They just tore down the crusty Ramada it used to be at, this fall it's gonna be over in Council Bluffs. It'll be interesting to see how it fares in a much bigger venue.

The staple of Nebkon is the party rooms, where the con would buy a block of rooms right by the inner atrium area and people would run themed party rooms with free drinks. Idk if the new venue will change that. I've only been to Nebkon once in the Before Times so I don't know too much about its history.

Yes. It is a small con but has grown exponentially in the last 5+ years and gets bigger every year. Although its a party con you can still have a good time if you're sober. Try not to have high expectations, though. But the artists are great.

Another thing- if you attend room parties or drink at all I would recommend bringing a buddy. Sexual harrassment and sexual assault is a problem at this con.

Yup, painfully horny is a good way to describe it. I believe the host is a husband and his wife (or it was a couple years ago). The entire convention kind of felt that way desu. Very few people there were actually Asian too, just unlike any other anime convention I've been to.

The dealers' hall had some cool import items and vintage merch booths though.

It's definitely on the smaller side. I didn't go last year, so I'm not sure what the turnout will be with the venue change plus COVID still somewhat a thing. I don't have any complaints, but I'm easy to please. Dealer's room was nice, gaming room was greasy but nice, party rooms are generally fun, dance floor is overrun by furries at any given point. It's good if you live here, but there's really no reason to travel for it unless there's a panel you specifically want to see (doubt).

I really like the new venue, but there's absolutely fuck-all to do in Council Bluffs, and I live too close to justify getting a hotel room to hang out at room parties. All 3 days I just drove straight home after midnight or so.
