My comm is just starting to be active again after covid so people are getting nasty again, what's happening (or not happening) in your comm, what's new, who's stirring the pot, any fun events whatever

This happened in my old comm about 3 years ago. A couple of lolitas had some beef with each other (call them A and B) Some drama from a con about B letting A walk alone drunk at night back to their hotel and B was mad that A kept trying to bring boys back to their room. B kept selfposting herself here and making secrets, accused A who got banned because B made it look like A was doing all of it. Then the B's other friend told one of the mod's accidentally (who I was friends with) that she was selfposting and posting others in the comm here as well. When B got confronted she freaked out and flounced, then tried to say everyone was bullying her and scared noobs into joining a shitty comm she made. Shit was wild.

This one mod stresses me out so I started planning meets privately. After doing this for years I've got a large group chat of people. I want to make a private fb group and invite a few more people, to make things easier, but also in case the same mod somehow fucks up the main comm. She wants other "mods" to actually run the comm, like screen new members and host meets, without giving them any say about how the comm is run. And she's trying to sjw but in a way that's just awkward and kind of offensive. She basically posted a shopping list of minorities to make up this diversity board. I just want a nice place for people who are into lolita to interact with each other, one where people can share and support each other.

Dear ladies if /cgl/

I am having trouble locating a local active comm where I could try to get to know. Anyway I have crack head creative energy and I want to create custom rococo themed budget tools for several budgeting techniques. Like a weekly booklet that's seasonal and a whole year. I was also thinking of doing a custom design for envelope budgeting and I have no idea if there would be enough people interested in lifestyle items like that.

My local comm is barely alive. The leaders are older than my friends and I, and they have such a tight knit group. They're all 30-something Etsy shop runners who have been moderating the comm since the dawn of time. Anyways, it's awkward because half the past "meets" involved traveling to out-of-state cons... which is kind of impractical for some of the poorer young members (who happen to be ita). There is then a cycle where a few itas will complain they couldn't make it to X and when will we just have a "chill" meet aka something extremely inexpensive. Our comm members say they're welcome to pitch ideas but no one self-respecting attends their mall meetups.

I'm pretty sure they're just over asspatting at this point and want to associate with their friend group. It's exclusive to the point of it being obvious. There are a lot of noobs who post often and drown us out, so they might just be grouping all us young members together so the itas don't get butthurt? I'm also positive that some of the older members are posting them here despite us being a private FB group. But there are about 4 solid young girls including myself who wear the fashion regularly and party with them at cons, but aren't old enough to *entirely* relate. We've discussed the rift because we have our own groupchat. So would it be weird to ask them directly to take us under their wing? They're very sweet and cool women who do the fashion justice and we've definitely been favored by them in meets past. But I don't know if they'd be chill completely breaking off into another separate comm, and if they genuinely give a fuck about the itas who start dramu and make us all look bad. I just want a comm mom.

Not trying to call you a newfriend to be mean, but you must not have been around long enough to have witnessed first-hand what a cgl meetup would be like and why no one would want to do them.

Plus gulls are fucking nuts. I don't want to meet people like that in person with the context being "we both browse this awful but useful/occasionally nice and wholesome when you look past all the infighting website". I'm sure tons of gulls are nice but I'd rather just meet lolita friends in person and if they use cgl cool, if not, cool.

I can see how it came off that way in my blogpost. I've been wearing gothic for about 3.5 years now and while many of my comm members are lovely, a chunk of them either A. are tragically new B. are at a different stage in life or C. aren't interested in multiple substyles. We’ve had newbs post coord pics in their intro as well as just casually. My best advice is to make the content yourself if no one else if making it. When I started out my comm was pretty dead as well. However, despite being new, I posted coords asking for advice, discussions, and slowly began hosting my own meets. If no ones doing it; you do it. Helps if ur coords are good and u make an effort in improving etc etc. This is a bit difficult now bc of the pandemic but even so you can still post.

My comm is incredibly dead and has been since before the pandemic started. There’s maybe one post a month and it’s usually a short question or someone saying they’re having a “leaving lolita sale”. No one talks or interacts within the group and I’m not really sure why? I wish I could blame the pandemic but I joined a few months before March of last year and nothing has changed. I live in a bigger city as well and I thought the comm would be alive and well. This used to make me sad as a newblita but I’ve started to accept that I probably won’t have a consistent/active comm in my city. I have my best friend who’s a lolita so that’s enough for now. Still a bit jealous of those with good comms.

I'm wary of any dudes in comms now, especially small comms. Ever since I saw that post about an argentinian comm being infiltrated by some scrote who was passing info (names, phone numbers, etc) of the girls to other scrotes in some other forum, I think it was for the other men to be able to hit on the girls and date them. There's this one dude in my state's comm, it's very small but he's just there. No pictures or anything, just one random guy in a comm exclusively comprised of girls. I'm not going to give him anything, no phone number, no real name, no anything. For all I know he could be some other fucking sissy creep trying to create "dating opportunities" for other men.

Seconding this. My comm's Facebook was mostly just for event organizing but at this point, at least imo, go fucking nuts. Communities aren't supposed to be just a few people handmaking every community interaction anyway. Most mods/admins I know including myself, are just as depressed and exhausted as everyone else is. I can't even do virtual meetups because I'm either exhausted or working myself to death. I can't speak of every community but generally, I doubt anything negative would come from just making whatever posts as long as you're not some kind of gremlin crackhead and it's lolita related. If you're really worried just message a mod and ask.

Also age and perceived adult level shouldn't be a deteriorate either. I really only know maybe three older lolitas with actual kids and only one of them acts like a "mom". Most older lolitas still have shit jobs, live mostly like their still in college, and send each other tiktok memes.

My comm is having a bit of an issue with being lumped together with another alt-fashion group in our city. We're from a really small area, so any sort of "nerdy" communities have quite a bit of overlap, but it's gotten particularly frustrating recently with lockdowns and only being able to meet online. In particular, there's been an older member of an "adjacent" fashion community who keeps attending our online meetups, even though she only ever wears the fashion from her group and admits to knowing little to nothing about lolita. Where we're from such a small city, keeping good relationships with the other communities is important, but it's just so frustrating to constantly have her constantly talking over people or interjecting about her lack of lolita knowledge. The past couple of meetups have had this pretty uncomfortable vibe and I can tell the other members have been struggling with knowing how to talk to her.

I'm honestly at a loss on what to do. I'm so worried that if we take any sort of action against her that the other "nerdy" communities will see us as exclusionary, but if she keeps showing up to meetups, our members lose their ability to chat about lolita in a comfortable environment.

I just have a few things to get off my chest about my comm.

- Talking about pro-nouns is boring. Like really boring to have a whole conversation about how you identify why you're not "this" pronoun because as a kid you liked karate/short hair/dresses/pants/whatever. It's so hard to duck out of these conversations because you may look like a bigot, so I end up having to stay for a good portion of it. Your gender identity is not interesting.

- We have one girl in my comm who is nice and is a regular, nothing is really wrong with her. I just find her very boring and she keeps trying to be my close friend.

-To that one girl who love being negative: Just fuck off. It's not cute and you are getting really close to completely ostracizing yourself from the comm. People see the things you post. I also heard what you said about one of your "best friends" during a meet. You're just a real shit of a person.

The majority of itas broke from our comm as we weren't "accomodating" to their needs a while ago, however one has stayed behind.

She's so thick that I can't make conversation with her. We're talking learning difficulty level thick; she has difficulty putting coherent sentences together. Another comm member saw her in their city a few months ago and got so scared of having to make small talk she had to hide.

I feel bad and I know other members do too, however I just want her to go to the ita group.
