Someone who really enjoys the fashion will look at other girls' instas and stuff, follow brand releases, and so on. They'll get a lot of exposure to what the fashion is meant to look like and most likely they'll improve over time as they learn what looks good on them and build their wardrobe.

Someone who isn't having fun won't build their wardrobe or follow other lolitas outside of their hugbox so they won't improve.

Both of the girls in the OP pic have potential. These coords weren't great but they're clearly TRYING to do it right, which is important.

I'm 172cm and wear classic; some things are a tad short-waisted (I'm also a little busty) but for the most part I look deceptively petite because I'm otherwise skinny. I also carry a lot of my height in my legs, which helps a lot as well.

I'm 5'8 and the biggest problems I face is the waist on some dresses squeezing my ribcage. some blouses looking like crop tops, and long sleeves being to short. though none of these affect the finished coord as long as Ive handled everything properly. It's all up to having good judgment(and taste)

To clarify.

155-160cm is the *ideal* height to be able to wear most things, it's not the range. It's like saying 70% dark chocolate is THE perfect chocolate ratio, but if you happen to have 60% or even milk chocolate I'd still eat it because it still tastes like chocolate and it still tastes good. I'd draw the line at white chocolate, but I've never really figured out how tall is too tall for lolita to be honest.

If you're taller, all you have to do is avoid the miniskirts and short dresses. And not be fat. That leaves you like ......everything else lolita for you to wear.

(substyle isn't really helpful. IW and Meta both went through phases where they made miniskirts, IW's miniskirts were as short as AP's. And on the flipside, AP has its fair share of long dresses and drop-waists, though I think only a few combine both)

Not even about Tyler at this point but a lot of people have significant others who are like their friends and they share interests with, or learn about each others' interests to some degree because they listen to them speak about or engage in them, etc.

It's weirder to know or care nothing about what your SO likes, and to "tolerate" it as if it's a chore.
