How can you make yourself look younger? - not as like a forty year old trying to look thirties, I mean as somebody in their early twenties wanting to look as young as possible. What styles should you wear, and what things can you do?

Thick bushy eyebrows typically denotes youth so if possible try growing those babies out.

Avoid harsh, dark makeup and begin learning a routine for softer, more natural makeup. Eyeshadows in pinks, white and soft browns are recommend.

Long, shiny hair is a sign of health and youth as it indicates you have access to good resources. IMO I would avoid unnaturally coloured dyes and opt for natural colours such as blonde, brown, red, black and even ash/grey.

Soft, light colored skin is another one. You don't have to go ghost-mode, but as you're aware the sun is very aging for you skin. I don't think I've ever seen anybody look younger because of tan.

Moisturize regularly, drink plenty of water and take your vitamin E.

Big lips is another thing that contributes to a youthful appearance, but unfortunately most of us aren't blessed in that area (myself included. Invest in a lip plumper that actually works so make sure to pick one with good reviews. I would avoid bright, vibrant coloured lipsticks and instead opt for softer colours. A sherbert lip tint + gloss looks amazing with pale skin.

Idk, I think fairy kei might be a bit overkill in my opinion, just because you dress like a kid doesn't mean that you will look like a kid.

OP, you should try styles like otome. It looks youthful and cute, but it also works on a bit older girls. And try to keep your makeup natural, too much makeup makes you look old.

Tans are still damaging and age the skin. Try avoiding the sun all the same, even if you don't darken easily. If you hardly get any sun at all, be sure to take vitamins. I've heard about black people in northern countries having health problems/depression due to low amounts of vitamin D. Staying out of the sun will make your skill look nicer, but be wary of the health effects.

You could just use a make-up trick to make them look a little bigger. Just get a lip liner that matches your lipstick or the color of your natural lips and you can reshape them to look a bit bigger. Just don't exaggerate and it should be fine. Add a little bit of lip gloss (not too glossy though) or something similar to "boost" the effect and there you go.

My nose is long and narrow but there's not much hope for me as it's only viewable from a profile. I think that curly hair does a good job at that. Hair that is perfectly straight implies that you used straighteners, and that doesn't exactly scream innocence.
You don't need to curl your hair, but rather than to achieve a couple of curls(especially around the bottom half of your hair) with rollers or just scrunching your wet hair after bath and using hair pins to put them in place and blow dry like that.

So you can spend time on your hair, as long as it doesn't LOOKS like you spent a lot of time on your hair. That's the concept behind a youthful appearance.

Shiny, healthy hair is a must have for looking youthful.

That being said, my hair is like straw. I see girls who dye/bleach their hair often and it still looks silky smooth. Besides straightening irons, what is their secret?

I'd like to know too please. I have naturally curly and incredibly frizzy hair. I don't wash it very often and the natural oils help, but even if I were to let it get crazy disgustingly oily it still looks so dry and frizzy.

I've tried doing an olive oil deep conditioning thing but that didn't seem to do anything at all. Any tips?

I'm not sure about curly hair as I have wavy hair myself, but my best friend has very curly hair, like 3c(she's mixed) and she wakes up every morning half an hour earlier than she should in order to individually condition and twirl her every curl around her finger with a coconut hair lotion that she buys at a hair store for black girls. Even during our lunchtime, after we finished eating and we just hang around, she will pop that bottle out of her bag and start twirling her hair with conditioner. It takes a long time. That being said, her hair looks awesome, and there isn't a single day that she doesn't gets compliments from random strangers regarding her bouquet of curls.
Pic related, I guess, it's just that my friend's curls are way tighter and slightly shorter.

I know I will like it when I'm older but, it gets a little annoying when people think I'm only 14 years old unless I put on a ton of make-up. I got a round face and have freckles My friend likes to mess with me and tell everyone I look 12. Though recently she has said I have upgraded to 13.

I don't think it's really that unreasonable. It's not wrong to say that /cgl/, and all of its hobbies and fashions, glorify and idolize youth. This is a thread about how people can make themselves look younger, and these girls are posting complaining about how their youth, something that the thread-starter and most other people ITT very much want, is not something they like, which is a lot like when badly-written mary sues complain that they're like sooooo pretty that its ttly a curse because everyone hates them :(. They're derailing at best. If they're ~so young looking~, why can't they prove it?
Don't post in weight-loss threads if you have a really high metabolism, don't post in skin-whitening threads if you're albino, don't post in haircare threads if you're Kate Middleton, and don't post in threads like this if you're 87 and you look 12.

It's really just showing perspective from the other side. "Everyone wants what they don't have and hate everything they have". So I wouldn't say derailing.

Besides posting a picture will derail and turn into a dramafest either way. No one would want to post their picture.

So I'm actually helpful to OP and anyone else who wants to look younger, I think some things that make me look so are: big eyes, long eyelashes, chubby cheeks, petite bone structure. Obviously some of those things you can't control at all, but try makeup to make your eyes bigger, lengthening mascara, and very rosy blush just on the apples of your cheeks.

- good skin
- good hair
- fit is always a bonus
- natural makeup
- wear soft colors

Also, personally I think people who are open to new things and ideas appear younger since older people are often more stubborn about their opinions. Well, in my perception at least.

>> No.6463547

When I get mistaken for being younger, it's usually because I'm wearing ruffly circle skirts, cute socks, or have some cutsey accessories. I also use bright colors in my makeup. (Not bright pink eyelids mind you, but maybe a little accent color above your eyeliner can look cute.)

I don't really like 'mature' fashion because I find it boring, so I don't wear things like pencil skirts or plain blouses except when I'm at work. I'm also short, so that probably adds to people's assumption that I'm young.

(I'm not old by any means. I'm 21, but I often get told that I look like I'm 15-16.)

tl;dr I think it's attitude and style that plays the biggest role when you are in your 20s wanting to look younger. Unless you've got terrible skin, a youthful style is enough.

>> No.6463556

My tips:
>wear light colors
>apply a rosy blush to your cheekbones area
>don't wear too much foundation. Even out your skintone with a tinted moisturiser or bb cream for a youthful glow.
>wear lipgloss instead of lipstick, or if you have to wear lipstick then go with a very natural nude color
>instead of a harsh liquid or gel eyeliner, use a pencil in a brown or dark plum and gently smudge out the line to create a more 'natural' way exentuate the eyes
>use a light eyeshadow with a slight shimmer to it, such as a white/cream or light pink. Stay away from blue eyeshadow and smokey eyes

Also, a tip for the OP, contouring your face so it looks smaller is also great. I usually put a shade a little darker than my own (so it's not dramatic) in the areas shown in the pic. (Sorry for the crap-tastic paint skills, too lazy to pull out my tablet at 4am) I edited a random pic off google.

Things I do: left my eyebrows their natural shape (from fucking thin and arched to a bit straight and more thick). They're also black so I bleach them to a light shade so they're not so sharp. I use minimal to no-make up, moisturized glowy skin is enough. Loose braids are your friends! Or really simple styles and cute accesories like little bows or lace-y headbands. I don't use nail polish at all, I guess soft colors are ok for that too. Oh, and frilly and lacey clothes! It's really more attitude than anything.

My face (as I recently found out) is not long and horse-like, but it's quite thin (as in, it's not wide at all) and small-looking.

If anyone has the same problem, I found that the blush just under your eyes instead of the apple of the cheek sort of like how Seto Ayumi wears it (but preferably less PINK PINK FLASHING PINK) and some highlighter on the inner part of the face helps quite a bit.
