How old is too old to go to an anime convention?
I just turned 29 and finally have enough money to go to one.

Whatever follows that is irrelevant because the answer is always the same: When you're dead. Simple as that. Twenty nine is admittedly a little old to start...at first glance. Show up to a decent sized event (I'm assuming you want AX?) and you will quickly find literal grandmas and grandpas alike starting out at over 60. Grandmas and grandpas who did NOT come to be there with their children or grandchildren.

>> No.10758723

Most people I know usually move into more of a staffing position as they get older, rather than just attending - but that's more due to interests and where their peers are more than anything else. (PROTIP: it ain't the 18 year olds running most of the cons.)

If anything you can go to con's you want to go to. Instead of being stuck going to a crappy con that is close by you can travel to one that you really want to go to.

Besides I've seen people who are over 60 at con's just to be there.

Closer to about 40 years. Early 80's is when the first anime-specific cons (rather than sci-fi cons with anime tracks) began appearing.

When I started attending cons 20 years ago, the majority of attendees were over the age of 18, with a lot of people in their 30's and 40's.

I'm 40 now, and I don't have any issue meeting new people at cons in my age bracket. I don't feel out of place. I still attend cons for fun, but I mainly staff or sell in artist alley.

That said, there are a lot more teenagers than when I began attending. But back then, fandom, cosplay, conventions themselves weren't as well-known or commonplace.

Best part about going to cons over 30 is having disposable income with your career to do what the fuck you want at a con. I do not miss the days of room stuffing with 8 other congoers and being on a super tight budget. That shit was tolerable in 2007 when you were a wide eyed teen or college student with anime hype flowing through your veins. Now? Not worrying about how much a room costs and having that room BY YOURSELF is the best for your peace of mind and to wind down. Having a nice sit down meal instead of a bowl of coffeepot ramen does wonders for you as well.

It gets better the older you get if you have your shit together.

most girls i know fucked guys much older than them when they were still under 18 and they dont regret it. it's the old hags that have a problem with it and somehow brainwashed men into also having a problem with it.
considering i can go out on any given day (especially with summer around the corner) and see a 12 year old girl's ass hanging out of her shorts and little tits in a low crop shirt, while she's out with her family, makes the whole age of consent thing really messed up.

Mad jealous. Girls love hanging out with me and talking. Any girl that Im fucking casually sees this as a major threat and will not shut up about it. Yes but there's various types of asocial people. The modern young people suck at socializing. Whereas the old guard at least came from an era where they were raised enough to be socially calibrated. So they may be nerds, but they are social and sensible. Today's youth seems off.
