Since we're here, might as well ask. For doing lolita with curly hair do you all prefer getting a wig, wearing it out and natural, or putting in braids? I've put thin braids in my hair and then styled my hair in similar styles in those shared around magazines it's a coin toss in terms of success. Usually, putting them in styles that require buns and ones where the majority of hair is held back by a ribbon or headdress work really well. More intricate hairstyles don't work well because it looks sort of messy in a way? It's hard to explain. Basically simple is better when working with braids in my opinion. Another favorite of mine is curling my hair with hair smaller sized curlers and curling cream and then using a bonnet, it looks surprisingly cute and is definitely less tasking in terms of styling and prep though I think it works best if your hair is short in a way. Bonnets are definitely a favorite if you plan to have your hair out. It's not recommended and I've stopped doing this but I used to add a small bit of relaxer to let my hair down a little bit, it definitely helped with making the aforementioned style better but I'm too wary of using that stuff.

I have very long sisterlocks so they just kind of function like hair strands since they're thin. I do longer wavy/curly styles by making heatless curls and then doing pigtails or whatever else. I don't have straight bangs but shorter face framing pieces in the front that I curl to look like bangs.

I don't post pics of my coords online and am a lonelita but in my daily life I get compliments on my basic JP magazine esque hairstyles even out of lolita.

Nope, just rollers. I just wet them with a spray bottle and then use smaller barrel rollers until they dry. The curl holds for days. I only have to wash once a week instead of multiple times since I don't have to use products anymore.

For maintenance, they aren't cheap to establish depending on where you live, and they're kind of trending these days so I got mine established for like $500 but it would be $1-2k these days. If you use a trainee you can get it cheaper and micro interlocks that aren't sisterlocks branded can be cheaper too. It's a couple hundred bucks every 8 weeks for my retightenings because I have 4C hair so it shrinks up enough that the growth isn't super apparent. I love it far more than struggling with my loose natural 4C hair under wigs in lolita and just everyday because I don't have to style it when I'm not in lolita.

Oh, that sounds very good! I wonder if you can get the same affect with non-braided hair? I've been thinking about taking the front part of my hair, using curlers and water to curl it forward into a bangs but I think it might just puff up and look weird. I would like to try a hair iron or hair curler but I'm afraid of damaging my already less than full amount of hair. My hair looks like it's very short when it's curly.

I kind of figured they might be expensive, but Jesus I felt my wallet yelp at the sight. Though I suppose having them upkept for a couple hundred every two months isn't half bad. Not really. Especially with sweet lolita it makes sense as the pastels contrast with the dark skin which can look really pretty. Its not even a case of trying to be "woke", one of my biggest sweet lolita inspirations is black and her coords are cohesive and suit her really well. Pairing items to work with your skin type is a good idea even if youre white, but it isnt 100% necessary. If the outfit is good and not some tacky taobao shit then I dont really see it as bizzare. Do you think only japanese girls should wear lolita? Or just not black girls? Some of you need to go outside...
