Hi #2284! I'm assuming you meant me your 50 - 75 santa! The main package is stil in limbo and no updates yet :( However, all the small extra items I ordered during the holidays have arrived so I would be more than willing to prepare those gifts together with all the fillers and send that out now! And then ship out the main gifts when that order finally arrive. Let me know what you would prefer! :)

The misunderstanding is something I apologize for .When I got the items all dinged up n bows I was really confuesed because of the tier and because I was aware of the bow issue years ago, especially since I myself didnt do a good job my first time doing ss and how strict they were about meeting budget .When told he was sending another gift , I wasn't aware it was one already bought .I thought he was getting me new stuff because of what I sent to party and i was told that one item had to be canceled .So I thought that I had it all because of the canceled one and that he was getting Something else after being contacted about it. That is why I asked to not continue .didn't know other stuff was delayed and that's on my part for not reading the message correctly.i was told there was a problem with it so That's the only reason why I asked the organizers to go through with the grinch thing because they mentioned it when seeing my gifts as well.that n stuff being damaged sucked.so again im really sorry about that karl.Luckilly only the harness is damaged but I may be able to fix it. I saw the other Gul and was like "hey same" I wasn't trying to get more.then organizer said I was harassing him when I hadn't ever privately talked to him. And they said the same thing last year when all I did was respond to a question they had. the only thing I ever messaged to my giftee was asking for specific measurements since they forgot them n color pallettes n other application stuff and updates on shipment .thats literally it.no other messages. Like I get being annoyed because I posted and even before me everyone was in an uproar to him.But I never attacked anyone.its just out of nowhere plus sucked seeing my stuff damaged and not knowing the situation .just wanted to clarify that I was absolutely not harassing anyone at all. .Thats why I responeded So that's it.im sorry if you didnt want me to ask for sizes.just wanted to be sure since you had clothing pieces on the list

The gifts came already kind of wrapped. The box is a little hit but like I said the figure is fine. I said it kinda sucks having the box not be in super good condition. Because if I get a legit item I save the box and don't open typically. I do have this nen but as a knock off. I said the harness buckle front strap part is loose but I think I can fix it. The wings also kinda droop really weirdly. but I think my friend can look at it as they do cosplay stuff. I don't know if it's because it was thrown around or if it's just because it's a cheap ali express item. Because reviews were all high and didn't mention any of it. . The packages were small ,in a big box and not wrapped with anything. I do think the harness probably can be fixed . I'm not asking for anything else. I was just trying to explain the reaction both had when seeing it . With added confusion of not knowing for sure if an item was canceled or what. That's all.
I apologize. I know I'm typing hella dumb. I have a new keyboard auto correct app since my phone updated ..which keeps auto correcting words and letters . I go back to fix and then it just re does it again . Super stupid .. I didn't mean to add to the stress . I just wanted to clarify especially about the harassment stuff. I know for the organizer my emails all sent in doubles so maybe that happened to my match to and that bothered them when I asked for their measurements.

This board is so slow now that, were you to start making this a requirement, it's very possible there won't be enough members to make it worth doing, or that long time contributors will drop because they won't risk

I don’t think anyone expects people to go above and beyond, it sucks when one person gets a bunch of stuff because they find good deals and one person just goes with one super over-priced item. Like with the sewing patterns costing $30 when most people would have the wherewithal to finds them for far cheaper. I have a feeling that’s what happened with the purse and candle gift that everyone was upset about, too. Like that candle was $30 and most savvy shoppers would realize that’s too much and wouldn’t pay that much for essentially a filler item and would find a candle for $10. I got my person two dresses for $75 because I’m decent at navigating the secondhand market, but not everyone is and might pay that much for a blouse alone. And that’s not something you can make rules about. So one person might see someone else’s gift and think that Santa went way over when really the Santa just found deals.

>> No.10530654

You're mistaking what I'm saying.

If you sign up for a $100 tier and send a gift worth $100, you expect to receive a $100 gift in return. If you send a $100 gift to receive a $35 gift in return, I feel I have a right to complain. This is why we have price tiers to begin with.

>> No.10530658

>>10530633
I was actually the santa that sent that gift and it was for the $50-75 tier and isn't a good example of quality over quantity because the cat ear/tail set cost $75 on its own, so I heavily splurged on them.

I don't really see why everyone was ragging on candle-anon unless the person who received it was unhappy with it. It's totally possible that they specifically listed that candle or that candle company in their wishlist. I've asked for certain brands of expensive markers before because drawing is one of my hobbies. It was on my wishlist so it was fair game but it might LOOK like my match grinched me to other lolitas.

Just because you yourself would consider it a filler item doesn't mean it necessarily was. And there's no way any of us would know unless we had access to the giftee's wishlist.

>> No.10530751

Hi 6756 $30-$40 tier. I’ve been checking the tracking, but the package never even budged. I did ship it out on December 15, but it still just says “tracking number created” from when I printed out the label at home. I also dropped it off with another package that went overseas and it was delivered right before Christmas. I don’t know what’s going on with your gift but I’m assuming there’s no helping it. So I’m very sorry it hasn’t gotten to you. I have a small AP item worth about $45 that I bought for myself brand new which is the same as one of the items in your gift and it fits with what you wrote in your form. I did spend well over $40 on your original gift, but I can send it to you. Sorry there won’t be as many items. If you’re ok with waiting, I can try to find a few more things that you would like. I volunteered for the grinched gifts so I’m ok with shopping for you again.

>> No.10530777

>>10530752
Going above and beyond is NOT just having common sense and not buying the first overpriced listing you find when you Google, and instead having common sense and looking for better prices. But I wasn’t saying everyone has to do that, I was referring to people seeing a gift that’s not over budget but the Santa was shopping savvy and just assuming they overspent and then feeling pressure that no one but them has put on themselves to buy a better gift.
The only expectation most have is to expect you to put in a good faith effort to find a decent gift and not be lazy, that’s all. But what I was saying was that candle-anon caught the short end of that because people who ARE shopping savvy saw it and didn’t understand that it’s a $30 candle, they just knew they would only spend $10 so they assume the Santa did and didn’t spend the $100

Going above and beyond is going over your price tier, making a bunch of handmade art, buying a bunch of filler items, etc, and no one is saying to do that. Just don’t be dumb.

But also yeah I think candle-anon fucked up. If you want to spend $101 dollars just join the $75-$100 tier instead of the $100+ tier where it’s a common expectation that people spend over that amount and not exactly $100

I think there should be a price gap between 75-100$ and 100+ tiers much like 30-40 and 50-75 are divided by 10$. I feel like it makes it clear that a 50$ gift might be actually more ok for the lower tier and that the people in next bracket would rather expect something of 75$ value. Just make it 75-100$ and 130$+ so 101$ gifts will be technically the 75-100 tier while the ones who want to chose the higher one will understand this gift is expected to go “up and beyond” when compared to the previous tier

Been too busy with work and the thread blew up.. ITT Karl is actually a cool guy and his giftee seems a little awkward.
Will fill out the form tomorrow.

Suggestions -

Minimum gift tier limit has to be a main CGL item, e.g. if tier is 30-40 then the gift should include a $30 main CGL item.
Examples of things are-
Lolitas: clothing, accessories (headwear/jewellery/others), bags, shoes, novelty items (like AP wallets and stationary and collectibles, that kind of thing) etc.
Cosplayers: props, maybe clothing items or accessories etc for certain cosplays the giftee will do (like character boots, sailor moon wand and hair accessories, shields, wigs, wings, elf ears, anything at all for particular cosplays).
Can also be craft items if giftee makes their items (double check what items they craft first) like worbla, Eva foam, wig styling sets, paints, etc.

Add a post/sticky document to SS OP threads with information on how to shop and where to shop -
E.g. Japanese sites, how to use auctions, shopping services, cute stores for fillers, Lacemarket etc. And similar shopping ideas for cosplayers/anime fans.
This way there is no excuse for not knowing how and where to shop.

Mods can keep notes of people such as if they've performed badly in previous years, are on a warning/strike list for undervalued and basic gifts, not posting photos, no communication, causing trouble etc.

Verification that people are cosplayers or lolitas with outfit pictures as proof, with a sign on the clothes sent to the mods saying CGL SS 21 for example.

>> No.10531260

As a rule of thumb for tiers it's a decent average to get gift 150% of the tier price, $60 for 30-40 tier, $150 for 100 tier etc.

This way you're not going too over budget but not spending only the minimum (otherwise you probably should select a tier down) and people can still overspend if they want to spoil.

Hmmm. What if someone is in the $100+ tier and wants legwear, then what, buy them one pair of $100 socks rather than buy multiple pairs? Maybe this works for the lower tiers, but maybe better wording would be $tier amount minimum spent on item(s) relevant to their interests, which I'm fairly sure is just a standard part of the rules.

It's not pressuring to spend, I said it as a general suggestion, as so far this SS has either been someone being really basic or overspoiling their match.

What's the thought on a 'will you spoil your giftee/spend over the amount' option for next year then?

So someone who spends a lot doesn't get put with someone who spends the minimum and vice versa.

Inb4 everyone turns this into a shit show, just trying to give some suggestions to make this fairer for everyone participating. Because plenty of people have complained about spending too little or less.

Sorry about the phrasing, thought it would have made sense but probably in my mind only.

And I know you said that's a standard part of the rules but it's really not, the reason there's so many drama and issues every year is exactly because of this.

There's also the discussion over what should be counted as main gifts and fillers which really needs to be clarified in specific detail, though only lord knows if it'll stop the sake drama next year desu.

Hmmm, I know some people can prefer gifts from their other interests outside of /cgl/ and not just get all JFash or Cosplay items.. So what about adding some options to the sign up form like:

> How would you like the contents of your gift divided?
a. 20% /cgl/ interests, 80% other interests
b. 50% /cgl/ interests, 50% other interests
c. 80% /cgl/ interests, 20% other interests

>So why does someone spend exactly 100 on the 100+ tier when there's a 75-100 tier?
The same could be asked for people who spend $50 on their $50-$75 tier.
Would it be nicer if they spend more like $60-$70? Sure.
Do they have to? No. Because they fulfilled the tier requirements.
Is paying $50 in the $50-$75 tier being cheap? Maybe, but nonetheless according to rules and no offense.

It is LITERALLY that easy, anon. I don't know how one can not understand this.

I'm against this.
At most I'd go with the x% cgl-related gift, but a certain degree of cgl-relation should be a given without making it a rule.

Letting giftees decide whether they want more larger/smaller items is unnecessary imho.
Implementing this rule can also fuel later drama, for example if Santa isn't able to give a larger item (because let's say a wishlist item simply isn't available). Even smaller gifts can be well selected and fitting. Restricting a tier like that also decreases the creative room and shopping options for Santas.

Restrict troublemakers of any kind to cards for the next year and see how it goes. If this second chance goes bad, f*ck them. Permaban.
If it goes well, then 1-2 tiers available the following year.

We don't have to make it super complicated, gulls. With those rules people will know what happens if they don't put any effort into it. Simple as that.

I got home last night after a 10 hour work day to this, I wasn’t expecting it until Monday so it was a pleasant surprise! I do love alice unironically, I play blackjack occasionally with my friends so the deck of cards is perfect. Unfortunately I had to return my new phone and get a different one (carrier issue) but I want to hang the phone case on my inspo wall. I didn’t already have anything you got for me, from the snacks to the makeup I’m really taken aback! I’m excited to wear / use everything, the bag is the perfect color too. Idk how anyone looks like what seem to be Holy lantern socks and see them as old school gothic lolita. I understand the santa may not have had wrapping paper on hand to match any giftees interest but in the $100 tier I'd expect them to be willing to purchase packaging materials to align with the giftees aesthetic or at just not wrap them and leave them in the original packaging they shipped in at that point.

Your santa wouldn't happen to be the one complaining about Kyle..? Because this is the sort of gift I would expect from that person.

Man, you'd like to think that if something is going to be shipped a month after the deadline it would at least not be garbage. But it's basically the opposite, people who care take the time to make sure things arrive by the deadline. Maybe the deadline should be more solid and a grinch check can be done earlier, because yikes.

No, I had Kyle as a giftee, not a Santa. This was from someone with a feminine name so not a male anon.

I've had time to cool down a little and correct myself after checking my sign-up form. I didn't specify no sweet/cutesy stuff in my form, but I did get asked by one of my santas what aesthetics I like so I made a collage of general Jfashion designs I liked and didn't like, and Holy Lantern was on it just as a general aesthetic (but it also showed I did NOT like cutesy/sweet/pastel stuff). So I'm guessing that's where they thought I might want the OTKs even though I didn't say I owned any of the prints listed - just that I liked how they looked.

But I did specify on my form that the ONLY dark tones I liked were black, red, green, and grey and that the only metal accessories I liked were silver colored ones.

I also named about 25-ish non-Jfashion interests ranging from Disney to anime/video games and some Youtuber collab designs I liked as well that were all readily available.

So I guess I'm annoyed that out of so much info I gave them I ended up with things that were roughly related but didn't match what I wanted at all? Like if I was difficult to shop for, they could have just bought me some Overwatch figurines, some Disney merch, something..

hey 4618, I'm the one who gave you the gunpla. You can send me $50-75 through paypal! Just ask the organizers for my email as it's my paypal email.

Though, I'd advise against it heavy. But sending paypal money for the tier is way better than sending gunpla that lost 75% of value as soon as you opened them. All the fun comes with building one from scratch, I could sell it as secondhand but the only reason people buy secondhand is if it's an ancient kit or they're missing a certain piece or part of it broke.

You can send back the socks if you wore them though as that'd be a nice present xD and keep the book.

It's funny though, the reason I got into Gunpla was to stop me from making a stink at people. Then, it became a fun way to kill time.

Remember to breathe and calm down before you do anything, sorry you were called out! Playing with fire and the like.

Its because despite liking "old school gothic" they did nothing to show the person what that was, so the initial response was not the full story. They really did get what they asked for, spoopy gothic and LF stuff.

Also looking back, the attitude about getting angry at wrapping paper was very childish.

>> No.10535173

I can’t do anything about it now, but I’m really worried about how I packed my gifts. I wrapped everything in cute paper I specially ordered from an indie designer to match the theme, using matching ribbons and tape etc to make it all pretty, but one of the gifts was a bigger brand bag that wasn’t very wrappable. I put everything I’d wrapped INSIDE the bag, wrapped the bag lightly in tissue paper and then shipped it in a bubble mailer, but I’m terrified that the recipient will think I’m sloppy. I drew them a little New Year postcard and wrote a Christmas card and a letter to go with everything, so I did try to make sure it was all cute, I’m just worried it being in a bubble mailer will ruin everything.
