The proportions and placement are all the same. I agree with above anons saying it's a redesign more so than a rerelease, but saying it looks nothing like the original is such a reach. You can tell the patterning is the same. The only real difference is the tulle to lace change, and the 60/40 poly-cotton blend.

I like the original more because I'm partial to the heart tulle, but for $300 the redesign makes me happy enough. The alternative is buying a tattered, altered, or faded dress secondhand at this point.

It's kind of odd that AP went with two different pink colorways. The original 2014 release just had one pink colorway, which was actually a mix of two pinks (one lighter than the other. I have the original 2014 OP and it's definitely a lighter pink and not white). So, these colorways are actually "new."

I wound up going with the white/pink because I like the contrast and it's more versatile. Since I have the OP already in pink, I wasn't too interested in the solid pink one, but I wonder what the most popular colorway will be. I actually wish they included ivory in the MTO.

It'll probably be around the same price as long as the reservation doesn't hit cap. I would advise you to get it now as an MTO instead of playing roulette with the secondhand market though.

There's always a chance the MTO won't be offered with the Paris or US stores too, which will make it "rarer." It's also ~60,000 yen, so a lot of people are going to complain about not having enough money to buy it with little notice/only a 3-day reservation period. (People complain about not being able to afford a 30,000 yen dress, so I'm assuming this will be the same). So basically, it won't be like Sugary Carnival where a bunch popped up secondhand immediately. At least, that's my prediction.

Mine came today. Overall the fabric doesn't feel like their older cotton. It's actually very thin. You can see the weave if you look super close. The cotton on my miracle candy, wonder cookie and rose afternoon are all softer, thicker and more breathable.

The colors seems very close to the sample photos but i think they do change their saturation. Their sax is a bit more vivid in photos. It didn't matter if I used daylight, cool white or a more warm yellow I couldn't get the hue that was in most of the photos. I put it against the orange fabric to get a clearer shot of the lace. My camera didn't want to focus.

If the sax is less vivid, I'm actually happy about that. I'm a little scared about the fabric though. I think the thinnest cotton I've felt is Pop Check. The gingham fabric is so thin, it feels like a dollar store table cloth. Wonder Cookie always felt pretty sturdy to me, so I just hope it's somewhere in between.

AYRT to give you a closer indication of fabric. I also own Bodyline L438. It feels thinner than that and has a similar weave pattern. I think the fabric is closer to that dress in terms of texture and visual appearance. It's not a bad dress but if you were looking for it to be close to the original, it's not. Lace market is ok, depending on how popular what you want is/was and how much you’re willing to pay. Japanese second hand sites are usually cheaper but require a shopping service and with shipping it may end up being the same price (if you’re only getting one thing vs. multiple items shipped together). I think most people just look everywhere and buy what they want when they see it for a price they’re willing to pay; that’s what I do at least. I haven’t paid above retail for years although I don’t really buy anything that’s popular or sought after.

Day Dream Carnival honestly shows up a lot secondhand. Quite a few have been on Wunderwelt recently.

But as other anons have said, buying AP is just a waiting game. The best wardrobes aren't really built with money, but with time. There is no fast track, and I think a lot of people new to buying brand don't really understand that.

Also be aware in general that people won't share many tips, other than the obvious. The market is oversaturated with buyers now, and getting a good item sometimes means protecting resources and keeping secrets.

I didn't have those feelings but I had to tighten the shirring to more than half. Even with the neckties done, the neckline has an awkward shape. The bodice is huge in comparison to older stuff. The skirt seemed comparable to older skirts. It's longer than my sweet ribbon strawberry op. I don't think anyone but other lolitas will be critical of the fit. For ref bust 86 cm, waist 68cm and height 167cm. I would suggest people look for the original over this one but I don't hate the dress.
