The jacket doesn't make any sense unless he's being some kind of track-star Jake or something. If he is doing that, it's stupid and he shouldn't do it.

If he doesn't already own khaki shorts, make sure he gets them. They don't need to be bootyshorts since Jake doesn't actually wear those, but if they're a bit long he might want to tailor them so they're a bit shorter.

When some cosplayers are posted/bitched about in these threads I always take it with a grain of salt, but Heaven is one of the only people I've seen posted here who really does act the way she's described. She's really fame-hungry and is constantly kissing ass in a desperate bid to become a famous Homestuck cosplayer.

I lost every bit of respect I once had for her the night she thought it'd be a good idea to make gifs of herself crying and post them on tumblr for pity. Gifs? Are you fucking serious, Heaven? You couldn't have been that upset if you went to all that effort for the sake of attention whoring.

Anyways, you could do several things if you arent skilled at making hats by scratch. Get a tophat or something with a similar top, cut off the default rim and then add the triangular rim yourself.

then do something red to them and youre set. Im sure theres someway to do that and have it look nice.

i dont dig the whole crop top thing, but to each their own. the wig looks really good, but the horns kind of sag at the end. you might also want to file down the pink things on the bracelets. also, she doesnt wear thin gold bangles or a gold necklace.

From what I've seen, a lot is for the sake of the OTP. Honestly I don't know why troll cosplayers do proposals because there's no concept of human marriage in Alternia (Tavros heard about it but that's about it), but I think it's cute when it's JUST for cosplay purposes and not for real. I kind of want to make Rose's Velvet dress, but I need some opinions.

I was looking at sewingstuck (MF's homestuck cosplay help blog) and saw she had once answered an ask about said dress.
She said a cotton jersey blend or velvet could work for her top, but I kind of want a second opinion on what would look better, especially since I would like to get it fitted so. I just kind of want to make it look realistic.

Also, would it be alright if I used kind of a khaki blonde wig instead of super light blonde or white? I have a medium skin tone so I don't think those colors would look best on me.

I like velvet, personally. If you decide to go with something gold and sparkly for the headband/belt/straps, I think velvet and some sort of soft satin/something with a sheen for the top looks good put together. A cotton blend would be fine too as long as the rest of the outfit is of a similar texture/look, including the straps. I feel like gold straps would clash with plainer fabric.

It's definitely smarter to go for a more flattering wig color than pure accuracy, so I'd go with the khaki if it looks better on you!

But it's a special kind of very watery foundation, and it's not available in grey, only skin tones.

For me, at the end of the day at least they're putting the effort forward to do GT. It's a step up from the broken shirt outfit, one that involves sewing.

A lot of cosplayers don't have the money to remake a cosplay, so if they only have x amount of red fabric and aren't confident in their sewing abilities, they're going to stay in their comfort zone and skip the connected part.

Not to say their aren't people who are just lazy, though.

You might want to consider PAX instead; I have a tattoo and I found PAX to cover far better. But if you use a sponge to apply the ben nye thicker over the tattoo you should be pretty good. I've always mixed my own PAX. I prefer to use Ben Nye on my face (I like the feel better), so I put some on my skin as a sample, and mix 50/50 prosaide and acrylic paint roughly, trying to get a shade that dries to the same as the ben nye. You can honestly mix any color you want.
