Apparently one of the designers has permission to use the designs and factory, so Boz won't die completely.

Saw this here: https://stephano.me/blog/atelier-boz-closing/

“So sorry to speak Japanese [草泥马].
I’m sorry for closing the brand suddenly. I had a discussion with the current president and we decided to close the brand.
After the closure of the brand, I will create a new brand. After the brand closes, I will create a new brand, and the current president is supporting me for that.
Fortunately, I was given permission to use the same patterns and sewing factory as Atelier Boz, so I can promise you the same high quality as before!
We’ve been working on a lucky pack for the end of the year, which will be released in November or December.
It will be sold under either Atelier Boz or the new brand name!“

We're really lucky to hear that the designer Rachel Yamamoto will take on a new brand from Boz.

It is a shame the better quality brands like Boz and Mary Magdalene could not get the overseas market sorted out like some of the cheaper brands have done. Personally, I'm going to trust something that has the data charted out a bit better than that.

This one has 2019 listing. You can download it into a spreadsheet. It still lists 4'9 as average height. If you need to compare where they are actually getting the data, it's on that sheet too.

Also you literally said average height for young woman, not average height of all females within Japan. Literally, there are two different data points here and I stated above that the national average is 4'9. It still stands, you can't just use a data point for a small sample size (age) and say it's national average.

Yeah, I'm sure Atelier Boz was trying to cater to all the elderly Japanese lolitas.

>> No.10666424

>>10666416
Honestly younger lolitas would likely be taller than older ones. From my experiences in Japan and just how height increases over time in many societies as they develop and diets change, elderly Japanese adults, women especially, are likely to be shorter than younger women despite being fully grown because of nutrition improvements for the younger generation often leading to them growing taller or bigger. Most Japanese teen girls I saw (middle-high school based on their uniforms) were often taller than myself and the office ladies I'd see. I'm about 5'2 for reference so about average for Japan statistically, but most people were taller than me other than little old ladies. This was Kyoto, idk what the difference may be in different parts of the country. It could also be that the average isn't representative of what most people's height sits around, maybe Japan has a lot of very tall and very short people on either end and not a lot of people actually in the middle but the average is that in between number.

>> No.10666425

>>10666424
>the average is that in between number.

It could be due to diets and generational cross breeding (you know, mutt genes) that might make them taller. That'd make central cities more predominate for taller genes, as well considering a lot of the old gen is out in the boonies, there.

But regardless, sizing of clothing is typically based on average height. Maybe Boz really is agender in the way it decides it's sizing, but it's been larger/taller than the majority of average Japanese women's heights. I'm 5'2, even with the majority of 'young' Japanese girls being 5'2 argument, Boz would still be too long/too big on the majority of them. Because, I know my measurements and there's no way they are not literally swimming in M+ sizing.

Why does discussion about sizing always devolve into eugenics?

Their sizing is definitely tall lolita friendly. International market has tall people. It would have helped. That's it.

>> No.10666447

>>10666441
My comment wasn't about eugenics at all lol. I was just discussing my height in relation to Japanese women I lived around for years and the fact that height and weight tends to increase amongst people in countries that adopt certain diets like eating more meat which Japan as well as other Asian countries have been doing more of over time.

And the fact that better nutrition in general can lead to people being taller, and older people from a while ago are very likely to be shorter than people in a modern society as current kids' nutrition is often better than their great grandparents. You sometimes see it in kids from the same generation. Ex: my Filipino friend who was raised part of her childhood in the Philippines is shorter than me at about 5 feet, but her younger sister who was born and raised in the US in an environment where they had better access to more nutritious food is like almost a foot taller. It is to be fair just speculation and I can't guarantee that that is the specific cause but like, it has nothing to do with race or eugenics to point out that giving a growing kid more nutrients might make them taller than them not eating as well. That's why neglected or very poor children frequently are the size of kids years younger than their actual age. Not saying all Japanese kids were poor or neglected but living standards there increased rapidly over a short period of time due to industrialization like they do everywhere when that happens.

Tldr: eat more grow bigger maybe?

Also to add, I never said their sizing was unfriendly to westerners at all, was just giving thoughts on the "average height" stuff. Plus even if lengths/heights aren't catered to westerners specifically, that doesn't mean it isn't accessible to taller westerners who want to wear the brand.

Ignore this >>10666441 anon. The majority of these boring AF unemployed or part time lolitas on this board add no value and think their shitposting opinions matter.

But I see where you're going with the better nutritional diets causing taller heights in Japan. I still think it's predominately around the city area, just in general they would have a lot more convenience and access to food they didn't normally. There's been pretty big influence from the West in general in their culture, predominately you see it in the 90's and on. I wouldn't doubt all the Micky D's probably would encourage taller heights too.

I'd probably assume it's not just nutrition with the US, though. We have growth hormones in some of our food in the US. There's some finicky stuff with food here, because of what we use to make things 'plumper.' By extension, those hormones also end up in the body of whoever is eating it on the regular.

>> No.10666467

>>10666459
I've heard of growth hormones causing earlier puberty in girls but not height neccesarily. I started puberty between age 8 and 11 and am still short after. It does makes sense though. There are also cultural height things like that one country in Europe where most people are insanely tall because they always just found tall people more attractive so tall people are getting with other tall people and having tall babies.

>> No.10666472

Also ended up having puberty way earlier than usual, so that would explain a lot. I was also towering over the other kids at 8-10. It didn't last long. lmao.
I'm guessing the excessive estrogen probably has a different effect on men, though. Anytime I see a beefy guy in the US, they are also usually tall AF.
Had an ex bf with boobs despite being not fat-fat just thick, he was taller than usual and was a lot more of a large human. Men having boobs usually makes me think it's excess estrogen in general. I wouldn't be surprised if it had that effect on guys.

But realistically, that's your own culture that you're trying to project onto a completely different area on the world and culture, again, regardless. No one outside of the US thinks "I need to be the most accepting of all races and cultures to enforce diversity." That's literally your American brain.

All I was saying is that it's 'understandable' for them to be the way they are, not that it's ok, idiot. But regardless, you don't have control over what another culture in another country does and thinks.

Those empty racks and everything is super sad to see, especially with the peeling fake stained glass.

Did anyone manage to get anything on the bloodbath on the 6th with the restock? Everything sold out immediately.

I was hoping to be able to get this blouse someday but as it doesn't seem like that's ever going to happen, any suggestions for very dour gothic blouses like the Josephine blouse in good quality? It's sort of a goth staple but most western goth brands seem to be pretty shit quality.

I just checked lolibrary's Roland pages and most of there photos aren't showing.

Does god hate boz

No, Boz just doesn't have a designated lolibrarian to manage and maintain entries. Really hope someone steps up, my hands are too full to take on another brand.

I hope any anons trying to get a reservation today for the few items they put up were able to. My internet was a bit wonky but I was able to get an order in, hopefully there’s no snags there.

Oof, that sucks. I hope you can find something nice secondhand, I’ve seen some other Boz stuff show up on Violet Blue and Tokyo Alice so if you haven’t been checking there and can order through them, maybe something will pop up. Best of luck!

Apparently one of the designers "was given permission to use the same patterns and sewing factory as Atelier Boz" (https://stephano.me/blog/atelier-boz-closing/))
So I really hope that they'll be back sooner then 5 years
