Last thread >>10611530

>> No.10617859

I posted this in the feels thread already but I have a beautiful vintage rabbit fur beret I've worn with a lot of coords but have had to lie to people about and tell them that it's fake because people swing into moral panic about real fur. I don't get it, because a lot of the same people who do this are perfectly okay with wearing leather, sheepskin/shearling (like UGGs), silk, and eating meat frequently. And I don't want to hear that meat is a necessity because yeah it is, but not at the amounts your average American eats it (which is far higher per capita than any other country). Is killing animals okay or not?

>> No.10617868

>>10617859
I know that feel anon. I had a coat with coyote fur that was given to me and people would bitch at me for owning it even though it was normal to hunt coyotes (without using the corpse) just because they were a nuisance and it was GIFTED to me, did they think I was going to throw away a perfectly good coat?

>> No.10617878

>>10617859
Ngl I do feel iffy at first but literally vintage or second hand I don't see the problem since said animal was killed years and years ago, like there is not much you can do now and in a way I think it's more fair to the animal to wear it in than not at all?
If it's newly bought then I don't like it
When it comes to leather the only "new" leather I own are dr Martens but my coats are or fake or vintage and I'm a vegetarian but idk if that makes any difference

If you care, I don't eat animals and own a rabbit and think it's perfectly okay especially if it's vintage. Raising animals in shitty conditions for fur is considered bad for a reason and I wouldn't buy new fur garments but if you already have one don't let it go to waste. Think how many lolitas order fur pom poms or other accessories from China. It would be hypocritical for someone to go after your beret. Rabbits are cute and I think it's the main reason people care.

Oh also yea the reason they react like that is because almost everyone is a massive hypocrite who becomes deeply uncomfortable when confronted with anything that challenges their idea of themselves as a decent person, even if you weren't intending to do so. And fur, being in basically the same form on you that it is on the animal, reminds them of the life that was taken for your fashion. And by implication, for their fashion, and food, and pleasure.

It takes a lot of effort and work to recognize the reflex in oneself (especially regularly), and it's even harder to do so then make changes that bring your behavior in line with your self-perception. Most people never really 'get' there because it's so much more comfortable to come up with a list of excuses as to why you can't possibly change, or it's someone else's fault, or it is in fact a problem but if you were more polite about the rabbit fur or didn't wear it because it makes them uncomfortable they might ACTUALLY consider your points, or or or.

What is a man? A miserable little ~~pile of secrets~~ hypocrite.

>>10617894
No petticoat is ita, but also overstuffing is equally ita.

Tangentially related, but most fat/chubby lolitas could really benefit from smoothing shapewear, even if their clothes fit. Lolita is delicate enough that you can't rely on the clothes themselves to keep shape; like the right petticoat, the right compression garment would probably help a lot of lolitas look less embarassing in the fashion.

>> No.10618042

This only applies for cheap thin shit or poly. Maybe some light unlined things like thinner BTSSB JSKs but those are not gonna fit a fatty anyway.

Partially shirred things can have good structure (like 1/4 shirring, not usually full back/half shirring), but also my FPS fully shirred JSK actually feels quite sturdy and the cotton pretty thick despite it being the MTO. Some BTSSB fully shirred JSKs also feel quite stiff and sturdy and have strong elastic, but I guess if you were fat enough to max out those full shirring items you are gonna look squished by it and weird cause fatties also hate wearing bras in lolita. Really the issue is fatties are too squishy or big and force the clothes out of shape by not fitting in them well a lot of the time, not that the clothes can't keep their shape, at least the nicer stuff from most sweet brands.

I hate to be preachy like this but 32D is on the smaller side when properly fitted, contrary to popular belief. It should mean your ribcage is about 32 inches and your bust is about 36 inches (the D stands for 4 inches difference). You might not be wearing the best size for you and from personal experience I've found that everything fits way better after getting properly sized. I'm not saying getting a new bra will magically make you fit into IW but it might help a little or at least make you more comfortable with your chest.

It's best to go to a professional fitter (avoid Victoria's Secret and other shitty mall-tier shops) but I get that that's not easy right now. The most accurate online calculator I've found is https://abrathatfits.org/calculator.php.. I'm not exaggerating when I say that getting the right size has changed my life, please give it a chance.

Also like I said earlier my ribcage is fucked up from binding as a teen so I don't even wear bras anymore because it's just too painful (I only wear jsks with blouses underneath and sometimes stick on those silicone nipple covers so you can never tell)

NAYRT but I had a breast reduction after being 30F... that's not how that works. Unless anon is wearing the wrong bra size (is your underwire sitting on the line where the breast tissue stops? Is the center gore laying flat/the back laying straight?) Wearing a sister size of a smaller band isn't going to make your breasts smaller.
If you can afford it, a breast reduction with a good surgeon is godly though. I'm down to a 30D and while my size didn't change too much the difference has been well worth it

Eh. It's vintage. You didn't directly support a fur farm. I don't see an issue. And you're right, people are very hypocritical. They'll freak out about fur but turn around and eat beef. Is it because they consider rabbits to be cute, but not cows or pigs?

I think anyone who balks at the idea of killing a 'cute' animal for consumption, but is okay with killing an 'ugly' one, should think about why that is. Arguably, it's worse to kill the cow or the pig because they are intelligent and social creatures, moreso than a rabbit.

tl;dr wear your vintage fur. If people get mad about it, and they're still eating meat, they are hypocrites.

Like when people follow makeup tutorials exactly without accounting their own features only, she does it with everything. That's why everything like color or shade is off on top of her doing things like wearing the worst blush on the worst part of her face. And considering she also wears literal clown makeup, which is about hiding your features with an easy to follow tutorial, she's definitely not used to actual makeup. The most important part of wearing makeup well is to wear it with your features in mind, not making them something to hide. I know this is a bit weird but I'm a guy that just turned 20 and I'm in love with the fashion. I stumbled upon an ita thread when looking at different boards and I thought it was hilarious that a bunch of women were being so toxic over dresses. I kept on coming back and at this point I'm 3 months in and now I smile like a fucking idiot whenever I see a really nice coord with a woman smiling. I dont think it's the male gaze or anything sexual at all. I just REALLY like how cute the dresses look and all the attention to detail that goes into a nice coord. My guess is that I just like the amount of femininity in the fashion. I don't know the point of this post, I just wanna say keep being cute. People who have been in the fashion longer say I'm "new" and people who are been in the fashion for shorter just seem shallow to me and can never talk at the same level. It's extremely lonely and frustrating. I kind of hate the fashion right now because of it.

Sometimes I feel like quitting because the fashion feels so diluted. It felt like a small space before (I know, it was much smaller before I got into it too). Now everything feels like a giant free for all and the quality of the average person is so low. I can't quit though, because I love the clothes. I just wish 80% of the community would disappear.

>> No.10622586

>>10622580
I’ve been feeling similarly. It’s fine to quit the community, but continue to participate in the fashion on your own. It helps me to spend time looking through my magazine collection and just focus on why I fell in love with the fashion to begin with.

i don’t think that’s much of a flex t b h, myself and my friends average around there (i know one in particular with like 90 or 100). plus having more of one inexpensive thing doesn’t really mean much

tiktok isn’t fun to flex on anyway, lolita content doesn’t get much traction unless it’s “anyone can be a lolita, especially if you’re fat”

>> No.10622871

>>10622867
I actually love seeing people's huge stash of items too. So part of it would be for the flex, and the other part would be for me, in a way.

>>10622870
Oh yeah, I know it's not super impressive to have 65 headbows or anything. I just thought about it today and realized that a relatively insignificant part of my wardrobe is still worth thousands (not even calculating what the headbows might sell for currently). It's not like the headbows I have are throw away items either. A lot of them are in high demand right now, so I guess that would add to the flex or whatever.

I think in general it's more impressive to have a cohesive wardrobe. I have a 100% AP pastel sweet wardrobe and it's been that way for years, so right now I could see me throwing all that on tiktok and nu-litas would grovel.

Yeah, as long as you've thought about the decision carefully. I guess that's why it's good you're building up to it. Consider why you feel old, fat and ugly in the mean time and try focus on reflecting on those feelings. At the end of the day, they are just clothes, and despite being in this hobby I think clinging onto clothes in can easily get unhealthy. Just don't be harsh on yourself, especially in your mid 20s/healthy weight. Mid 20s isn't old and it's good for yourself you're at a healthy weight.

All that being said, if you do decide to sell, I, too, hope you ship worldwide :)
