Look at tons of inspo. Start off with Japanese gal models and magazine scans- there are loads of resources online. Eventually you'll get an eye for what is "gal" and what is "not". But there's not strict rules like lolita and unlike the majority of the gaijin gyaru community thinks, even the rules for the different "substyles" are nebulous at best. It's more about wearing what you like and making it "look gyaru". Look at old gyaru secrets and archived threads to see what not to do.

I think anons meant to remove glue that attaches the lashes to the packaging. Aliexpress lashes don't come with glue. Also please be aware that many countries including the US don't regulate these kinds of items until after something bad happens to a consumer, which in many cases isn't until decades later. That being said lashes aren't considered makeup or cosmetics they are just plastic, the glue is though. I'd be more concerned about "homemade" lashes on etsy than aliexpress.

IMHO, men never fetishized real gals; gals fetishized themselves to appeal to men. It is, in Japan at least, a fetish fashion that originally emerged to capture and harness Western sex appeal. I'm not gyaru but I do take some inspo from the style. I like Egg's Airi, Erika, Kyiiripu, and Momoa. They look a bit more mature and less cutesy. I do quite like it when the current Egg models still use some dark under/around the eyes. I find they've got a nice in-between of shaping the eye differently, accentuating the eye, and getting those nearly black eyes when looked at from a distance while smiling without being as over the top as many older gyaru photos.

I also still follow Koda Kumi. It seems unpopular but I like her new work as well as her old and she's still looking great most of the time.

I neither said, nor implied that Jersey Shore is the origin of gyaru. As you said, it has been around much longer than that. Rather, my point was that Jersey Shore exists as an uncomfortable, yet accurate example of real gyaru/ gyaruō in their natural environment. It breaks the illusion that a gyaru is some pretty Japanese girl, and not the popular bitch from your highschool who would have bullied you in slang and thrown your EGG magazines in the trash. I think that point is almost impossible to refute, once you admit how gyaru came to be & who it’s for.

Snooki is a particularly good example, because she’s so ratchet that she accidentally looks like a Japanese gyaru cosplayer 50% of the time.
