You have to at least try. You don't have to wear it out the house or anything, but at least make something simple like a pair of pajama pants. I'm awful at sewing myself, and after a disastrous run-in while trying to make Umbreon ears, I've been afraid of sewing for awhile, but I'm going to start to try again. You'll never develop skills without practice.

Buy a bunch of the cheapest, shittiest fabric you can find and use that for sewing practice. Once you've made a few practice "costumes" and get a litte better with each one then you can try for the real deal.

It doesn't really matter, to be honest. Depending on what direction you take with it, pretty much anyone can make something work.

At any rate, I don't mean to say I'm ideal, but just as an example, I'm 5'8" and 125 and (from what I hear) I do it fairly well, body type-wise. (not quite so much the face, but ah well. I don't know the first thing about makeup so it can't really be helped.)

I didn't think I could do it at first, but now touhou crossplay is kinda my staple haha... I've covered Marisa, Yuyuko (normal and Koumajou), Reimu (Koumajou), Meiling, Nitori... more to come! All you need to do is to put in proportional effort to get back good results. If you work for it, you can do it! Good luck yo!

Don't worry, OP. My boyfriend is a "brohou" He doesn't even try to vaguely look female. Someone will like it and take a picture of you. If you go to a large con then there will be lots of "brohous" there.

Not to be offensive, but to OP at least try your best to pass for the first time before you decide to give up on passing. Makeup and abit of padding in the right places can do wonders. Youtube is a great place to look for tutorials to learn how and where to pad, as well as makeup tips

Padding the hip area and bust area. Before any of you guys rage and go "oh my toehoes are all flat" A guy's flat chest and a girl's flat chest are distinctly different, so you WILL need to boob abit, it's all about creating an illusion. I'd rather look abit more plump than have manly physique show up under the costume lol but that's just me...

Basically, i used a pannier (poofy underskirt thing) to create illusion of hips, then padded out a bra for the chest area. my arms are pretty big so i tend to stick to characters that have long sleeves. The only character which i have done and it turned out okay to have somewhat larger arms was meiling, cause well, ya know, kung fu and muscles

And just for the sake of illustration, arms without sleeves. It comes down to stacking alot of small details up so that it adds up to an overall passable image yeah? (if that makes sense)
