Hi fellow European!
I find a lot of moriable items in normal highstreet shops like H&M. Most people recommend looking in thrift stores but the ones in my area are horribly overpriced. I really, really like Scandinavian clothing shops, often the sell several brands like NoaNoa, Nü, Cream, Kaffe etc. These all carry moriable itemy and the whole style is very mori but it's hella expensive. Good quality though, definitely worth a look when they have a sale.

I love mori boy, but all outfits I can find are either on waif-like japanese boys that just look like girls, or aren't really mori-looking at all, IMO. I'm a slightly stockier build and would love to wear it. An idea might be to look at cultural clothing styles that are similar for ideas? I can imagine maybe mixing in a tartan to get a Scottish-highland-mori type style, but actually putting together clothing designs that look good is not my strength.

I think the problem with male mori is the lack of pieces. It's more difficult to get layers since boys only wear pants
There are only so many shirts you can wear. I was thinking like a pair of pants from my pic with combat boots. Maybe some quirky socks poking out from the top
I can't think of what to do with upper body though

I happen to like how tall ladies look in long skirts, and honestly I think if you look like you're wearing a tent it's because you failed to layer correctly- Wear a vest, layer a couple of skinny leather belts on top, wear a shirt with your skirt that clearly breaks up the length a bit or brings in the silhouette slightly at the shoulders or waist.

I'll dump some non-maxi mori anyway.

Honestly, up until the third one, she does. Her clothes cling to her body too much in the first one to look mori, and in the second one she looks too gypsy. The third one looks nice, though, and I'm not even gonna pretend like I'm not envious of her waist, just not in this context.

Blush applied to the apples of the cheeks and under the eyes. No brown blushes that make you look tanned, it's generally better to look pale.
Earthy eyeshadows, little-no eyeliner, applied all around the eye. Mostly greens, browns, dark blues and maroons. Natural lip colour... occasionally concealer covered lips.

Omg I love this French brand. I forgot the name but I stumbled on their shop blog a few years ago. I think some of their stuff and other shops like it cost as much as lolita jsk. My local shabby chic boutique has a similar style to some of this stuff too. Saw a really cute loose fitting cardi embellished with lace and some floral fabric scraps but it was $300 ......

I didn't want to sound like I knew what I'm doing already it's more that a lot of western girls seem to piece things together in an odd way that doesn't look as harmonic as those of Japanese mori girls. I can't quite tell what it is, maybe I've just been lurking in the wrong communities. I look at self-posted pics, street snaps, magazine editorials...

I'm sorry you don't get what I mean but I just wanted to ask if there are loose guidelines or some tutorials for a mori outfit. I've tried before but was always wondering if it even looks harmonic. I guess I'll just try.

I have seen a number of poorly dressed tiny kawaii Asians. I think a lot of it comes down to selection bias. Street snaps usually look good because the photographers are looking for the best or at least the most unique. Catalogue shots need to look good if you want to sell the clothes.

I personally look through blogs on amebo, yablog, etc and I have seen a fair share of crap. Sure the girl may be cute but that doesnt change the fact that she looks like a mess. I don't save those pictures and I soon forget about them. When I find someone who dresses well I check out their friends and find more girls who dress well. And then sometimes I add those to my tumblr and maybe someone looking through my tumblr then thinks all asian girls look great.

The really poorly dressed asiangirls are pretty rare though. I feel like many asian girls are less willing to post pictures online unless they feel they look perfect. Pretty different from the "lol i didnt feel like doing my makeup or hair" attitude of some western girls. (some, not all. Thankfully)

The western girls who dress badly also seem more in your face. You can't go on a place like tumblr, for example, without someone shitting up the tags.

But I do think there is something to be said for the body type. It's always harder to dress a larger body. Mori is no exception.
