Wear something that matches your skin. Something that doesn't match your skin is going to have an obvious line when you eventually get to a place where it's not covering your skin (neck, chest, etc). If you want to brighten up parts of your face then use highlight, if you want to contour or add a more sunkissed look than use bronzer. Something too light or too dark usually end up looking patchy as your natural skin color shows through. On that note, also make sure to match to your undertone

I use tenso to buy from them, I haven't had any issues. I think their quality is pretty typical of fast fashion, maybe a little worse than your Ank Rouge and Secret Honeys, but much better than Taobao or even H&M. Be warned though, in my experience their sizing runs a little large. The measurements they list per garment have been accurate in my experience, but for things like outerwear where you might have some leeway I'd buy smaller.

imo textures and fabric type are more important than matching your blacks. Like you wouldn't want to wear a cheap see-through poly blouse with a heavy textured cotton dress, the textures would clash. And you wouldn't want to pair a very faded almost-grey piece with something brand new that's still super dark, since it would just make the old piece look more dingy.

I've also found that things like collar shape and lace are a lot more important. With sweet and classic you can make a coord that works just because the color balance is right, even if the actual details are messy. But bc coords are less colorful in gothic, the coord is balanced out through the details.

Corset lacing doesn’t ring a bell to you at all?

>> No.10728189

>>10728180
They aren't a thing because most corsets are designed to create the wrong shape for lolita garments. Western-style corsets minimize the waist, but are designed to shift that fat/tissue to accentuate the bust and hips. Big busts don't mix well with lolita. Not only are most lolita garments designed with a modest rectangular shape, bigger breasts can looks bad and can seriously throw off the desired silhouette. Plus corsets can actually add bulk under clothes.

Traditional corsets worn over top of clothes puts the waist line and poof at the wrong spot for lolita. Most western corsets have the smallest point at the natural waist and compress garments down to the pelvis bones. In lolita, the smallest point of waistline is usually raised slightly above the natural waist and the poof begins above the pelvis.

All that said, waist-cinchers, mini corsets, high-waisted and corset lacing are all lolita staples. But they are all fitting the proper silhouette.

My waist right now is 98cm. If I were to buy another OP to alter it, I don't think it would keep the cinched waist silhouette I love. I'd much rather lose the quarantine weight (15 lbs down so far!) and keep the dress as a goal.

That being said, if I do get down to a healthy weight and find my waist is still too big, I'll definitely alter it.

Anon I own mm and vm i don’t think its doable for you unless you can also cut off your shoulders width. It will also not look good on you because the waist will hit you in your underbust instead of your actual waist.
It’s also. -30cm difference to lose and you have to be realistic.
I think a better route is learn how to sew or get a dressmaker. and copy the dress you like but make it bigger and taller for you.

if you mean, do colour contacts come with a prescription, yes they can.
Some sites make you show them a prescription before ordering lenses in certain countries. Have you seen your eye doctor and been fitted for contact lenses? You need to make sure you get lenses with the correct measurement for the curvature of your eye (base curve) otherwise you'll be uncomfortable or even fuck up your eyes. At your appointment, they'll also teach you how to put them in and take them out properly, as well as how to clean and store them so you don't give yourself an eye infection.

Lastly, all the lenses in pic related seem more like costume lenses. They're probably not gonna be comfortable for daily wear and I wouldn't recommend them for that either. But there are brands that your eye doctor might sell that make coloured lenses more suitable for everyday wear. they're gonna be more on the subtle side, but better for your eyes in the long run, and some come in monthly or daily version (ones that last you a month vs ones you throw out after wearing once).

Pupil is the black part nonny. It's technically an opening (well, your eye lens is behind it) and that's how light reaches the back of your eye. I'm just going off the assumption you're ESL and haven't heard these terms much before.

People do have different size and shape eyeballs, yes (in fact shape is what is responsible for nearsightedness, astigmatism and all that good stuff). But I'd guess the size of the iris is similar enough in people that wearing coloured lenses shouldn't fuck with your vision. the contact lens is clear, but with a coloured ring painted on it roughly where your iris is (iris is the coloured part of your eye). Sometimes, your iris will show underneath the contact lens, so for example, if you wear a red contact you will get a bit of colour around the edges especially if you have light eyes. But for the most part it shouldn't be noticeable unless it's up close.

What's the best way to address bare elbows on a fur coat? A vintage one I got that would otherwise be very cute and warm has elbows where the fur has worn (shed?) off. I can't find anything online about fixing this particular issue even though I imagine it would be common with vintage fur. I was thinking about adding some decorative patches out of some nice kimono fabric scraps I bought, but because the worn areas are irregular, some fur might go under the patch if I just sew it on? But I also don't want to shave back any fur and fuck it up? What kind of professional would I even go to for this? Help desu

you would probably have to look for a furrier to get repairs done- i'm assuming normal tailoring places don't typically deal with fur. worn patches usually have new fur put in rather than doing patches in another material for the very reasons you listed. your coat will last much longer if you go ahead and get it fixed.

seconding that you should just ask the organizer, but most taobao ss (or at least superbuy) list how much the item weighs when it's delivered to the warehouse. What I do is (total weight of your items ÷total weight of all items) to get your weight %, and then you pay that percentage of shipping. so if the comm order was 100kg and you bought stuff worth 10kg (say, a 6kg item and a 4kg item), then your weight is 10% so you pay 10% of the shipping. Jsk replicas most of the time end up looking cheap (you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about tier), whereas bodyline rocking horses are perfectly good shoes.
Also, the price difference between a replica and a brand jsk is smaller compared to the difference between $600 VWs and $40 bodylines.
Finally, replicas are trying to fool you. Bodyline, while not having the best brand reputation, is at least not parading as Vivienne Westwood.
Something something scalpers, don’t have experience with them desu

>> No.10734168

>>10734156
I can't say everyone's personal takes but I think at large there are a few reasons:

1. Some people don't realize RHS are knockoffs of VW
2. Many people are buying secondhand like bodyline anyway so not directly supporting replica makers
3. Shoe design replicas are accepted more than art and print replicas in the community, especially because of size constraints from JP brands even though VW themselves don't fall into this category
4. VW is a major normie brand that people don't care about replicas and knockoffs of. Sometimes lolitas don't value non lolita brand names at all and have a negative association of them with normie conspicuous consumption trends and end up justifying behavior they'd see as unacceptable if it was done to lolita brands.

There could be other reasons. Legally they're questionable and ethically probably not okay. I bought bodyline RHS secondhand before I ever learned that VW was the original and I now I feel embarrassed about it and don't wear them even though they held up well. I can't imagine doing that now that I know.

>> No.10734169

>>10734168
Legally shoe (and dress, actually) design replicas are fine. You can’t copyright a non-print clothing or shoe design under most circumstances, to my understanding. The morals of that are another story, but they are legally in the clear.

And I completely get the financial aspect, you can save so much living with them but you're trading off independence and autonomy. Personally I think while you live with them you should tone your hobbies down and double down on saving hard so that when the opportunity comes to leave you will be very well off and then can go hard on your hobbies without judgement

It's totally possible that you DO have a spending problem. Being in this fashion (any online hobby community, really) can really skew your perception of how much you should spend and consume. Very few normies go around collecting dozens or hundreds of tacky dresses, for example.

From your parents perspective, it probably seems like you're always acquiring new things. Plus, unless they have access to your bank account they really don't know how much money you are/aren't saving. So, if you don't have a shopping problem then the only way for them to really be at ease is to let time prove you right. If you don't hoard your room full of stuff, then clearly you are getting rid of things you bought. If you don't go broke, and move out and become successful, then you didn't piss away all your money on fashion junk.

You and your parents also will eventually accept the fact that you each prioritize different things. You like fashion, they like bowling or whatever. They're going to think a lot of things you buy are stupid and vice versa. It's just part of having an adult relationship with your parents.

Thanks anon, but i'm not living with them to save money, I had some mental health issues so I'm living with them to recover. I've been living on my own just fine for a few years before now while also funding my lolita hobby perfectly well, on my own.
I guess I will tone down a little to make them more comfortable at least.

thanks anon, yeah my room is definitely NOT full of stuff and i'm not hoarding things i don't use. And i've been living on my own just fine and paying for my own bills and lolita hobby.... before moving back to my parents place (mental health issues but i'll be fine in a few months).
I'll just have to stand by my hobbies and not let myself feel ashamed if i'm not in any debt or financial trouble. and i am sure time will tell and prove that i am ok. But also, i will tone down for now just to make my parents more comfortable at least.

The asymmetrical skirt looks like trash, in my humble opinion.

the asymmetrical part looks cringe and tryhard edgy. it's too much and like they just slapped on a random long piece of tulle. there's so much better options for asymmetrical skirts

How do you guys make your twintails look cute? Mine always look so....meh. Wondering what the trick is to hide the hair ties and get more volume.

Here are some things I've found that help with twin tail cuteness:
>the main thing is volume, use a hair needle thing to pull the tail under the tie and up over itself.
>pull hair at the top of the tail taught, and pull the hair on the bottom out a little to add height
>tie the bottom half of one side of your head's hair into a tail, and then add the top of the head's hair and tie again. Two ties means more stability and less likely to sag
>use the ole "wrap a strand of hair around the tie to hide it" trick.
>get wrap around ponytail extentions. You'll need to secure this really well though
>adding srcunchies can help add some support by holding up the bottom of the tail
I hope my shitty diagrams can show what I mean for the first and second point. One point of warning I have, especially if your hair is heavy or thick is that you may have to trade nice looking twin tails for a headache

Not trying to make this a political thing, but I commissioned a wig from someone from Russia on etsy. I live in the US, should I be concerned about not getting it with all craziness going on right now? I want to ask my seller but I can't think of a non selfish way of asking

Sorry if this is retarded but does anyone know a place where u can buy ankle length black gothic loli-able skirts/jsk’s? Kinda weird to ask cuz usually lolita skirts go to the knee-ish
