Does anyone think cosplay being pushed into the normiesphere is ruining the aspect of the community? The point of it is to do it in areas where it makes sense: conventions and parties. And at ren fests. However, we have this growing culture where they are forcing it into more normie areas. not only is this a awkward, but it's only making an embarrassment out of the hobby to begin with. We do this to have fun, but we have people who do cringe stuff like walking around normally in it like it's fashion. Or worse, doing photoshoots and poses in the middle of malls and such.

Agreed. I had been cosplaying since the late 90s and the only change I saw between 1997 - 2002 was that people were becoming more ME FIRST before the show/game had come out.
There was sexy cosplay but it has stayed consistent in number and the people who did it also did other things.

Then came ass and tits. People who would be considered just pretty figured out they could be gorgeous at a con. Fuck actually having skills, that was now secondary. Pay for someone to make your cosplay, conveniently "forget" to mention it was commissioned on most of your social media, enjoy popularity.

Move on to asking your fans who like your tits to pay for your cosplay.

There's nothing wrong with having a cheap costume if you can't afford/aren't skilled enough yet to have a better one. But there needs to be some passion and effort involved in making the outfit and that's what a lot of normies don't understand.

I think the term: "Cosplay" is inherently embarrassing, it sounds very childish and somewhat sexual, but now it's even more embarrassing to say. Because normies are starting to associate it more with E-Girls who buy cheap Halloween costumes and bikinis to shake their asses in, rather than people who actually design costumes.
