They saw whatever you bought from them on mercari or fril, bought it for cheap and sold it to you for 5 times the price. And they will use the profit to buy more items you want to sell them to you for 5 times more.

I’m well aware of them being discussed here and on people’s insta stories and I know I’m not the only one who’s bought from them at decent prices. I doubt they’re doing a pseudo-dropshipping operation because their photos are consistent. I’m pretty sure I know where they got the Stardust Fantasia jsk bc I narrowly missed out on the fril listing lol, but I still got it for current market value/below RRP regardless so I’m not mad. No one cares about Elegant Marine which is probably why it cost ¥9500

I guess a lot of lolitas (Japanese and abroad) probably won’t buy from them on principle but I have no such scruples

What do you guys expect from a LM seller when something gets lost? Is it reasonable to expect all of your money back?
I personally think it's the seller's responsibly to add insurance if they want to protect themselves. I think PayPal's TOS even says it's the responsibility of the seller to provide proof of delivery.

I think it's somewhat buyers responsibility to add insurance too or check seller's policy. Like yeah you will likely get a PayPal refund because PayPal always sides with buyers, but many sellers offer insurance and explicitly say you have to request it since it costs extra and a lot of people don't want to add it to save a couple bucks and get fucked in the end. Many sellers refuse to ship large or pricy things without insurance and some buyers beg them to for a discount.

It's really dependent on if it was addressed at all. If its in your TOS and the buyer doesn't ask or asks for no insurance then the buyer is at fault for not reading and being cheap.

If you're so concerned then you'd really want it to be insured right? The concept itself is predicated on the idea that you insure things whose value you're uncomfortable with losing and you don't for things you don't care about.

That seems like a consideration for the seller more so than for the buyer though. The sale is not really complete until its in the buyer's hands, and every seller on LM is using PayPal, so they have to play by those rules.
I know being an individual seller sucks, but I just charge the buyer for any added insurance without asking if they want it. Always. If they claim it's too expensive, they should have already known from my listing. I don't really understand sellers who are fast and loose with postal services. Something will eventually get lost, and a buyer is not going to shrug it off.

It's actually just the seller screwing themselves over when they don't include insurance in the shipping charges. I rather lose a single buyer than lose both the item and the money.

The seller shouldn't have to foot the bill for the buyers laziness. The transaction ends for the seller when they no longer have control over the package. You can flip it any way but really both parties are responsible. I always ask for insurance because if my shit got stolen off my porch or off a mail truck or a hurricane wiped a cargo ship out or a plane crashed, it isn't the seller's fault or even the mailman's fault. Shit happens and that shit is both people's job to deal with after the fact.

Anon, I don’t know what country you’re from but where I live, even if the package has tracking and is insured, the courier will feign responsibility and refuse to pay out the insurance money.

There are also times where asswipe buyers lie and claim the package wasn’t delivered so they keep the item and make a PayPal claim to get their money refunded. I’m sick of issues with purchases going smoothly so I stopped selling on LM altogether.

Starting somewhere early in 2020, CC became a hellscape and the site would completely crash because of how many people began to bot the site. It doesn't crash as much anymore, but bots are very much still in use.

Also yellow was basically the "in" color all of 2021, and Cherry Berry Bunny became popular. The email tonight came hours after the listings were actually uploaded. It sounds like you just need to lurk more.

Basically every secondhand platform has become hyper-competitive over the pandemic (especially for old AP). It's cooled off a little, but only because there's not a lot left on Japanese sites to buy. This reads as one of those forum posts that are like "Your wish is granted but with one big downside." And the downside is cigarette hell. Still, congrats! I know sometimes people don't want to disclose the stench because they fear it might devalue their item, but like, you know... They could help out by airing it out or making it smell nice or just fucking disclosing. The people buying the item will know what they're getting into and will be prepared. Wishful thinking maybe, because then you get the people who cake an item in (cheap) perfume and you can still smell the cancer regardless.

Getting really frustrated with LM, second item I sell in a row that has something go wrong with the shipment (never had issues with transactions before), I forgot to confirm someone's address because I was going through a lot of personal things and turns out they had listed their old address in their paypal and didn't check / tell me. If they can't retrieve it can this be blamed on me or is it on the buyer?

shit i never confirm addresses with people and i think someone only confirmed my address with me like once... i feel like its just common sense if you moved you would check that kind of stuff to change it.
with lm they do tell you to confirm addresses, but paypal would probably side with you.
seems like worse that could happen is you get banned from lm, but do mods even respond to people anymore? doubt theyd really do anything.

I never confirm, it should be up to the buyer to get their address right before they buy, though I do appreciate when some buyers send their address to check for shipping quotes beforehand.

Also be careful, this happened to me twice. First time the person I think was a scammer and filed a charge back. They won the case but I was saved because of tracking saying delivered (I gave evidence from lacemaket too). Second time I had to cancel 3 times as they hadn't changed their address as they said they would (costing me money).
