It’s more like AP release accessories that match many other releases, so even people who don’t want the dress are tempted by the hair clips or necklaces. And I don’t mind that at all. They release a batch of stuff every single week, AP Paris has stock for VIPs and normal customers, I think it’s really fair. If anything, the chinese scalpers with their bots make the regular japanese release not worth trying.

I'm in the US, so I use an SS for the Japanese release, then AP US, and lastly scalpers as a last resort. I don't even try with Paris because they release half the time when I'm asleep, and the euro exchange rate for the dollar is horrible.

It's become noticeably harder over time to get accessories though. I felt like in the past, it was all about getting the dress. With so much focus on that, it was easier to get accessories directly. Of course, I'm exactly the person who is buying only accessories because some still match my mostly 2010-2014 wardrobe, while being disinterested in all the main pieces.

I sound like a broken record, but AP really should produce more stock of accessories. There was an anon that mentioned people buy multiple colors of accessories too, and that's really relevant. For example, if AP is only producing one pink OTK for every pink dress, they'll be massively understocked. That doesn't account for people wanting multiple colors, or people who aren't buying the dress.

Sorry for my rant. I've been sad about this the past year or so and it's been a strain on how I feel about AP and the fashion in general.

I think a lot of it is what style you personally wear and actively buy. I'm apparently super unlucky that I happened to pick AP sweet years ago, with a really specific color palette, and have never been interested in anything else. I've noticed that basically every release I had no interest in recently has had lots of leftover stock/restocked (like neon diner, little witch, etc) and that group of people doesn't have as hard of a time.

In general I've been successful in getting what I want 80% of the time between an SS and AP USA. I just feel burnt out after every release and there's no relief or excitement, because I know it's just another bloodbath in 2-3 weeks. It's kind of a "me" problem, I know. But yeah, it makes me sad.

I'm safe this time around because I don't like or want the bears/chocolate/CCC releases, but seeing the tights and clips sell completely out way before the dresses just reminds me of that sense of gloom and doom.

They’ve always been a reflection of the current at-large trends. Makeup across all fashions is more toned down and natural and if it’s an OTT look it tends to be more ethereal than fake. The makeup style from back in the OTT era was popular outside of lolita too, it wasn’t just a bunch of OTT lolitas doing it. I didn’t even know what lolita fashion was back then and I was living in Japan and all the girls who were trying at all to be fashionable had eyes done up like that.
Times and fashion changes. If you get stuck on the past you’re going to end up one of those ladies with a Karen haircut. 20 years ago that haircut was cool and they stuck with it and it marks them as out of touch. Find something to inspire you in the current trends and don’t mourn the past because it’s not just makeup, that thinking infects every part of your life and before you know it you’re like one of those people who peaked in high school who still talks about what they wore to prom. Out of all of these girls, only a handful wear exclusively their real hair, most of them wear wigs exclusively or a combination of both. Now it could be that Japanese lolitas don’t bother taking photos of daily life coordinates, and save their social media feeds for fancy, elaborate ones that are more likely to be OTT.

Yeah, which is my problem with some Chinese lolita coordinates. They feel really disorganized and not put together that it's really ugly imho. The only time a seam should look like this is if it's curved, then it has to be clipped, otherwise the fabric won't lie flat and you get a curve that won't sit flat on the skirt. So if the seam is this one on the top of the pocket, then yeah, there's no way around clipping the seams, it's fabric, it won't lie flat if you curve it but don't clip it.

There is a line of topstitching that's containing it (you can see it even in the stock photos, and it's obviously included in your dress because we can't see the bottom of the ricrac trim, which means the bottom of the trim is inside the top stitching). This topstitching is the important part, it's not decorative. The fraying won't be able to get past that line (the topstitching), and the "little squares" of fabric are left outside the line so that it's even harder for the fabric to fray. The fabric itself is fairly lightweight, so this construction method keeps the seams minimal with no extra added bulk.

If you need extra reassurances than random larpers on 4chan, you can google or search youtube for curved pockets, inset curved pockets, and pick the ones that feature lightweight fabric (not jeans material. You can't use the same finishing for heavy material as you do for lightweight material, it'll look stupid bulky). There is also reddit's r/sewing which will be able to tell you the right way to sew these things, and if you have access to a library you could probably look up Reader's Digest complete guide to sewing, it probably covers this kind of pocket.

Hey, at least you know you got a properly sewn garment, what with AP's return policy being non-existent, and now you know what these things are supposed to look like on the inside.

AP‘s usual chiffon is like Sweetie Violet, Melty Cream Doughnut, My Favourite Room, Strawberry Doll, Petit Patisserie or Cream Cookie Collection to name a few. Romantic Rose Letter is completely different in that regard. It shares the same fabric as Mademoiselle de Paris. In my personal experience, AP makes less of items they think won't sell well. And the florals tend to be hit-or-miss rather randomly. So sometimes with the items you think would be unpopular or a niche that AP stans wouldn't normally be into, you want to be even more on the ball for it.

I introduce you to Menuet Bouquet OP, which only caught my attention because it's hideous, and this shit was gone in all colourways, less than an hour after it dropped and doesn't come up often secondhand. I think AP just didn't make much of it because most people don't love it.

I live in California so I have to pay the sales tax when I buy from AP US, and it's still way less than buying from Paris. The conversion rate and shipping makes it a bad deal unless it's a dream item or something.

I also live in CA. Do you pay through Paypal? I pay through Payplug and my credit card has great conversion rates from euro to dollar. Maybe if you're only buying one item it would be cheaper, but I always compare when the US release comes out and I pay about the same, give or take a couple dollars maybe, which I'm happy to pay for convenience.

I got 2 necklaces and the price with shipping was $140 USD, which was worth it to me I guess since the necklaces in the US store will probably be like $58 each plus shipping anyways so it's not too much more to guarantee that I get the things I want.

Although, shipping was going to jump from 15 Euro to 35 Euro if I got 2 necklaces and a ring, which would have been fucking atrocious lol. So I guess only light items are worth it, unless shit is rare.

I’m listed as a beneficiary on all his accounts, we signed paperwork so we can act on each other’s behalf in case of illness. And when we considered taxes, we’d pay more as a couple so nah. I trust him completely, otherwise I wouldn’t be here after so long. I just don’t care about marriage. Maybe one day, but we don’t plan to have kids so I’m not really concerned.

It's a good idea, most men are not worth getting married to and it can leave more problems in the end, especially financially, than not. It's really only a benefit if you have children or dependents. There are other ways to make medical decisions without being married too.
