Probably the most fun I'd had at Shadocon, just hope next year they get a bigger fucking venue because the hallways on the second floor were insane. The hotel itself was really pretty, though, just not the thing you want to host a convention this active at.

this was one of the best cons I've been to. It also had the most amount of cosplayers to any other con I've been to other than mega.

I really like the gaming room too. Unfortunately, I was planning to go as Rintaro Okabe but that fell apart at the last minute.

Also there were these adorable Haruhi cosplayers who were pretty damn authentic in terms of how similar they looked ot the characters.

I went the whole weekend but I only cosplayed on Saturday as Katniss Everdeen (the training center version).
Duuude, thia venue sucked. The hallways were waaay too crowded, and I apologize to anyone I accidentally hit in the face with my arrows. Was anyone outside by the water fountain when we all danced Gangnam Style?
And what was up with the raves, cause they didn't even last an hour, so I didn't even bother attending them since it was pushed to like, 2 am.
Overall the con was boring. I've never been so bored there before. I only liked staying there since I saw my friends that I never get to see since they live there and I live 4-5 hours away from the con. The first year was better than this.

They're as idiotic and disrespectful as the idiots making a scene at cons. They can't accept the fact that there are other cultures out there, and cultures within those cultures as well. It's best to ignore them, but to be honest, if I were there, I would have told her it is a private event in a private hotel in a country were we are constitutionally guaranteed freedom of expression. Dude didn't break his arm, he injured his shoulder during the Shado Warrior competition and then had to go on to participate in the BDBD (Breakdancing Kakashi, or the Shadow Clone Kakashi in the show).

He didn't dislocate his shoulder, but may as well have with the type of injury it was. They needed to wait/deal with the paramedics after they arrived to have a look at him, make sure what was going on with his shoulder, etc. Shado Warrior started out a little late anyway, but dealing with the injury took more time as well, so the amount of time everything was running behind compounded.

Eyeshine was pretty dang cool in person. I preferred the more mellowy Goo Goo Dolls-esque stuff they were doing at the Q&A panels they had to the harder rock at their concert, but it's really something to hear one of your favorite VAs actually singing.

There's no way that the Hyatt is going to have Shado back after all of the complaints from the hotel guests. Not to mention that someone shit in the stairwell twice, the police were called a number of times, and I can't see any of the vendors wanting to return to that venue after how poorly the hotel treated them.

Cosplays were, for the most part, pretty damn good, I thought. I'm no regular seagull and I tend to rush my own costumes from a bad mixture of procrastination and laziness but I was impressed. There were no memorably bad ones my group saw (we still joke about 'Paper Plate Amon' from Metrocon).

My friend and I'd outfits, just for the hell of it. She was Madoka, I was Naoto. Yes, I'm aware my hat's not blue (we all agreed that just going with the black of the hat I had would look better than trying to cover it in blue fabric) and has visible stitching.

Mecha chocobo was hilarious but kinda long. I was getting bored towards the end. Still stayed for the whole panel, but would have prefered it was maybe only an hour. Saturday Night was a clusterfuck, the TPD shutting down everything really exacerbated things. You had everyone from the rave trying to go up elevators, and the noise problem just got worse.

Wow I'm so fucking happy someone is finally calling her out on this. I'm really curious to know who this person is oh god. I used to cosplay with her and I stopped for multiple reasons, some of them being financial and personal but most of them being I hated who she was becoming with her obsession over the spotlight and the awards (and never fully getting the credit I fucking deserved). All she cares about are the contests and getting pictures and praise. Not to mention the bragging about awards from -like you said before- small cons with almost no competition and she pretty much forced me to enter the same costume in multiple times.

I KNOW for a fact that her mother makes most of them because I've been there watching her make them. And when I was cosplaying with her I worked on a good amount of them my own, yet when anyone asked her she said she made them all 100% herself, INCLUDING styling the wigs which was always my area. I stopped putting up with her taking the undeserved credit from both me and her mother and now I guess she hates me haha I don't even care if someone she knows shows this to her or if they figure out who I am, it's not really hard if you actually know me or her.

Yeah it is, we've actually discussed this together. When we didn't win anything after entering at Jacon once and then Metrocon twice she started to say the people who won best in show or best craftsmanship or group didn't deserve it and would pick apart their costumes talking down about them from far away. And she would talk to me about what we should do, what I think the judges look for to name winners. She thinks that the personal touch and adding details and embellishments will help her win, that's why she uses cheap brocades in her Sakura costume where they don't belong and cheap gems from costume jewelry to make it sparkle.

Also she likes to say that she made everything herself not just in the case of her mother's work; her petticoat for her Beatrice from Umineko costume was bought on ebay yet on her cosplay.com account she says she made it herself. Along with using tacky glue for that entire pattern on the dress while claiming it was 'hand-sewn embroidering'.

I apologize for not being able to give any names or specific costumes but I can tell you which years we were in contests. The first one I was in with her was Jacon 2008 as Riku and Risa from DNAngel and won a judge's award. Then Metrocon 2010 as the RowdyRuff Boyz from PowerPuff Girls Z didn't win anything and she bitched about the best group winners and lots of costumes we saw backstage. Metrocon 2011 we entered our Chobits costume and won nothing and she had a fucking conniption, the people who won best group, best in show, or anything in our category were all apparently undeserving. That was a great convention ruined by her demanding I never leave her side so fans could get the costumes, I missed so many events I'm still pissed. And the last time I cosplayed with her was Holiday Matsuri 2011 we entered the Holiday Costume Contest with the Holiday Chobits group with my two friends as Tsumomo and Kotoko. We won Best Group for that and then she wanted to enter the costumes from Metro in the normal costume contest that weekend to try to get an award out of it. We won Best Craftsmanship but not Best in Show so god fucking forbid the two amazing cosplayers who won that only got it because they made costumes with full body armor
