She goes by the Kaikida. She is Russian. She worked with a group of people including a fellow Russian cosplayer called Mr Gnob to make the Esther costume. Mr Gnob did post close up photos of the costume on one of her devaintart journals. The details are incrediable. I would love to make something that is just as detailed.

I think all of us Trinity Blood cosplayers have a degree of insanity in order to cope with the detail vomit. Sadly, the fandom does attract the odd really crazy person too.

I agree, the coronation gown has been so over done now. These days when ever I see someone announce that they are making one I just groan. Especially as half the time they don't even like Esther as a character.

I would love to see more rarer characters. There is still plenty of challenging costumes in the series.

I think people pass up Tres in favor of more spangly characters, honestly. It's not cool. Outside of the core group of AX cosplayers I know (and a couple people that do Rosenkreuz stuff) I have yet to meet a Trinity Blood cosplayer that sought out the source material (the novels) after watching the anime.

I had people ask me why I put so much work into the artbook version of a side character that had like three lines and two minutes of screentime in the anime when I cosplayed Vaclav. If I'd had a full range of motion at the time I would have slapped a bitch.

And if you get them by the gross they're cheap too! There's roughly 250 in my Vaclav cosplay, maybe more, and I got them for like 7.50/gross from grommetworld.com

Putting them in was hell but it looks way good when you're done.

Come to think of it, Trinity Blood costumes don't tend to be "difficult" as in requiring highly specialized skills - at least no more so than your average fancy tier cosplay - but in the TIME commitment. Couching miles of threaded beads isn't hard, it just takes for-fucking-ever.

Although, I work in historical costuming at a reenactment village. Queen Esther is a pretty common style of Elizabethan court gown. The wow factor is all in the amount of detail, which is easy, but time consuming. Or devouring.

There's two different series of the novels- Rage Against the Moons and Reborn on the Mars. There's no difference which ones you read, though I think the anime borrowed more from Reborn on the Mars than Rage Against the Moons. ROM has the witch girl that Tres and Abel save, the Neverland arc (I think), and Silent Noise in all its parts (Barcelona, Venice, the Scipizoa or whatever in St. Peter's Square, the Obelisk- shit like that). RAM has stuff that was passed up for the anime, like Vaclav and a lot of Neue Vatican stuff.

I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say too much more.

A friend of mine did the Blue habit Esther and she was recognised. I think it really depends where your based and how much coverage Trinity Blood has in your country. We're European based and there is quite a sizeable fan base for it. More so than in the US.
