservative schoolgirl with the whole thing hence the jewelry is somewhat random.

Obviously anything reminiscent of the colours or items in a schoolgirl outfit will automatically make it look more schoolgirlish, so avoid white shirts, blazers, knee socks, brogues/mary janes, etc. You could go with a short bustier and heels if you wanted to co-ord it in a non lolita way.

I wear lolita as my casual clothing, I don't see the point of paying so much for a dress and wearing it to meet-ups only. I don't HAVE to be "appropriate" for any situation other than work, day to day practicality, and formal occasions, so lolita is just as appropriate for the grocery store as it is for a meet-up.

>>6471911
Well for one, it's a bit misnamed since you've got a very sweet looking headbow and bag with a very classic looking dress.

Also, did you just decide that all reds match? The red of the bag, necklace and headbow is a very bright almost orangey red compared to the dress, socks and shoes, and I don't think that in this instance it works that well.

The style of the headbow, bag, and ring/necklace are also at total odds with the rest of the outfit as they're "red with white trim" rather than "red with white" i.e. the headbow has white lace trim whereas the dress has a block of red and a block of white.

I'd go with plain red smallish headbow OR flower corsage in the same velvet/red as the dress, a satchel bag in white or red (NOT both at once), faux-ruby ring/necklace/earring/bracelet set in gold, and shoes with a similar style but perhaps a slightly higher heel

Yeah, I meant the one at the bottom.

If you're concerned about the coord being boring, a nice bolero in navy or statement coat/jacket will make it more interesting. The Roland jacket in OP pic is still available in navy velvet....

In terms of interesting hair, fancy braided updos are much more interesting and uncommon than a plain curly wig.

This is the first thing I have ever sewn, also the first time I have posted.
(nervous)

The picture doesn't show but the middle layer is a pink/white vertical stripe to match the main colour of the dress. I have also sewn a bow of the same striped material which I haven't attached yet but was thinking of putting at the bottom of the front panel where it turns into the skirt. It doesn't make a lot of difference but the bodice is also fully lined.

I was wondering what accessories (necklaces, bracelets etc.) I could put with this. I'm really bad when it comes to accessories but maybe a simple gold necklace would suit? Idk.

I'm wearing a petti, pair of creamy/white textured tights and some pearly pink shoes.

I like the cut, generally. It's cute! I'd maybe get rid of the sleeves and wear it with a blouse or bolero instead.

The fabric, however, seems like a thin cotton poplin? Try to get a thicker, better quality fabric. You will find it drapes better and feels more luxurious.

As for colours, the combination is okay, but nothing amazing. Personally I feel the print is a little small and 'busy' for clothing .. it suits quilting or home furnishing, but not garments. Try to mix one solid and one pattern, or two solids and a pattern, but not a solid and two patterns.

The lace should be better quality. Look for some soft cotton lace. Also, the bodice would perhaps look cuter without the patterned panel.

That's just my personal crit. It's a great result for your first sewing project! Congrats. Keep it up, you'll make some wonderful things.

As for accessories, a cute blouse with a neckbow and perhaps a simple pendant necklace that hangs over the bodice. Try a matching headbow or hat with ribbons. Simple is best if you are unsure :)

There's some gold glitter accents on the petals of the chiffon overlay on the skirt so I wanted to bring out that with the accessories.

The blouse is a simple offwhite peter pan collar blouse. It's not a very big collar and won't really show much under the jsk/cardigan so I left it out of the collage.

Also the ribbon/pearl/rose brooch/clip thing isn't that dark irl, the one I have is almost the exact same color as the jsk.

There's nothing wrong with it, but if you wanted to change something I would switch out the bag for either a book bag or a plush black rabbit bag and maybe avoid a velvet headbow since the whole lot is just cotton fabrics and then suddenly random velvet bow.

If you wanted to go with gold boots, Pleaser makes some.

The lavender striped stockings look totally out of place with the dress. I say that because the onepiece has a very classic feel, but striped socks of that kind are usually in sweeter coords. Some ivory lace tights that match the main color of the dress would be much better.

Also, if you're bringing in a color that isn't really featured in the dress, it's important to make that color as well-distributed and visible as possible while still coordinating the original color scheme well. (Sorry I'm having a hard time articulating this!) It makes things look more balanced and less thrown together. Here's how I would do it:

-A lavender bolero or cardigan has less of a chance of looking awkward and would strengthen "presence" of the color in the coord. Too much of the blouse is covered by the dress to do that, imho. The open neckline would also lend a more classic feel to the outfit.
-A classic styled lavender bag
-Lavender shoes so you have something to match on the bottom half of your outfit. It would look more balanced that way.
-Floral accessories like the ring you've selected would really tie the outfit together since they have both lavender AND yellow. It also matches the motif of your print better. Since this is a more classic piece, keep the jewelry tasteful, delicate and don't overdo it. A choker, a pair of earrings and a single ring should be enough.

>> No.6498287

>>6461154
As it stands now, this coord seems REALLY thrown together. It has a lot going on and not in a good way. It's a good idea for an outfit though and I really love the shoes with the dress. Here's my advice:

-If the JSK were a solid color, lilac and mint wouldn't be so bad, but it's too busy for this coord. The blackxwhite color scheme and polka dot pattern are bold enough on their own, so I think it would be best to stick to just one extra color instead of two. Since it's featured strongly in your shoes, mint would probably be the best choice.
-I would stick to the blackxwhite color scheme in the "main" pieces of your outfit (blouse, cardigan, stockings, bag, etc.) and use minty accessories for a pop of color. Since there's a huge bow on your shoe, it would be cute if you could find bow jewelry with that same shade.
-Matching your mints is also really important because it will make everything come together better. Unless my monitor is whack, the mint in the hairclip and shoes seems to be more blue-toned while the mint in the rest of your outfit is more yellow-toned shade of green.
-The layering is also a bit awkward; especially the socks. This might be an unpopular opinion, but wearing socks like that seldom looks good to me. Rather than layer them, I would just stick to tights. A pair of sheer tights with black polka dots are easy to find and would carry the motif of your dress nicely. As for the tops, a black bolero and a white blouse layered under it would also look much better. A Peter Pan/tie collar would make the whiteness of the blouse more visible, but the high-neck is good, too.
