I usually make a joke here about bronies or whatever pained me. It's generally all in good fun... generally... but something really bothered me about this brony topic on some fundamental level. Maybe it's because I dug into the material a bit too much rather than remaining detached and tossing out predictable jokes to videos other people had found. I suppose it doesn't help that I have young family members that watch My Little Pony as it was intended, but it actually made me physically uncomfortable and borderline ill to hear brony after brony after brony talking about "sweet pony ass" and how much they want to fuck Pinkie Pie and how much they love to "clop" to the "plot" and rape joke after rape joke after rape joke and scootabuse and... god dammit, fuck this shit. Whatever. Fuck this world. I'm going to go do something more life affirming than watch grown men fap to animated horses; like maybe OD on heroin or something.

I try to separate myself from those kinds of people. I grew up on MLP in the 80's and early 90's. While I love the current show, it feels horribly wrong to ship, much less talk about pony porn or even imagine that such a thing even exists. I still see ponies as pastel candy colored childhood innocence that just happens to go beyond nostalgia and appeal to my adult geekery.

Maybe if I turn a blind eye to it, it'll go away.

Honestly I have some expectations of the show but I never go so far in the fandom as to ship or make dumb OCs. Like, I expect Rarity and Spike to have interests with each other, but I don't expect the producers to make them canon at least not for awhile. And the thought of MLP porn just makes me feel like a weirdo.
Shit like that pushes the boundaries for me because I'm so used to shows for kids being kosher.

When they did that Adventure Time episode where Lady Rainicorn confesses she was pregnant to Jake that really shocked and irritated me. Personally I think it's a crappy message to send to kids and young teens that just because you're in a relationship with someone you'll get impregnated and start families. Not to mention she was my favorite character, and now I really don't know where they're going to go with that...

I think the problem with the appeal of MLP to male fans is that it's basically "westernized moe", so it appeals to the same types that anime "moe" appeals to. Either girls who love cute things or guys who want to stick their penis in cute things. It's already been pointed out, but MLP the show and MLP fans and the way they behave aren't linked, though.

While the characters are cute and adorable, the closest thing they have to moe is Fluttershy, who is secretly insanely assertive or something like that.

At least, that's how typical moe is understood. I've been told that moe refers to "buring for" or "passion for" something. You can technically get moe feelings out of anything, for that reason, but most people just associate it with the typical kawaii uguu~ animu lolis who inspire a sense of pity and a desire to protect or coddle from their audience.

None the less, Ponies don't really do that, and as such, Brony behavior is an entirely different issue from and entirely different source all together.

The 'bad' fans are the ones who make up 99% of the attendees at Brony Con and meet ups.
