Who’s going? Cosplaying or just attending normally?

>> No.10834706

I am going for a couple of a days. One day in plain clothes and one in cosplay

Yes! I'm going for one day on Sunday. I'm actually more into anime than comics, but I'm accompanying my boyfriend. Honestly, it's a nice change of pace from the only other con I go to which is AX. It's a nice slower pace that allows us to explore much more. There also tends to be a few stray anime booths so I find something to buy too.

Nice what are you cosplaying?

Also does anyone know when they typically post the schedule? It’s less than 2 months away and the only schedule they have up is from last years…

Go for it! It was my first con ever and I liked it. It’s always fun to dress up to them too so I definitely recommend cosplaying to it if you want to.

Going two days, Friday/Saturday. Friday I'm going in casual "Mike Stolkasa" RLM shirt. Saturday is Ghostbuster day.

Wondercon is Comic Con's sister convention. But much less intense, and smaller scale. Usually it's a good cosplay convention, and the occasional interesting panels. The concierge room that opens later in the night is really nice too.

Kind of a normie con, but it's comfy since it's Anaheim Convention Center. Plenty of food options around, even within walking distance.

ntayrt, but I'm happy to hear that. This is my first time attending on Sunday and I was hoping it'd be comfy but still lively enough to make the trip worth it.

I'm nervous about tackling AA though. It looks huge!

nta, but Downtown Disney is right next door and has some breddy gud drinks and food. Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in particular is pretty yummy if you like that kind of food.

Mr Pho is pretty good and open till like 11pm.
https://www.yelp.com/biz/mr-pho-anaheim-3

There's a local Itallian Ice place that's great to try at least once:
https://www.yelp.com/biz/joes-italian-ice-anaheim-anaheim

You also have your regulars like Red Robin/Outback, ect all very closeby. (a few blocks).

One of my favorite Italian Restaurants is closeby (not the best, but comfy)
https://www.yelp.com/biz/carolinas-italian-restaurant-garden-grove-3?osq=itallian+food

I'm sure Wondercon will have food trucks also, but those won't be there later in the evening. I live like down the street essentially from ACC. Your food choices will depend on how far you're willing to travel/transportation really. Anything in particular you're looking for? (there's also basic fast food, and a food strip mall pretty much across the street on katella)

I just came home from con. Is it me or there wasn't that many people again this year compared to pre-Covid years? Considering Saturday is the day that everyone generally shows up.

It didn't even sell out this year. Badges were still available as opposed to selling out a 2-3 weeks in advance. Programming also wasn't very good either.

>> No.10845837

How did they let all the crazy Jesus freaks get all the way up to the gate past the food trucks? Isn't the food truck area part already ACC property and they are basically trespassing? I know they show up to other cons but they generally do their shit on public areas. Luckily they were gone after a few hours.

It was so lax that parents were walking around carts and strollers with their kids and Saturday is the day it really feels like SDCC with shoulder-to-shoulder traffic.

Saturday had an ocean of people, it felt like SDCC in some areas. Everyone somehow loves the artist alley and the fountain area

-After attending Friday and Saturday, i’ll share my thoughts. Not many Kimetsu no Yaiba cosplayers appeared (thank god)
-Artist alley is full of people peddling keychains, charms and pins. Holeeeee
-There are like only two companies who bothered installing something (Funko and Bandai Namco)
>Almost nobody but 1% is masking anymore looooool

7/10 con experience for me. Everyone must be reserving their stiff for the much crowded (ugh) San Diego

>> No.10845853

There were years that con sold out about 2 weeks before. I think 2017 and 2018 were for sure since I remember some people I know got asshurt for waiting at the last minute to buy only to see it sold out.

>> No.10845854

>>10845845
They were up against the gate where they check tickets and got stopped by security. Also a few Anaheim PD were there surrounding them with hired security in case shit got out of hand. I'm surprised they left after a few hours since they generally stand aroubd all day. Maybe the cops just told them nicely to leave.

>> No.10845855

Since these crazies apparently have a lot of time and money, they should buy tickets to AX and go around record parading their bullshit until LA Convention Center and AX staff kick them out. It would make for some entertaining content.

We have learned our lesson about what happens when you "don't" gatekeep properly. Besides, keeping the normies confined to the big tent conventions is fine, and happier times for everyone.

>> No.10845963

>>10845855
>Since these crazies

That's the thing, they're not actually crazies (not the higher ups, anyways) Their org purposefully goes to events in the hopes someone starts something or gets violent, and they can sue.

>>10845854

I asked con staff and security what we could do about them. They said only thing to do was file a complaint to the police non emergency line (and I did!). Apparently a lot of other people decided to do that as well, combined with a harassment, disturbance of the peace, and noise complains. Police finally did something and asked them to gtfo elsewhere due to the amount of complaints. So the system somewhat works, so long as bombard the cops with complaints.

Aww how cute. He thinks the normies don't exist in every smaller cons as well. He thinks smaller cons automatically means more hardcore attendees
