where can i find a decent gauntlet template?
i'm not going to make it out of metal, that's slightly too much work, i'll probably just get decent cardboard to trace the template onto and then paint the cardboard directly.

the trouble is finding a template, the one in this video USED to be free

i don't even need the articulated finger elements, to be honest, it's mostly the wrist and lower arm parts

You caught me lurking for the first time in months, AND I'm a Dark Souls fanatic that'll be working on his own Black Knight cosplay soon enough. Lucky you, anon.

So here's what's up. That's actually going to be two pieces. You need a Demi Gauntlet and a vambrace. A vambrace will run along your entire arm and stop at the wrist, and the demi gauntlet, which is a gauntlet without finger protection, used by warriors for mobility of fingers so you can have more precise sword work.

For the demi gauntlet, I recommend this one. What you're going to want to do is extend the wrist guard area, because it looks like it's all one piece. Not sure why, but take it as you will.

I'd use these for the arms, just straighten out the arm flange and you'll be good. It's CLOSE, but not perfect. I'm not sure where that piece comes from, since most armor pieces like that have a flange that covers the articulation so that joints don't get sniped. However, small details shouldn't matter, as the piece is pretty solid.

any tips on how to shape the helmet?
i'm dead set on making it as game accurate as possible, so i'm going to have to do it mostly custom (no templates), which is fine, i can just roughly shape some cardboard and refine the shape from there.

but what can i use as a pretend-head? i'm trying to find a mannequin head at my college's theatre department but they don't seem keen on just lending them out

Need some info first. What do you plan on making the helmet out of? I haven't any experience with doing the cardboard style, but you might want to consider looking into how to work with Sintra, which is actually pretty simple.

i was looking at sintra, yes, but i'll need to develop a template first before i start slicing up sintra (even though it's pretty cheap in my town, you can get a 2 foot by 3 foot sheet for 11 bucks)

I just threw down a template, though. A Close Helm is what you need for the Elite Knight Armor (and regular knight armor) and the fluting aspect can be done easily with Sintra.

hrmm, you have a point. most of the helm seems identical, and the faceguard is basically just a boat shape anyway.
the forehead piece is simple too...

i'll have to make a cardboard "basic" version of the template you gave and see if it works well enough to pursue

Definitely. The face plate is odd and elongates the front for some reason. Definitely make a template, it makes working with ANYTHING easier.

also cardboard for the first draft version of the helmet, assuming i can get it to work that is. cardboard isn't particularly malleable for dome shapes
