I answer unknown numbers cause I share one phone with my mum so we usually borrow phones from random people to call if need be.

I think a lot of Swefags have some interesting stories to share regarding "sovsalar".
They are cheap and pratical, but damn, the last two years I am feeling that I am getting to old for this shit. At least my boyfriend bought a big inflatable matress, but next big con I might stay at a hotel. So damn practical with cosplay and all that.

This weekend I was really freaked out by this guy following me. I didn't speak to him once or make eye contact or whatever but he started following me around the con hall. I thought it was just coincidence for a bit but then he sat down a few spaces from where I sat down and got up at the same time too. It freaked me out a bit so I quickly walked towards the exit and that managed to lose him. I had no idea why he was did that.

Why are a lot of con photographers creepy? I know this one guy that goes to all the cons I go to, and on his laptop the background is a young girl in the black rock shooter miku bikini outfit thing. When he saw that I saw, he turned the laptop around and tried to change the subject. And then I was doing a photoshoot with him (I made sure to bring my friend with me) he was like "Are you okay doing...s-sexy poses?" I'm like "Sorry, I'm not comfortable with that.". He even mentioned a panty shot once. HAHno.

Finnfag here, a lot of our conventions use local schools' rooms as a shelter for attendees since hotels can be very pricey to the younger con-goers. I've always stayed at a hotel or a friend's place, so I don't have any stories to share, but my friends have told me stuff about creepy/annoying people sleeping there. Mostly it's just annoyment towards a group of 15-year old girls giggling and making noise during the night.

It's not a case of con photographers being creepy but creepy people being con photographers. The barrier for entry to being a photographer is very low since you just need to have money. You spend a thousand and two and BAM you look professional. Even just a few hundred will give you a bigger camera than most congoers have ever had their hands on. Naturally, with said big camera, people think you know what you're doing and give you the benefit of a doubt. After you interact with them, or see their work, that benefit is usually dispelled. The creepy use the camera as a tool to get that benefit of a doubt. Had they no camera you wouldn't have given them the time of day.

From what I see at the local cons, a majority of the homestuck fandom is under 18 so it doesn't come off as surprising to me when I hear all the shit they start.
I've had con security called on me 3 times for "underage drinking" even though I'm over 21.
2 out of the 3 times it has been a homestuck cosplayer who reported me. It's always annoying because I'm sitting at the con-bar when it happens.

Then I went to security and con staff since they were together, both of them tell me I'm basically just being a douche and to deal with it. Luckily her friends found her and they went off. At first I thought she was just pissed about a one night stand, so she was fucking with me, but she really is that crazy.

I had to change my phone number but I never gave it to her, so I'm guessing she got it off my phone while I was asleep. Never hooking up at a con rave ever again, I'll just go to the nearest bars.

I partially agree with this, but I'm going to add on to it.

I think demeanor and appearance play a role in the creepy photog thing as well. For example, I went up to a Yoko cosplayer and asked her to do some sexy poses because she could easily pull it off, she agreed. My friend who's not so attractive, even though I've been trying to help, goes up to that same Yoko cosplayer a few hours later, she was ok with it until he asked her to do mildly seductive poses. The difference? I'm attractive, he's not very attractive, when I approach I'm confident and have no ulterior motives, he's so shy he comes off as a creep when he's getting into his vibe.

It kind of works both ways though, because when I ask some guys to do some sexy poses they get all creeped out and think I'm gay, whereas they're all for it with my friend.

Yes, actually. It was. I drove up from Lawton for it. I don't live in the same state anymore, but it's definitely been an experience that stuck with me. I've learned since then that I should only cosplay for myself, casual cloths for a con aren't a complete no no, and never wear a LARP uniform outside of the designated panel. That, and most of the people here aren't crazy.

Now that I'm in a place with more of an anime community, it would probably be safe to get back into con going.

It's almost never normal people that say this. 90% of the time, it's someone ranging from "lol uncomfortable" to "definitely a serial killer." I had one guy I didn't even know was following me try to invite myself into the hotel room. I know I put up a lot of walls, but I think that would still be crossing a line for a lot of folks. Also knew a guy that was obsessed with Saber from Fate/Stay Night. Had four small plushies and one big one, and that was just in his car. Told my friend he had dozens more at home and kept trying to touch her costume and told her she should do the maid/lingerie/other less appropriate versions and he brought up the pictures on his phone to show her. This past AUSA I was drinking with some Ukraine and some friends, who were meeting up with other friends and just general nerd chilling. One of the girls friend was cosplaying Karkat, and an older gentleman comes over and asks for a picture. He says that his daughter loves Homestuck and Karkat is his favorite character.

I was pretty tipsy, and I'm a chatty friendly drunk so I said "Oh wow, you come to cons with your daughter that's awesome" And he goes on about how there' s no harm in it, and he wants to support his daughters interests. I eloquently describe that as "fucking cool". Everything seemed per the norm until he said "What if I told you you're hot". I sorta just stop brain-ing and he asks for a picture, so i just sit and smile. And he goes off.

a few minutes later he just...comes and sits down next to me mid conversation without saying anything. And he sits there, says nothing, just.... unnecessarily close. I was uncomfortable with it so I made Ukraine peace out with me back to the hotel room. We didn't see him again, but it was pretty awkward.

Sage for kind of a lame story compared to everyone else.

I agree with you anon. I think what some people are choosing to get from that is that he complimented them, but if you read it carefully he specifically sights things that are arousing about them and then mentions creepers instead of simply saying that they "look great" and leaving it it at that.
